Chapter 1815: Chapter 1815: The Deal Between the Heavenly Alliance and the Dragon Clan

Elijah White is Carson Flores’s senior brother, and currently a disciple of the Hundred Tribulations Gate. Naturally, Carson’s subjective stance aligns with the Hundred Tribulations Gate, but his interests are not entirely the same.

His greatest desire is to rescue Elijah White; everything else is negotiable.

Only when both sides come to an agreement can there be a peaceful exchange of hostages, which is why Carson stepped forward.

If things continue to escalate without resolution, conflict might become inevitable, making it difficult to negotiate later.

Seeing both sides contemplating, Carson continued, ”As Ms. Matthews mentioned earlier, she is willing to pay a ransom as Callie Matthews’s aunt. I think that’s feasible.”

”Additionally, both sides suffered casualties in the conflict. Given the ongoing strife between the Dragon Clan and the Human Race, we will not pursue accountability for these losses.”

”The last request, proposed by me as an Immortal Palace Envoy, is that the Dragon Clan provide information on the Heavenly Alliance. We do not oppose your transactions with the Heavenly Alliance, but if you ally with them against the Celestial Palace, the Azure Dragon Clan will become our enemy, and you must bear all the consequences.”

After Carson finished speaking, he spread his hands wide: ”These are my proposals. Both parties can consider and discuss whether to accept them.”

Both parties looked at each other, but no one voiced strong opposition.

Norah Matthews, after a moment of contemplation, spoke cleanly and decisively: ”I agree. The Spirit Vein will be mutually owned and used, with forty percent for the Dragon Clan and sixty percent for the Human Race. The extra ten percent is the remuneration for the Hundred Tribulations Gate discovering the Spirit Vein.”

Carson turned to look at Rhys Fox.

Rhys Fox thought for a moment and ultimately nodded in agreement: ”I have no major objections.”

No one is inherently fond of fighting, of killing or being killed. Who wouldn’t want to use the Spirit Vein peacefully?

Carson secured an additional ten percent usage rights for the Hundred Tribulations Gate, which is fair and objective.

How can the Hundred Tribulations Gate not have the full strength to control the Spirit Vein?

The same goes for the Puddington Tribe; neither side has the strength to swallow the other whole, and both hold hostages from the other, leading to mutual apprehension.

The Spirit Mine was discovered by the Hundred Tribulations Gate, and the Puddington Tribe getting forty percent is already profitable.

With a broad agreement reached, the next step was to discuss the details. Everyone involved was a significant figure, uninterested in quibbling over trivialities. Norah Matthews generously offered a substantial ransom.

The reason Carson proposed a ransom instead of compensation for the dead was to give both sides a way out.

Callie Matthews’s status is exalted, and Norah Matthews’s willingness to offer a ransom demonstrates the family’s emphasis on her. This ransom indirectly serves as compensation for the Sect elder killed by the Dragon Clan in the initial attack.

If it were directly labeled compensation, Casen Matthews would have grounds to object, demanding compensation in return for his losses. That would lead to endless debate.

Norah Matthews and Carson share similar interests with the Puddington Tribe, yet they are not completely aligned.

Carson aims to rescue Elijah White, while she aims to rescue Callie Matthews.

As for the Hundred Tribulations Gate and the Puddington Tribe, as long as they can negotiate successfully, Carson and Norah Matthews don’t mind who gains more or less.

Fully understanding this point, Carson chose Norah Matthews as the key to the negotiation, and indeed, she agreed readily.

As the negotiations neared completion, Carson asked, ”Ms. Matthews, can you now share information about the Heavenly Alliance with me?”

Norah Matthews replied, ”The Dragon Clan has indeed been trading secretly with the Heavenly Alliance because they offer something the Dragon Clan needs. However, we have not agreed to cooperate against the Celestial Palace.”

”The Dragon Clan has always been independent and will not submit to the Celestial Palace, nor will it submit to the Heavenly Alliance. We’ve negotiated as equals for the transactions.”

”If the Celestial Palace is willing to trade with the Dragon Clan, the Dragon Clan will not turn it away.”

This final statement naturally indicated their stance, indirectly notifying Carson that they had not allied with the Heavenly Alliance against the Celestial Palace.

Carson breathed a sigh of relief, genuinely worried about a possible alliance between the Heavenly Alliance and the Dragon Clan, given the formidable power of the entire Dragon Clan. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be occupying a third of the continent.

Carson asked, ”Can you elaborate on the trades and the identities and bases of those involved?”

After a moment of contemplation, Norah Matthews explained, ”They offered an Immortal Fruit concocted with special methods from the High Immortal Realm, significantly aiding the Dragon Clan’s transformation, making it more thorough and pure, smoothing the path of future cultivation.”

”What they wanted were captives captured during clashes with the Human Race, specifically True Immortals and above. The Dragon Clan and Human Race have been in constant skirmishes, so there are naturally plenty of such captives to trade for something beneficial to the Dragon Clan.”

Captives?

Carson asked perplexedly, ”What do they do with these captives?”

Norah Matthews shook her head: ”I don’t know, but I suspect they have some method to make these captives follow their orders and serve as their fighting force...”
