The Third Return of the Necrotic Magic Swordsman

Evan had just requested his talent enchant his weapons when talent revealed something unexpected and unheard of.

”Hi, what do you mean? Is it something great or bad?”

”Then it’s okay.”

Evan pressed the Yes option, and the system went blank. After a few moments, it started to show new notifications.

”Please provide me with and other relevant details so that I can proceed to the dungeon promptly.”

Shadowpiercer: +1 (50 EEP), +2 (145 EEP), +3 (230 EEP)

Nightpiercer: +1 (65 EEP), +2 (160 EEP), +3 (250 EEP)

Duskguard: +1 (45 EEP), +2 (135 EEP), +3 (220 EEP)

”Huh, so now they are adding the (+) system to show the enchantment for overall items. Good, then let all three reach +3 And perhaps now I can enchant more easily with the help of this feature.” He said as all three enchantments began to work and the cost of the enchantment was deducted from him beforehand. As the result was in front of him with full detail.

⟪────────────────────────⟫

Weapon: Shadowpiercer (Tier 0, Erith Rank) [+3]

Type: Bow

Durability: 1,300/1,300

Weight: Light

Attack Power: 130

Description: A sleek, jet-black recurve bow carved from the spine of a Netherwood Tree, now further reinforced through enchantments. The darksteel inlays pulse faintly, amplifying its connection to the void. The Abyssal Silk bowstring has grown even more refined, humming with suppressed energy. Arrows loosed from this bow no longer simply whisper through the void—they flicker between reality and nothingness, making them nearly impossible to track.

Effects:

Phantom Arrow+ → Arrows now gain higher intangibility, bypassing stronger barriers and obstructions.

Piercing Gloom+ → Arrows fired from the shadows now critically strike, dealing significantly increased damage.

Silent Draw+ → The bow remains completely silent, and arrows leave no visible trail when fired.

Void Step (New) → After a successful ranged attack, the user can momentarily blur into the shadows, reducing enemy tracking for a brief moment.

__

Weapon: Nightpiercer (Tier 0, Erith Rank) [+3]

Type: Spear

Durability: 1,500/1,500

Weight: Medium

Attack Power: 170

Description: A dark spear with a twisted obsidian shaft and a fang-like spearhead forged from the remains of a Shadow Serpent. Through repeated enchantments, its structure has been reinforced, and its presence has grown more ominous. Now, the weapon resonates with a near-sentient hunger, its surface subtly shifting as though absorbing the darkness around it. In dimly lit environments, its edge distorts reality itself, making it unpredictable to the enemy’s eye.

Effects:

Fang Strike+ → A successful thrust now greatly weakens the target’s defenses for a short duration.

Shadow Lunge+ → Increases lunge speed and allows for a follow-up attack if the first strike lands.

Predator’s Instinct+ → Sharpened instincts now allow the wielder to react even before an enemy fully moves.

Serpent’s Echo (New) → The weapon retains a fraction of each successful kill, momentarily increasing its attack power.

__

Weapon: Duskguard (Tier 0, Erith Rank) [+3]

Type: Shield

Durability: 1,800/1,800

Weight: Heavy

Defense Rating: 200

Description: A round shield forged from Voidforged Metal, now strengthened through repeated enchantments. Its abyssal gemstone has grown more active, faintly pulsing with stored energy that seeps into the wielder’s grip. The surface of the shield no longer just absorbs light—it distorts the air around it, creating an eerie visual ripple that unsettles opponents. It is now impervious to minor heat-based attacks and grows colder in intense combat.

Effects:

Void Absorption+ → Can now absorb a greater portion of incoming magical damage, converting it into a stronger temporary resistance.

Abyssal Reflection+ → Can now deflect mid-tier spells back at the caster with greater accuracy when timed correctly.

Stalwart Guard+ → Now grants moderate resistance against mental interference and reduces fear effects while raised.

Abyssal Surge (New) → Upon absorbing enough magic, the shield can release a wave of force, staggering nearby enemies.

”Excellent. Now, proceed with upgrading my other items as well and inform me of the cost. If the funds are insufficient, I will be able to earn the necessary amount today.”

”Huh, but aren’t there more items to enchant? Why are you not taking Duskfang Vest and Emberfang to enchant?”

Vernis: +1 Max

Caldo: +2 Max

Erith: +3 Max>

”So, they can’t upgrade right now.”

