The Third Return of the Necrotic Magic Swordsman

When Malwrath activated his Lord Skill, the tides of battle shifted in an instant.

All the monsters under his command began to act strangely, their powers surging to a terrifying new level. Their movements became faster, their attacks more brutal. The change was visible—once manageable monsters became overwhelming.

Pressure mounted across the battlefield.

Normal hunters began to falter. The number of human casualties rose sharply.

Some teams still held their ground with coordination and grit, but even they were starting to feel the suffocating weight of the empowered beasts. Cracks were forming, morale was slipping.

Evan and Lucas’s team stood out—they were still fighting back fiercely, far more composed than others. But even so, the signs of strain were obvious. If things continued like this, they would be forced to retreat.

And a retreat at Tier 0... meant doom for the city behind them.

’Should I act now... or wait just a bit longer?’ Evan hesitated. He clenched his fist. He didn’t want to reveal his necromancer powers just yet—not in front of so many hunters. Not unless it was truly necessary.

But before he could decide—

Far across the battlefield, deep in the Tier 2 zone where Malwrath and Caius were clashing, something monumental happened.

A towering visage of pure flame formed in the air—a massive warlord, cloaked in molten armor and wielding a blade of infernal fire. Its presence alone made the sky tremble.

And then, the flaming figure descended, merging completely with Caius.

At that moment, Caius transformed—his body radiated the true essence of an Infernal Warlord.

His Descent-type skill, {Infernal Warbringer}, had activated.

It wasn’t just a personal buff—this skill enhanced all allies and subordinates within range, imbuing them with the warlord’s wrath and strength.

Tier 2 and Tier 1 hunters immediately felt the change. The pressure they were under vanished and was replaced by a surge of strength and clarity.

The tides in their zones reversed almost instantly.

But it came with a downside—Tier 0 was out of range.

The strongest area was still completely isolated. Reinforcements would come… but by the time they arrived, how many would have already fallen?

Evan understood this deeply. If he waited any longer, Tier 0 might collapse entirely. And if that happened, the city’s core would be torn apart.

He made his choice.

”No more waiting.”

His cold voice echoed in the silence between attacks.

”My soldiers... rise.

Show them the true terror of a Necromancer.”

A chilling wave of energy surged around him.

His shadow exploded, stretching out across the battlefield like an oil spill, covering dozens of meters in seconds. Several hunter teams were momentarily engulfed by it.

But they didn’t attack—when they saw it was a fellow hunter, they waited, uncertain.

Then—

A massive commotion erupted across Tier 0.

From the shadow, figures began to emerge—hundreds of Undead rising from the bloodied ground.

Skeletons, armored undead beasts, bone archers, and more. All of them charged at the beasts, ignoring the living.

At first, the hunters panicked, some even raising their weapons. But just before chaos could erupt—

”All hunters!

Do not attack the Undead!

I repeat—they are on our side!

A Necromancer is controlling them!”

A booming voice echoed across the battlefield, amplified by a skill-enhanced device.

Everyone heard it.

And slowly, disbelief turned into cautious acceptance as the Undead rushed only the monsters. They tore into beasts with merciless efficiency. Hunters across the frontlines started murmuring and spreading the word.

”They’re really not attacking us.”

”Told you! Don’t attack them!”

”It’s true—the Necromancer is helping!”

Even Lucas’s team heard the message.

And Lucas, sharp as ever, immediately made the connection.

”Only one person could summon that many Undead…”

A name flashed in his mind—the Prodigy Necromancer.

He didn’t hesitate.

”Team, move out! We’re going to support him—and earn some favor while we’re at it!”

Meanwhile, in the heart of the battlefield, surrounded by his summoned undead, Evan stood still.

His cold eyes swept the area.

Then he opened his system interface—checking his gains, preparing to mass-raise the nearby fallen beasts, and inspecting the new skill he had just unlocked.

This was only the beginning.

He was finally reaching the same domain he once stood in—before the awakening of his physique.

Evan glanced around, eyes narrowing with sharp focus. His newly summoned Undead Mage was already engaging enemies, unleashing relentless spells on any beast foolish enough to come near him. With fiery orbs and deathly chains, the mage fought like a loyal guardian.

