Three Towers Game

Chapter 1539: Chapter 494: Rule-Free Fighting Tournament (Part 2)

”Normally, the person with the highest score this season is the champion. But Mammon has set a special condition to make it easier for someone to rise late or, in other words, to create a sensational twist.”

Wen Xishu seemed to have guessed:

”A winning streak?”

Old Yan nodded:

”The first to achieve 24 consecutive wins will have the qualification to directly challenge the current highest scorer. If they win, the season will end early, and they will qualify as the champion.”

Wen Xishu said:

”There’s actually no one with 24 consecutive wins? Not even the current highest scorer?”

Old Yan said:

”If you were to make a fighting TV series and wanted to attract viewers to pay...would you let the main character smash through the entire series in the first episode?”

”In reality, a team’s road to championship might be a one-sided crush, but in a film or TV show, there must be various failures and conflicts.”

Wen Xishu couldn’t refute.

Mammon is the house, naturally, he has to set the scene. This underground fighting is just one of his ways to make money.

A storyline where someone with 23 consecutive wins loses to an unknown rookie can always trick a lot of money out of people.

Wen Xishu also realized:

”It seems...winning 24 matches will be extremely difficult. Mammon is bound to set the scene?”

Old Yan nodded:

”Every winner is actually arranged by Mammon. In the Lower City District, the Upper District, what variables could there be?”

”Of course, Zeroer Asdoku also didn’t care, since the champions provided by Mammon indeed had some skills.”

”And you, are the variable for the whole Mechanical City. You certainly aren’t on Mammon’s list of champion candidates.”

”Therefore, you might win three to five matches, and Mammon will arrange a powerful mech to snipe you.”

”So...honestly, our action this time has been difficult right from the start. I’ve always thought that changing the Mechanical City is a luxury.”

Because Old Yan always felt that what he was waiting for was not a variable, but a Savior.

Wen Xishu, however, didn’t see himself as a Savior. He just felt...like trying.

If relying only on his mech, he might not win.

But now, I also have Sequence Power.

If the Sequence can’t win, I also have the Star Sign form, as well as the One Punch Man form.

...

...

Wen Xishu and Old Yan are both extremely efficient people.

Soon after completing the registration, Wen Xishu didn’t delay and was about to head to the Mechanical Fighting Tournament.

Old Yan indeed spared no expense, as he took out the treasured item from his repair shop in the Lower City District.

A black cloak.

A special kind of metal that can self-repair, capable of covering all of Wen Xishu.

From outsiders’ perspective, they probably could only see the lower half of Wen Xishu’s face, making Wen Xishu look very mysterious.

The cloak itself has a bit of defensive property, but not much. Its main purpose is to prevent others from spying on Wen Xishu, essentially a tool to increase secrecy.

Old Yan being able to make this and being willing to give it to him was quite surprising to Wen Xishu.

The underground fighting tournament does indeed take place underground. Deep within the ’Pipeline Zone’ at the city’s lowest layers.

Wen Xishu and Old Yan needed to traverse a maze of sewage pipes to find the hidden lift platform.

Luckily, it was Old Yan leading the way; Wen Xishu himself truly couldn’t find the place.

But along the way, there were indeed numerous mechs heading to the location of the underground fighting tournament.

This is just like a casino, another place for ordinary mechs to earn money.

Only one appears to be harmless games for blood-sucking, while the other is truly about selling one’s body.

Of course, in essence, this place is also a casino.

Soon, as the elevator continued downward, Wen Xishu saw a massive...stage that could be called similar to the Ancient Roman Colosseum.

Around the stage, many yellow light barriers stood, these were to prevent damage, to keep the explosions on stage from affecting the audience.

Upon reaching the audience stand, Wen Xishu looked up and saw a dozen thick cables hanging down,

the ends connected to malfunctioning neon lights that flashed and crackled continuously, casting a dim, flickering light that threw distorted shadows.

The air was filled with the pungent smell of ozone, rust, and poor quality lubricant.

The audience’s frenzied electronic roars, the synthetic sounds of gamblers placing bets, and the distorted heavy metal music blaring from outdated sound systems all intertwined, forming the unique atmosphere of the fighting venue.

The walls around were covered in anti-system graffiti and rough spray-painted portraits of past champions.

Indeed, the top-hitting mechs didn’t seem very bulky.

Of course, among the past champions, there were a few big muscular ones.

Old Yan led Wen Xishu through the audience area, into the backstage region.

This area was on the other side of the stage, even further below the stage, made from old containers and scrap vehicles, filled with various unidentified parts and modification tools.

In here, temporary modifications were supported. Some contestants, to wow the audience, would fight two consecutive matches in a short time. If the mech got damaged in the previous fight, rapid maintenance could be done here.

Of course, there’s also the black market here.

Yes, something inevitably found at underground fights.

The black market surrounds the arena, selling all kinds of contraband from ”memory chips” to ”military-grade weapon parts”.

Transactions don’t use Mechanical Coin but are done via barter or settled with ”human traits”.

If you’re willing to sell your human traits from your core, be it memories, personality, or emotions, you might immediately gain strong equipment support.