Talent remained silent as Evan proceeded with his Stromrend upgrade, giving away 260 EEP more to continue. Seconds later, he received the enchanted blade from Talent. ⟪────────────────────────⟫

Weapon: Stormrend (Tier 0, Erith Rank) [+3]

Type: One-Handed Sword

Durability: 1,200/1,200

Weight: Light

Attack Power: 145

Description: A reforged blade now pulsating with rekindled storm energy. The once-weakened wind-aligned properties have strengthened, causing faint arcs of static to dance along its edge. When swung, it leaves behind a visible wind trail, and its hum has grown into a whispering gale. Stormrend now cuts through the air with greater ease, making each strike feel almost weightless.

Effects:

Wind Edge+ → Increases attack speed by 25%, making follow-up strikes significantly faster.

Gust Slash+ → Wind pressure now extends the attack reach further and can stagger weaker foes on impact.

Whispering Blade+ → The sword’s movements are smoother, allowing the wielder greater precision and reaction speed in combat.

Storm Surge (New) → Charging an attack gathers storm energy, releasing a cutting wind shockwave on impact.

He nodded and put away the blade in his inventory and went to buy some arrows before heading toward his dungeon.

He paid about 1000 CP to buy 100 arrows with a quiver too for about 1500 CP.

”This association is really taking too much money for this,” he said as he came in front of the dungeon and, after setting about 20 arrows in his quiver, he went inside to hunt.

The dungeon he was entering was his previous dungeon, Beast Grove, where he had mainly been hunting boars until now.

After entering, he quickly moved toward the hunting field and got his bow and arrows ready. Today he was going to hunt stags more, as with the level difference, he could easily increase his level more quickly. For hunting boars, he was about to use something he should have used from back then.

”System, use my fragments and upgrade the duration of my summons in my skill, Undead Summon,” Evan Before leaving his room, he had thought that if these fragments could enhance the skills, then why not try it.

”Yes, do it and use all of them.”

”Good, now let me show you the true usage and terror of a necromancer,” he said as he lifted his hand and called out his skill.

”{Undead summon} (-600 MP),” he said as fifteen skeletons appeared before him. Their style was different from usual, as their power increased with their level.

”Go and hunt down the boars that are alone and without any hunters nearby. Do not attack humans. If attack you, first get away and do not engage with them until I order you to. Whenever you hunt a boar, bring it to a collection point. Listen closely: one of you will come with me, two will guard the collection area, twelve hunt in pairs. Now go.”

He spoke, and after the mutation, the summons had gained some intelligence to follow some orders of complex range.

One remained by his side while the other fourteen left to hunt in the lower fields.

He and the summon proceeded to the stag hunting ground, where he could hunt stags alone with his summon.

He took out his Duskguard and handed it to his summon, who equipped it skillfully. Evan then took out his Shadowpiercer bow from his inventory to hunt and gain proficiency with the bow.

He walked toward the stag area, where stags were commonly seen and hunted.

But before he could enter the area, he heard a message.

[Your summons has slain a Boar (Lv.24). EXP gained: 240 (+48 Level Gap).] [1588/2400]

He smiled, satisfied that his plan was working.

He moved toward his goal without any tension, as messages occasionally rang out.

As rumors began to spread that a high death class mage in the Beast Grove dungeon is hunting the Boar with high number of skeletons, people reported seeing roaming in front of them as the news was so much high due to the level restriction of dungeon as no ordinary Death class can summon such strong and huge number of summons who carry out orders without any assistance.

The undead were not listed in the dungeon details, and the beasts did not attack other hunters even if they came across them.

Many hunters saw a huge of corpses in one area of the field, only of boars. Despite their efforts to find the summoner or mage, they failed, and the plan to recruit him was unsuccessful. The rumor started just today, and many were still unaware of it or else the dungeon gate should have been turned into recruitment battle ground.

Evan, unaware of these events, continued hunting in the stag area with his summon and bow.

[One hour later....]

He had unlocked Bow proficiency in his weapon master skill, which was at its final stage and ready for an upgrade.

He shot an arrow straight at an unsuspecting stag grazing on the grass. The arrow moved and struck its target directly in the throat.

The stag struggled desperately, trying to locate the hunter, but no one could be seen due to Evan’s bow effects. Before the stag could escape, the summon was already prepared and attacked it while it was struggling, efficiently and effortlessly killing it.

With the help of his shield, the summon was becoming an excellent tank with Evan’s stats.

”Well done, now let’s return and meet with your comrades to observe their big hunt visible in my system,” he told his summon, who did not understand much and watched his master walk toward the heap of corpses collected by the summon. He had hunted a total of 13 stag and many boars were killed as he received 61 notifications for the kills by his summons.