”You’re still the same as you were in the dungeon,” Evan muttered with a rare smirk, patting the shoulder of the undead. For a second, he could’ve sworn he saw a flicker of pride in its soulless eyes.

Suddenly, a group of hunters approached from the side. The Undead Mage, mistaking them for enemies, hurled a spell in their direction.

”Oi! What the hell are you doing? Do you want a beating?” Evan shouted, quickly halting the mage’s spell.

Turning toward the group, Evan’s face twitched slightly in annoyance.

Lucas.

”Hello, brother,” Lucas greeted him with a smug grin. ”Need some help?”

The girls behind him were all glaring at the Undead Mage with burning eyes.

”NO, I DON’T NEED HELP!” Evan snapped, his voice thick with irritation. ”WORRY ABOUT YOUR OWN TEAM. I CAN HANDLE MYSELF JUST FINE.”

He turned away sharply, calling his summons as he walked toward a more spacious area.

Lucas, undeterred, followed behind. ”Wait, aren’t you a Necromancer? Then, shouldn’t we protect you? We even have a healer. I can see your summons are starting to fall, and their numbers are dropping fast.”

Evan didn’t respond. He just kept walking.

”YOU DON’T NEED TO WORRY. I WAS JUST ABOUT TO BEGIN.”

He stopped in the open space, raising his hand high. The surrounding hunters paused in confusion.

”What’s he doing? Isn’t he worried about getting attacked?” Lyra asked, ready to run over.

But then… the battlefield froze.

Evan’s voice echoed through the chaos—calm, powerful, and rhythmic.

”Oh, fallen beasts, heed my command.

Rise from death, and serve me in the name of Death—{Undead Raise}”

At that moment, the bodies of the fallen beasts began to tremble violently.

Gasps and shouts erupted.

”W-What the hell?”

”The monsters… they’re moving?!”

But no. These were not the same beasts.

Their flesh dissolved into bone. Green-blue flames lit within their empty eye sockets. One after another, the corpses began to rise—reborn as Evan’s undead army.

Lucas and his entire squad stared, speechless.

Such a feat… was unimaginable for a Tier 0 Necromancer.

’He’s not normal. No way, this is just a beginner-tier class!’ Lyra thought in awe.

And he wasn’t alone.

”I need him in my team. No matter the cost,” Lucas and Lyra muttered at the same time, their gazes locked on Evan.

Meanwhile, Evan was calmly checking his notifications, one after another flooding in.

[Your skill, Raise Undead, has leveled up to Lv.26.]

[You’ve gained summons: ×610 Normal, ×186 Elite Summons.]

[You’ve reached the limit. Please increase Summon Space to add more summons.]

[◆ Storage Summon: 1810/1810]

→ 612 × Normal Summons

→ 238 × Elite Summons

→ 1 × Mid-Boss Summon

He quickly checked his MP:

[MP: 1,326 / 6,310]

Still plenty. Enough to handle anything unexpected.

Suddenly, a translucent dome began forming around him—rising from his feet, covering the battlefield.

It was his skill.

{Death March}

A large-scale buffing domain that amplified his undead army’s attack and speed by 50%, fully stacked.

Immediately, the entire battlefield tilted in favor of the undead. His skeletal army surged forward with unnatural speed and brute force, pushing back even the strongest beasts.

Chaos turned into order.

Hunters watched as Evan’s army tanked and wiped out hordes of enemies without hesitation.

Behind him, Lucas and his team could only stare in disbelief.

’He’s… a one-man army.’

And the EXP?

It kept flowing into Evan like a flood.

Though his level-up requirements were steep, the constant battle and kill count were pushing him forward.

Level after level.

Power after power.

There was no doubt anymore—every single person on that battlefield knew who this man was.

The Prodigy Necromancer.

But one question echoed across their minds:

Why didn’t they recognize him before?

Even Lyra, arrogant and prideful, was forced to admit the truth.

’This guy… I can’t even compare. No matter how wide my AOE is, I’d risk killing allies. But him? He fights like death itself. Calm, precise, devastating.’

She gritted her teeth, determination blazing in her eyes.

’He must be at least S-Class. Maybe even SS. No—SSS isn’t a dream for someone like this.’

She made a silent vow to convince her brother to recruit him.

Lucas, meanwhile, was already planning ahead.

