The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1074: Chapter 1074: One Mistake Leads to Another!

”Assessment?”

Jorge Gross pondered, ”You’re thinking of bringing Larry Stein into the Ten Thousand Ghosts Sect?”

Douglas Meyers nodded, ”He’s the Deputy City Lord of Tianyuan City and quite powerful. If I can recommend him to join the Ten Thousand Ghosts Sect, not only will I gain merit, but I’ll also enjoy tangible benefits.”

”He completed the task of gathering Blood Beads from five hundred young girls for artifact refining, yet he refused the real assessment task of five thousand Blood Beads. Moreover, he kept probing me. Obviously, he’s become suspicious of me and even tried to use this as a threat against me...”

”In that case, he naturally deserves to die. I had planned to kill him myself, but he’s very cautious around me and it’s difficult for me to make a move. It just so happens that you came to me, so I can use you to kill him instead. It’s a shame though...”

At this point, Carson Flores and the others fully understood.

Douglas Meyers saw that Larry Stein had the power and the willingness to kill without hesitation to enhance his strength, which clearly met the standards of the Path of Refinement Disciple’s mindset. Therefore, he planned to absorb him into the Ten Thousand Ghosts Sect.

Unfortunately, Larry Stein was not easy to manipulate, and he thought to use the situation to threaten Douglas Meyers, who feared his identity might be exposed and thus had them, who conveniently showed up, to kill Larry Stein.

Douglas Meyers calculated everything correctly, but he did not expect to have dealt with the Path of Refinement before and despised it deeply.

In his imagination, the Bandit King was a ruthless killer, so would he care if Larry Stein really said something?

One mistake led to another!

Carson Flores listened for a long time and learned many secrets of the Ten Thousand Ghosts Sect, but there was not a single piece of truly valuable information.

”When was the last time you met with your sect?”

”Over twenty years ago.”

Carson Flores frowned slightly. The lifespans of Cultivators were long, and the intervals between sect meetings were quite extensive, which was very unfavorable for investigations.

”Roughly how many people are in your sect?”

Douglas Meyers replied, ”Around seven to eight hundred people, I think. I don’t know if that’s everyone, but that’s how many were there at the last gathering.”

Carson Flores asked, ”Do you know about the Ten Thousand Spirits Blood Array?”

Douglas Meyers answered, ”Of course, that’s the unique secret technique of the Ten Thousand Ghosts Sect, but it was lost after that ancient battle...”

Carson Flores was slightly disappointed; the last time Douglas Meyers attended a sect meeting was over twenty years ago, and the Ten Thousand Spirits Blood Array appeared after the adventure in the True Dragon Secret Realm, so it was normal that Douglas Meyers wouldn’t know.

He initially thought that, being an Artifact Refining Master with Hollow Void Strength, Douglas Meyers would be a big fish, perhaps knowing a lot of important information. However, after the interrogation, he realized he might be a big fish, but he was a fish that moved alone.

Carson Flores questioned him in detail and learned that all disciples of the Ten Thousand Ghosts Sect had legitimate identities, hiding in the world just like Douglas Meyers. If exposed, who would have known such a famous Artifact Refining Master was actually a remnant of the Ancient Heretic Sect, the Ten Thousand Ghosts Sect.

”How can I meet your contact?”

Carson Flores inquired, sighing internally at how cautiously the Ten Thousand Ghosts Sect disciples operated, like spies—no wonder they could exist for so long without being eradicated.

”A day’s travel north of the city, there’s a canyon. In the canyon, there’s an altar. If I need to meet him, I go to that altar and use a special method to activate it, and he will come to meet me as soon as possible.”

Carson Flores’s eyes lit up, ”How long would I have to wait?”

”Within three to five days.”

Kenji Rollins, who had been listening silently, turned and said, ”Mr. Flores, this is a lead. If we can catch this contact, we might be able to trace the line upwards...”

”They use a vertical communication system, so by digging up one or two people, we might reach the core members of their sect.”

Carson Flores thought Kenji Rollins had a point, ”Shall we try it?”

Kenji Rollins confidently said, ”I think we should give it a try. The opponent is just one person, and with so many of us here, no matter who comes, they won’t be able to escape.”

Carson Flores nodded, ”Okay, let’s give it a try.”

Kenji Rollins said, ”There’s no time to delay. Let’s make arrangements immediately, lest someone who is aware of our battle might leak the news.”

Carson Flores readily agreed, ”Good, then let’s set out.”

The group, along with Douglas Meyers, flew northwards for a day and arrived at the canyon Douglas Meyers had mentioned.

The canyon was located in a very desolate area with no cities for a thousand miles around. The whole canyon was overgrown with weeds and shrubs, completely resembling a primal forest.

With Douglas Meyers’ guidance, they found the altar he mentioned in an inconspicuous mound covered with vegetation in the valley.

The altar resembled a miniature pyramid, covered with various ancient runes. It was unclear how many years it had been there; the altar was almost completely enveloped by vines, nearly making it impossible to step on.

Kenji Rollins set down Douglas Meyers he had been carrying, ”Go on, contact your contact.”

Douglas Meyers stood without moving, ”I can’t like this. I need to use a massive amount of Spiritual Energy, and only I can activate it. You can’t do it in my stead...”