[You and your summons have slain 13 Stags (Lv.27-31) and 61 Boars (Lv.22-29).EXP Gained: 23,580.] [25,168/2400 EXP]

[Level Up!]Lv. 28 (+7)[3868/4200 EXP][Unassigned Points gained: 70]

”Oh, quite a significant upgrade within just hour, remarkable,” Evan remarked as he employed his talent to plunder the remaining items.

[]

Evan observed the use of talent and nodded in satisfaction as he began to walk away from the area, having taken the corpses of the beasts.

He was heading towards his summon collection area to retrieve the corpses and take the final plunder them, as he obviously wouldn’t be able to it afterward.

He started to run quickly, taking his guard shield from the summon and dismissing it.

His stamina was on a different gaining one red stat from 100 stats.

He swiftly reached the boar hunting grounds and immediately approached the area where a large crowd had gathered.

Evan was puzzled and moved closer to find that his heap of corpses, which was protected by his summons, was surrounded, but no one was attacking them.

He grew serious, realizing that if what he was thinking was true, his foolproof plan might be thwarted by this incident.

Not wanting to show his face, he equipped a different mask that materialized on his face.

He moved forward and started walking toward the summons from the other side when a hunter saw him and stopped him from going any further.

”Hi, brother, where are you going? Stop before these skeletons attacks you. We have tried to get closer, but these summonses are really quickly on guard and don’t let us come closer. Oh, by the way, you also here to and try to make contact with the prodigy death mage or Necromancer?

”The guy asked who was looking like an archer of some kind as Evan face was turned into some shocked and confused mixed face.

”Huh, prodigy Necromancer, where did that come from? Is there any other necromancer here who has higher rank than me?” Evan thought as he continued to walk toward summons.

The archer tried to stop him, but he didn’t. Many hunters thought he was going to get beaten by them, but contrary to their expectations, he easily passed by the summons as if he didn’t exist or they didn’t need to attack him.

Many were confused but some understood what had happened.

Evan checked the heap of corpses and as he started to store them in his inventory as he can’t use his talent right now.

Many were shocked to see this happen. After completely storing the corpses, Evan started to withdraw with his summons, thinking that maybe today was enough. But all the hunters came in front of him, and one asked:

”Hi, why aren’t these summonses saying anything to you? Are you that necromancer party member or are you using some skill to hide your presence from them?”

”Yes, if you did, be prepared to try to steal someone else’s hunt. We will send a notice to the association about you trying to steal someone else’s prey.”

”Yes, just leave and don’t waste time. We will beat you up and take the corpses of the necromancer who hunted them.”

Everyone started to blame him for something he didn’t do. Evan just sighed as the summons, which were standing still, pointed their swords, ready to attack.

But not at Evan, but at all the hunters there.

”Are you all satisfied, or do you need something else to prove that these are my summons?” Evan said in a cold voice as many who doubted that Evan was the necromancer got their answer. They decided to head outside and call their guilds to recruit this genius who could summon many summonses for such a long duration on such low level.

Evan walked away with his summons while people stared at him as he went.

”I thought he was an archer by his bow and quiver. But is he really a high-grade Necromancer? Maybe he doesn’t need a conductor to enhance his power like other mages.”

”Then what should be his class rank: S... no, A at least to begin with. His future is limitless.”

Hunters said as they saw him leaving the grounds and saw all his skeletons disappear instantly at the same time.

”Wow, look, he even that legendary skill, summon storage, to store his skeleton.”

They said, not realizing what had actually happened was that all the skeletons’ duration had ended, and they disappeared from existence, this time the ashes were not present for some reason. As the legendary rumor of the A or high-rank Necromancer began spread by some misunderstanding, all the guilds were tracking the hunter just after getting the news, and all schools conducted data searches in which all Necromancers were listed, but no one was above B rank.

Even the B rank who was chosen as a suspect was not the one, as he was already inside guild, and at the time when the prodigy was seen, the B rank Necromancer was in a different place. While Evan was out from the list due to his class rank of D.

But the guild which had the Necromancer faced huge pressure for this, but the information also dispersed that pressure.

As all of DC-23 city was getting news about the Necromancer, while Evan carefree and unloading all the corpses at the butcher shop to sell them after the plunder effect.

Meanwhile, Lucas, was inside his house, also heard the news of the prodigy Necromancer as his plan was to try and recruit him to his team.

Even some high-ranking Guild were getting involved in this for a guy who wasn’t even aware of it.
