Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3879: Comprehending the Sword for Eighteen Years

After learning about the wonders of the Hundred Superimposition Sword, Jian Chen could not help but recall a Heaven Tier Battle Skill called Nature’s Stolen Fortune that he had obtained back then on the Tian Yuan Continent. That battle skill could also multiply his strength, which bore similarity to the Hundred Superimposition Sword.

However, the wonders of Nature’s Stolen Fortune only worked on low level cultivators from the lower world. If their strength neared the top or peak of the lower world, Nature’s Stolen Fortune would basically become useless.

However, the Hundred Superimposition Sword was completely different. This was a profound secret technique that even Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts could only comprehend to the eighth superimposition.

“Just comprehending up to the eighth superimposition already makes you on par with heavenly emperors, even achieving what heavenly emperors cannot attain. If you completely comprehend all one hundred superimpositions, wouldn’t that mean you can fend off Grand Exalts who had already become an embodiment of the heavenly ways and risen above all else as a Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalt?” Thinking up to there, Jian Chen could not help but gasp.

Grand Exalt! Just how superior and divine of an existence was that? They were the undisputed paramount sovereigns of a major world. The first standard for gauging the strength of a major world was the number and quality of Grand Exalts they possessed.

Throughout history, the opponents of Grand Exalts were always figures of the same level. There had yet to be any Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Exalts who managed to rival Grand Exalts despite being weaker. Not even supreme prodigies, no matter how deviously talented they were.

Jian Chen who deeply understood the value of the Hundred Superimposition Sword also became overcome with an irrepressible sense of desire. He immediately settled his mind and cast aside all other thoughts, using less than one ten-thousandth of the Skyscraping Sword Sovereign’s comprehension as a foundation to begin comprehending.

At that moment, Jian Chen seemed to depart from the world and all conflict, rising beyond all matters. He forgot about the various opportunities and fortunes in the Skyscraping World and also forgot about his ultimate objective for entering this place, the seed of ways!

At this moment, only a single goal remained in his mind, which was to comprehend the Hundred Superimposition Sword!

Its importance even exceeded the seed of ways!

That was because without the seed of ways, he could still break through with the Way of the Sword. It would just take longer.

However, if he did not grasp the Hundred Superimposition Sword, then he would have to wait several hundred thousand years until the Skyscraping World opened once again.

That was also dependent on the Skyscraping World remaining complete. If the world shattered or was destroyed, then he would potentially lose the opportunity right in front of him.

After all, he was uncertain whether the Hundred Superimposition Sword would be preserved.

Or perhaps it would be taken by someone else!

Time trickled by slowly. Jian Chen meditated in front of the stone tablet year after year. He seemed to become a statue. He did not budge at all.

During this time, many cultivators of various strengths found this place as well. After recognising the stone tablet to be one of the nine secret techniques left behind by the Skyscraping Sword Venerable, they sat down in delight and all tried to comprehend it.

Some of these cultivators lasted for several years before leaving in pity.

They had already understood the difficulty of comprehending the Hundred Superimposition Sword. They were aware that they could not grasp its secrets before the closing of the Skyscraping World, so they refused to waste their remaining time here. They went off to search for their fortunes elsewhere.

There were also others who refused to give up, remaining here and continuously trying. All they knew was that it was one of the nine secret techniques that the Skyscraping Sword Venerable had left behind.

They were completely unaware of any further details.

Over the years, there had not been any major incidents in the Sky Scraping World. The seed of ways still did not appear. The cultivators beneath Immortal Exalt were active in the lower regions of the Skyscraping World. Very few people set foot in the higher regions.

As for the Immortal Exalts, most of them gathered in the higher regions. These people did not care about the various resources available in the Skyscraping World at all. They found a quiet place to patiently wait for the appearance of the seed of ways.

There were also people who watched the only path leading up to the top of the mountain like they were hunting.

During those years, the mess created by the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing gradually settled down. Apart from the Profound Spirit Master and a select few Immortal Exalts, no one went out of their way to investigate this matter anymore.

The two Immortal Exalt ancestors who followed the Profound Spirit Master had now been reduced to just the Black Wind Ancestor. It had been a very long time since the Scarlet Fire Immortal Exalt from the Hall Brilliance Heaven had appeared with them.

It was a mystery how he managed to leave the Profound Spirit Master’s side without displeasing him.

Outside the Skyscraping World, one of the three sages of the Modest Silence Heaven, the Scholar Capital Master, continued to sit in the cold and dark outer space. He was clearly not as calm as he seemed on the surface. He would open his eyes from time to time, glancing back and forth between this region of space and the Modest Silence Heaven with clear anxiety and concern. He would also check how much time had passed from time to time, calculating when the Skyscraping World would reopen.

The Scholar Capital Master truly experienced what days passing like years meant during the time he spent waiting outside the Skyscraping World.

Jian Chen continued to sit without budging in front of the huge stone tablet that recorded the Hundred Superimposition Sword inside the Skyscraping World. He had already spent eighteen years there.

The few faces that Jian Chen first saw here had all left already. They had given up on comprehending this secret technique.

At this moment, there was only another Immortal Emperor here apart from Jian Chen. He was an old man with a ruddy appearance. He wore the robes of a daoist priest and possessed a peaceful countenance, as well as an extraordinary bearing. He seemed like an orthodox daoist priest.

He had also spent a decade here. He sat several kilometres away from Jian Chen, also in the middle of comprehending.

At this moment, the old man slowly opened his eyes. He looked at the huge stone tablet. There was a deep sense of helplessness and pity on his face. “How difficult. The nine secret techniques left behind by the Skyscraping Sword Venerable are truly too unfathomable. I’ve spent a decade here, yet I’ve made no progress at all.”

“If I had enough time, I could spend tens of thousands of years, hundreds of thousands of years, or even millions of years here, but I just don’t have that much time in the Skyscraping World…”

“Sigh, looks like I’m fated to not obtain this secret technique…”

The old man sighed as he stood up slowly, about to leave. Despite being filled with intense reluctance, he was forced to accept this cruel truth.

At this moment, powerful sword intent suddenly appeared, which made the old man halt. He subconsciously looked over. Several kilometres away, Jian Chen basked in hazy light as powerful sword Qi wrapped around him.

From the level of the laws, the sword Qi only belonged to a mid Immortal Emperor. It did not reach late Immortal Emperor.

However, the old man whose cultivation had already reached the Eighth Heavenly Layer sensed an intense threat from the sword Qi, which actually gave him chills.

“W-what exactly is this sword Qi? The laws are clearly weaker than mine, yet it gives me intense uneasiness.” The old man was startled.

At this moment, Jian Chen suddenly opened his eyes after eighteen years of comprehension. His eyes were snowy-white, shining with blinding light, such that it was impossible to meet his gaze.

He took out the Heaven-lifting sword; his presence instantly rose to the peak. Afterwards, he unleashed a regular strike towards the tall stone tablet before him.

When he struck out, numerous blurs immediately appeared in the space around him before superimposing together and merging with the Heaven-lifting sword in his hand. As each blur overlapped, the strength behind his attack multiplied.

The attack had produced a total of five blurs!
