Chapter 2444: Chapter 2444: Kill You, and the Phoenix Fire Spirit Will Be Mine

”The Phoenix Fire Spirit is in the valley ahead. I hadn’t even fully approached when the bell rang, so I promptly stopped advancing.”

The group halted, and Ghost True Sage instructed, ”Fellow Matthews and I will intercept Floating Cloud and Flowing Cloud. Prylor Jandric, approach from underground, while Phineas Tate and the three of you go from above to encircle the Phoenix Fire Spirit.”

”If the Phoenix Fire Spirit escapes underground, Prylor Jandric, try to get as close as possible and activate the magical treasure I gave you. Everything within a massive range will be frozen into Profound Ice, trapping the Phoenix Fire Spirit within, unable to escape for a short period. Just hold the position and notify us.”

Phineas Tate and the others nodded in agreement, ready to act. However, Ghost True Sage looked at the four sinisterly, then waved his hand, sending four black elixirs flying towards them.

”To ensure there are no hidden agendas among you, I’d like each of you to take one pill. If you’re thinking of grabbing the Phoenix Fire Spirit and running, you won’t make it back to the camp alive.”

Phineas Tate and the others turned pale. He intends to give them poison!

Ghost True Sage indifferently added, ”Rest assured, once we acquire the Phoenix Fire Spirit, I’ll provide the antidote. If you refuse, it exposes your intentions...”

Ghost True Sage didn’t finish, but the implication was crystal clear.

If you don’t take it, you have ulterior motives.

With ulterior motives, there’s no reason to keep you alive!

Inside, Phineas Tate and the others felt bitter, but they knew they had no room for resistance.

Since the Quasi-Saint Master lifted the ban, even if Ghost True Sage killed them here, he would face no consequences. If they died, it would be in vain!

Reluctantly, Phineas Tate and the others swallowed the pills.

Ghost True Sage, seeing them take the pills, looked satisfied.

If they can get out, wouldn’t these three be perfect tools?

After all, the last disciple had already betrayed him, leaving no one around to command.

”Alright, we’ll hold them off, you go ahead. Move quickly, don’t let the Phoenix Fire Spirit escape!”

Ghost True Sage didn’t say what would happen if the Phoenix Fire Spirit escaped, but everyone felt a chill in their hearts.

Ghost True Sage, a merciless killer, had given them poison. If the Phoenix Fire Spirit slipped away, they’d lose their final worth, rendering their lives pointless.

Prylor Jandric descended to the ground, using Earth Escape, and vanished beneath to approach the forward valley. Phineas Tate and the others waited a few breaths, estimating Prylor Jandric was nearing underground, then rushed towards the valley.

Floating Cloud and his group weren’t far, not in a rush to attack.

Because Carson Flores was also underground, approaching the valley. Acting prematurely might startle the Phoenix Fire Spirit, benefiting no one.

Ghost True Sage and the middle-aged Matthews turned, chuckling coldly, ”Even if you catch up, it won’t matter. The Phoenix Fire Spirit will never be yours!”

Floating Cloud calmly replied, ”By killing you, the Phoenix Fire Spirit will inevitably be mine!”

Ghost True Sage sneered, ”One-on-one, I might not best you, but in a two-on-two, the odds aren’t in your favor.”

Floating Cloud’s gaze settled on the middle-aged man: ”Fellow, are you sure you want to meddle in this affair?”

The man smiled slightly, ”With a chance for freedom, I must seize it. Besides, the master forbids in-fighting. It’s been a while since I fought; my whole body itches. Perfect to loosen up today.”

Flowing Cloud interjected, ”If you ally with Ghost True Sage, the outcome is uncertain, but with us, victory is assured. We are fewer in number, increasing our departure chances, does it not?”

Ghost True Sage’s eyes narrowed; Flowing Cloud’s words were indeed inciting.

Floating Cloud and Flowing Cloud, as brothers, were naturally trustworthy allies. Though Ghost True Sage had recognized and recruited Matthews Hui, they lacked such unity.

For freedom, if Matthews Hui joined Floating Cloud, the odds were overwhelmingly favorable, nearly certain.

Ghost True Sage felt a momentary tension; after all, what value does an alliance hold against freedom?

Would Matthews Hui betray him?

With no lesser power, a switch in allegiance from Matthews would leave him helpless.

Facing Flowing Cloud’s offer, Matthews Hui chuckled, ”I’m too vile to stand alongside righteous gentlemen like you, and I’m curious about Dragon Mountain Sect’s strongest. Today, crossing paths, how could I miss it?”

Flowing Cloud frowned slightly. With persuasion failing, only battle remained.

All are Superior Grade Great Land Prime Immortals, top elites valuing dignity. An offer once declined ends in a fight — who fears whom?

Moreover, Floating Sinking Child and Flowing Cloud knew victory wasn’t crucial. They only needed to keep those aboveground occupied.

Floating Cloud’s gaze turned cold, ”In that case, let’s find out.”
