The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1635: Chapter 1635: Capable People Dislike Owing Favors

Evan Foster carefully looked it over and then handed it to a maiden in red nearby.

The maiden in red took the paper, glanced at it, and a thoughtful expression appeared in her eyes.

Carson Flores glanced at it without paying much attention; if the elixir formula could be figured out so easily, there wouldn’t be a need to teach others.

Let alone figuring out the correct dosage of the elixir formula, even if the correct formula was given, without the alchemy techniques from the Primitive Pill Scripture, attempting to concoct the elixirs would only end in failure.

Evan Foster explained, ”Brother Lin, don’t be offended. This is Julia, skilled in alchemy. She’s responsible for most of the elixirs I take daily.”

Carson Flores smiled, ”It seems that the maidens around you are not only remarkably beautiful but also possess their own unique skills.”

Evan Foster laughed, ”Yes, Elaina Moses is skilled in medical practice, tea making, and brewing; Summer is good at alchemy, Spring Harvest excels in culinary arts, Abby Wilkinson is adept at socializing, Olivia White, Cyan Petal, Chrysanthemum Blade, and Bamboo Sword are sword maidens skilled respectively in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. Besides, there’s Aunt Cold who takes charge of helping us escape when we encounter trouble...”

Carson Flores praised with a smile, ”Young Master Evan, your life is truly enjoyable, worthy of being one of the top ten noble sons of the Immortal Domains!”

Evan Foster chuckled, ”Brother Lin, don’t make fun of me. Although they are maidens, I treat them all like family. They’ve grown up with me since childhood, so if they say something inappropriate, please ignore it for my sake.”

Carson Flores laughed, ”You’re overthinking it.”

Evan Foster raised the teacup, ”I have poor health, so I never drink alcohol, only tea to relieve cravings. Today, Brother Lin, you diagnosed my physical condition and pointed out the way forward. I toast you with tea instead of wine.”

Carson Flores raised his cup, ”A mere trifle, no need to mention it.”

With the matter of medical treatment settled, the two chatted more freely, discussing various topics.

Carson Flores listened more and spoke less, yet the atmosphere wasn’t awkward.

Carson Flores didn’t probe into Evan Foster’s specific identity within the sect, and Evan Foster didn’t extract details from Carson Flores either, both maintaining courtesy.

After finishing the tea, the two had become quite familiar with each other.

Evan Foster returned to his room, and Summer followed in, helping Evan Foster arrange the bedding.

”Young Master, do you believe that Phoenix Vermillion Blood Pill can cure you?”

Evan Foster smiled slightly, ”We’ll know after trying, won’t we?”

Summer expressed concern, ”I still find it hard to believe.”

After a pause, Summer added, ”Of course, I hope your health improves, but I find his words somewhat vague. I worry that after knowing your identity, he might be using you to obtain phoenix blood and merely intends to take advantage.”

Evan Foster laughed, ”Are you worried that after we gather all the ingredients for him, he might just say he failed in concocting it and swallow all the materials privately?”

Summer nodded, ”I do have such worries because we’ve never even heard of the so-called Phoenix Vermillion Blood Pill. Simply calling it an exotic elixir doesn’t make it credible.”

Evan Foster shook his head, ”He’s not that kind of person.”

Summer was curious, ”Why do you say that, Young Master? You’ve only met once.”

Evan Foster smiled, ”The eyes, a person’s eyes can’t deceive... Considering my identity, how would ordinary people react upon knowing it?”

Summer replied, ”They’d likely be very enthusiastic?”

Evan Foster reached for a handkerchief, covered his mouth, coughed lightly a few times, and his face turned a shade paler.

Summer, worried, approached and supported Evan Foster, ”Young Master, are you alright?”

Evan Foster shook his head and sighed, ”This troublesome body, truly a hassle; his description was quite accurate, a leaking water barrel. If it weren’t for the leaks, how could I, the Saint Heir of Treasure Path Sect, fail to even break through to Golden Immortal?”

Summer helped Evan Foster sit by the bed, and Evan Foster instructed, ”When the Flying Boat reaches the next city, find someone to send a message to my father. Include this prescription and ask him to seek phoenix blood, gather all the ingredients, and send them to the Northern Mystic Sect.”

Summer agreed, then couldn’t help but ask, ”Do you really trust him, Young Master?”

Evan Foster smiled, ”As I just said, a person’s eyes can’t lie. Usually, upon knowing I’m from the Treasure Path Sect and seeing my entourage, even if they don’t know my identity, they’d certainly inquire further and enthusiastically try to make connections. He didn’t.”

”Why didn’t he ask? On one hand, he might not care about my identity; it doesn’t concern him. On the other hand, by not asking, he likely hopes I won’t question him either.”

Summer frowned, ”Why?”

Evan Foster sighed, ”You all spend most of your time on the mountain, understanding little about worldly matters. Abby Wilkinson certainly wouldn’t ask why.”

”The White Crane Immortal Sect once had the genius Bank Austin, shining for a time. But this grandeur mostly belonged to Bank Austin alone. Without him, the White Crane Immortal Sect is not worth mentioning.”

”Carson Flores treats me like an ordinary acquaintance, polite yet maintaining distance, which indicates he harbors caution inwardly. He essentially has no desire to associate with me.”

”In this world, those with abilities are like that: powerful, confident, unwilling to forge unnecessary ties...”

Summer mumbled, ”Then why did he proactively examine you?”

Evan Foster chuckled, ”Because I invited him for tea, and those with abilities least like owing favors...”