’If I can get him onto my team… then I don’t even need Evan anymore. But if I can get both—then I’m set.’

He activated his talent interface, scanning Evan for identification and stats.

What appeared on the screen left him completely stunned and within his scope of search.

[Name: Raven]

[Class: Necromancer (SS)]

[Level: 51]

[Talent: None]

[Bloodline: Human]

[Note: A true prodigy worth nurturing to become the Undead King or even an Emperor.]

”I was right… You’re mine now, Raven,” he muttered with a grin, charging at the beast lunging toward him.

All around, the other hunters who had been frozen in awe finally snapped back to reality. They rushed into action—carefully choosing battles they could win, hoping to snatch some benefits while staying safe.

The battlefield had shifted dramatically. Eyes turned to the chaos, but this was war—where reversals came unannounced and hesitation spelled death.

Meanwhile, Evan was grinding like a man possessed. His undead army swelled in size, and with each level-up, he gained sixty additional slots. His forces were becoming what could only be described as endless.

He was now turning into the true nightmare a Necromancer was always meant to be.

Beasts fled at the sight of their former comrades rising as undead under his command—monsters once proud, now twisted in death.

After just a few hours, Evan had already hit Level 54, and he’d earned two new skills he hadn’t even had time to check. The grind was real.

Lucas wasn’t far behind either—reaching Level 57. He could have gone even higher, but fighting alongside his team naturally slowed him down. Still, he didn’t mind. He wasn’t like Raven, who could dominate entire zones solo with an army of death.

But both of them had something worth watching—their newly acquired skills.

Special Skills.

The kind every low-tier Awakener dreamed of—something people chased for years. Lucas got his through the system’s help, but what about Evan? Evan just got them. Effortlessly. And not just one.

He gained two Special Skills.

And the kicker? The second wasn’t even from his Mage class.

It came from the most unexpected place—Weapon Master, his measly F-rank class, a class he’d almost forgotten about. Yet somehow, it awakened a skill so absurdly useful, it shone like a star—passive, powerful, and barely demanding. A perfect bonus.

But luck wasn’t entirely on Evan’s side.

From the frontlines, Malwrath, still locked in a brutal clash with Caius, had seen it all. His mutated beast army was getting wiped out by the tide of the undead, and his plans were unraveling before his eyes.

He gritted his fangs and gave the order.

His strongest Tier-0 beast—a monstrous beast stationed at the edge of the Tier 0 field—was commanded to break through, capture the two humans, and retreat.

Malwrath had no other option.

He was the last surviving lord.

Lilia and the other high-level hunters had already taken down the other two. The Ape Lord had fled when death came knocking, and the Wyvern Lord—too stubborn to escape—had died under the relentless siege of hundreds of hunters.

With the flying beasts gone, their armies scattered. Only Malwrath and whatever remained of the Ape Lord’s ground forces were left.

And just as Malwrath issued another command—

WHAM!

A bone-crunching punch struck his jaw, shifting it off-center.

”Where the hell are you looking, Malwrath?” Caius, now in his Warlord Form, cracked his knuckles with a mocking grin. ”Am I really that boring? Got time to sightsee now?”

Malwrath snarled, his voice cold and focused. ”No, human. I’m simply giving my priorities to what matters. This fight with you? It’s meaningless. The outcome’s already decided. I’m just stalling—waiting for my plan to bloom.”

As he said it, he launched another fierce attack—not to win, but to buy time.

Caius scoffed. ”Oh? Then let’s watch that plan fall apart together.” With that, he lunged forward, fists blazing, matching blow for blow.

Meanwhile, at the Border of Tier 0 Battlefield

On the edge of the Tier 0 battlefield, a gigantic beast stood still, like a juggernaut waiting to be unleashed.

The moment it received its master’s command, it charged.

Like a runaway train, it tore through the land—unstoppable and unforgiving.

Beast or human—it didn’t matter. Everything in its path was flattened.

Its mission was clear: capture the two targets—Lucas and Evan.

Its monstrous frame was unlike anything natural. Not even the strongest wild beast could match it. It wasn’t just massive—it was ranked to the extreme. An apex of its kind.

But…

Would it be able to stop the two monsters it was now charging toward?

That… was a story for another day.
