Chaotic Sword God

Chapter 3857: Spiritual Qi as Eyes

After the Skyscraping Sword Venerable had left, Jian Chen stood where he was and shut his eyes. A dazzling imprint shone on his forehead. Jian Chen rapidly absorbed the information it contained.

This imprint contained the small technique that the Skyscraping Sword Venerable had passed onto Jian Chen!

A while later, the imprint vanished, as all the information inside had been completely absorbed by Jian Chen.

Jian Chen shut his eyes slowly. In such a short amount of time, he had already grasped the technique from the Skyscraping Sword Venerable completely.

Suddenly, Jian Chen’s eyes shone. He formed a seal with one hand and began using the secret technique that he had just learnt.

As soon as he used the secret technique, Jian Chen felt a strange connection develop between his consciousness and the spiritual Qi within ten thousand kilometres of him. With his thoughts, the spiritual Qi in that range all began to gather together, turning into a huge swirl of spiritual Qi around Jian Chen.

Shortly afterwards, with another thought, the spiritual Qi from a range of ten thousand kilometres completely vanished once again in a split second as if it had all been repulsed, without leaving a single wisp behind.

At that moment, there was not a single wisp of spiritual Qi left within ten thousand kilometres of Jian Chen.

“Hmm?” Suddenly, Jian Chen seemed to discover something. A hint of surprise and joy immediately appeared in his eyes. As he controlled his mind, the spiritual Qi began to surge again.

Jian Chen shut his eyes and maintained his control over the spiritual Qi, but very soon, he began to smile resplendently.

“In the beginning, I was still very doubtful over why the Skyscraping Sword Venerable would give me this useless and unnecessary technique. Turns out he had his own intentions.”

“In the Skyscraping World, the senses of everyone’s souls are suppressed by formations, so theyʼre all limited to a range of a hundred kilometres. With this technique from the Skyscraping Sword Venerable, the senses of my soul are still constrained, but I can use the spiritual Qi as my eyes and sense everything in the surroundings through my control over spiritual Qi.”

Jian Chenʼs smile gradually deepened. “This way, Iʼll always be ahead of everyone in the Skyscraping World. I can always take them by surprise.”

“Others can’t sense me, while I can observe their every move from several thousand kilometres away…”

“The Skyscraping Sword Venerable’s technique is no different from giving me exactly what I require right now.” Jian Chen was in a great mood. He turned around and returned to the sword pool in the cave.

By now, the entire place had already been enveloped in dense spiritual Qi. With the sacrifice of a part of the Skyscraping Sword Venerableʼs lingering will, he had mobilised the tremendous amounts of spiritual Qi in the Skyscraping World to accelerate the growth of the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing.

“Originally, I was even prepared to spread the news of the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing to draw over some Immortal Exalts to feed it resources, which would accelerate the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing’s breakthrough. Now, with the Skyscraping Sword Venerableʼs lingering will, itʼll probably only take a year or two at most before it completely ripens.” Jian Chen felt very content as he gazed at the sword-shaped fruit in the middle of the pool.

Drawing over other Immortal Exalts came with tremendous risk, as he did not know at all if they would have the patience to feed the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing. What if they directly picked the fruit and fled with it?

Although Jian Chen had the confidence to stop them with the Divine Formation of the Heavens before they could pick it, it was nowhere near as good of a plan anymore.

“All I need to do now is wait patiently. I canʼt let anyone approach this place during this time.” With that, Jian Chen vanished from beside the sword pool silently with a sway.

He did not use the Divine Armour of Heavenflight to mask his presence. Instead, he used the secret technique that the Skyscraping Sword Venerable had taught him to turn all the spiritual Qi within a range of ten thousand kilometres into his eyes, closely watching out for any disturbances in the surroundings.

For the next period of time, Jian Chen began to leave the region where the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing grew. He patrolled the surroundings, watching over a region of a hundred thousand kilometres.

In the outside world, a hundred thousand kilometres was but a step away to even lowly Golden Immortals, let alone Immortal Emperors and Immortal Exalts.

However, this was the Skyscraping World. Even Immortal Exalts could only expand the senses of their soul to a hundred kilometres away, which was at times even less than what they could see. As a result, a hundred thousand kilometres was already an extremely spacious region, enough for many experts to miss out on opportunities.

In the blink of an eye, more than half a year had passed. The Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturingʼs breakthrough was becoming closer and closer. Meanwhile, Jian Chen never discovered a single person within the hundred thousand kilometres he patrolled.

On this day, Jian Chen discovered a figure thirty thousand kilometres away from the Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing. He was a Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Emperor. As he searched through his surroundings, he entered Jian Chenʼs range of observation.

The two of them were only several thousand kilometres apart, but he clearly had not discovered Jian Chen as the senses of his soul and his vision was affected. Meanwhile, Jian Chen learnt of his existence through the spiritual Qi he controlled.

“A Ninth Heavenly Layer Immortal Emperor. Do I kill him or not?” Jian Chen murmured to himself in thought before letting out a gentle sigh. “So be it. The Spiritual Fruit of Sword Nurturing has not been exposed yet. Letʼs see if I can draw him away.”

Jian Chen hid himself with the Divine Armour of Heavenflight and directly flew towards the Immortal Emperor. A few hundred kilometres away from the Immortal Emperor, he took a turn down a fork in the road.

After travelling around a hundred kilometres, he stopped. With a flip of his hand, he took out a low grade God Tier heavenly resource in his possession and carefully planted it in the ground, hiding all of his traces.

At this moment, the Immortal Emperor was gradually approaching him. With each step he took, he could traverse a hundred kilometres. Whenever he advanced, he would pause for a moment, searching the surroundings carefully with the senses of his soul.

Very soon, he arrived at the fork. Before him were two paths that led off in different directions.

But right when he hesitated over which path to take, he seemed to sense something. His expression changed as joy flooded his face. He chose the same path as Jian Chen without any hesitation.

Very soon, he discovered a heavenly resource a hundred kilometres away. Despite not being particularly impressive at only low grade God Tier, it was still a harvest.

Right when he picked the heavenly resource, he sniffed the air heavily and seemed to sense something else. After advancing another two hundred kilometres, he discovered a second heavenly resource.

“My luck is not bad. I actually discovered two heavenly resources one after another. It’s just a pity that their quality is a little low. Whatever, at least it’s better than nothing,” the Immortal Emperor muttered to himself. He did not change directions, following the path beneath his feet. In the end, after travelling another two hundred kilometres, he discovered a third heavenly resource.

And it was also a low grade God Tier heavenly resource this time!

Just like that, Jian Chen set down several heavenly resources in front of the Immortal Emperor and managed to lure him further and further away.

Only when the Immortal Emperor gradually travelled away did Jian Chen expose himself again. He gazed at the figure that was already several thousand kilometres away, about to leave the range of spiritual Qi he could control. He murmured to himself, “I think I have an impression of this person from outside earlier. He’s from a peak organisation.”

“Though, if I can use a few heavenly resources that aren’t particularly valuable to avoid a feud with peak organisations, it’s all worth it.”
