Three Towers Game

Chapter 1538: Chapter 494: No-Holds-Barred Fighting Tournament

Wen Xishu finally reached a partnership with Old Yan.

From this moment on, he has become someone the Rusted Ones will do their utmost to assist.

The registration processes for the underground mechanical combat tournament are all handled by Old Yan and others on his behalf.

Now, Wen Xishu only has one task——

Proceed to the underground combat tournament and take the championship.

Having a clear mission boosts Wen Xishu’s spirits. Mechanical City is too vast, without the guidance of a wheel, and with distinct rank barriers, it’s difficult to investigate useful information.

But perhaps due to the Big Number Tendency, or because his Luck Value is sufficient, he almost consecutively encountered several important figures within Mechanical City.

Before heading to the underground combat tournament, Wen Xishu also chatted with Old Yan.

”The underground mechanical combat tournament doesn’t differentiate between light and heavyweight; hence, Wen Xishu, you might face very terrifying opponents.”

”Of course, according to Mechanical City’s logic, those of you with forms closely resembling humans are sometimes the hardest to deal with.”

Wen Xishu was also curious about the various rules of this combat tournament:

”What can I know about the underground combat tournament?”

Old Yan earnestly replied:

”Don’t worry, I’ll tell you everything. Since you’ve decided to embark on this path, the entirety of Mechanical City, whatever we know, I’ll share with you.”

”First, Zeroer· Asdoku, one of the Four Emperors with an Emperor Level mech, has nothing to do with the mechanical combat tournament itself, but he will select talent from it.”

”And the true sponsor of the mechanical combat tournament is another of the Four Emperors, Materialist·Mammon.”

”Zeroer’s ability, as literal as it sounds, can eliminate any bugs in Mechanical City.”

”Materialist Mammon can define the value of an item, making many people flock to things that are worthless; at one point, if you lacked such items, you weren’t even fit to live in the Upper District.”

”I’ve never seen Zeroer fight, nor have I seen Materialist fight, but it’s said Materialist’s shield is related to wealth, and it won’t be injured until wealth values are drained.”

”Holding the combat tournament, Materialist Mammon actually brings countless mechs false hope.”

”In the underground combat tournament, there are no combat rules; as long as an opponent remains in the ring, as long as they don’t concede, killing them is permissible.”

”Compared to underground human fighting, this place is freer, but freedom equates to unfairness.”

”From the term ’Materialist’ alone, you should know, he’s the ultimate definer of wealth throughout Mechanical City. His underlings must have the strongest equipment.”

”And in the underground combat tournament, this brutal match doesn’t impose equipment gap restrictions.”

”For instance, in human underground fighting, at least it’s about the fists, but the underground combat tournament is where you are allowed to enter with a gun, of course, your opponent too can have any weapon. I’ve even seen nuclear devices stuffed inside one’s mech to deter attacks.”

Wen Xishu couldn’t help but ask:

”And in the end?”

”Of course, it was cut off from sensing, sealed, and then the nuclear device was removed,” Old Yan laughed.

Reasonable.

Old Yan continued:

”With no rules, winning a match grants one point; in the underground mechanical combat tournament, as long as you have one point, you can receive official sponsorship, earning a daily compensation of five Mechanical Coins.”

”But the premise is, every three days, you must fight at least one match. If you accumulate fifteen points, you can redeem three thousand Mechanical Coins and leave.”

”Many low-level bodies, just for these Mechanical Coins, also strive for one point.”

”After all, with more such people, it dilutes the combat pool, presenting chances to encounter others who are equally low-level, and with luck, they might continually face very weak opponents.”

Wen Xishu frowned:

”But probably, no one has such luck, right?”

Old Yan shook his head:

”No, some do exist, but just a few — those types... seem to emerge in batches every so often, and these individuals are heavily promoted to flaunt their wealth.”

Wen Xishu understood, shills.

These shills can attract more people to come in.

Old Yan also said:

”So you guessed it, right? Your opponents are actually manipulated backstage.”

”Because the real money-maker from the combat tournament is the betting, and Materialist·Mammon’s team aims for as many dramatic duels as possible.”

Wen Xishu said:

”This is really quite shady.”

Old Yan said:

”Capital doesn’t lose. So you might find yourself matched with very low-level bodies initially, but the next moment, they might arrange a few hundred-point players to snipe you.”

Wen Xishu understood, similar to winning a few times in the novice ranks and then directly facing a master commander sniping you.

Wen Xishu found one issue:

”Then how do I achieve the championship? According to your statement, winning one match earns a point; joining so late makes achieving the highest points seem quite challenging, right?”

Old Yan was just about to explain:

”This is Mammon’s nastiest and most gimmicky design.”

”Mammon implements a season system. Every three months, the season’s points reset, and everyone must reacquire points. You’re not particularly lucky, it’s already halfway through the season.”
