Immortal Sword Master

Chapter 561: Chapter 556: Kun Fish

”Grandpa, what are you saying? Are you going to kill Qingyi?”

Wang Qingyi looked at Wang Heng in disbelief, her innocent eyes filled with confusion and doubt.

Meeting Wang Qingyi’s gaze, Wang Heng’s heart trembled violently. His lips quivered, unable to utter a single word.

He knew his granddaughter was already dead, that the Wang Qingyi before him was not the treasured granddaughter he had once doted on. But after ten years together, how could he not have developed any feelings for her?

Over the past decade, Wang Heng had long since come to see her as his real granddaughter.

If that weren’t the case, he wouldn’t have been unwilling to awaken from this illusion for ten years.

”You misheard. Of course your grandfather won’t kill you.”

Just then, Ning Jiang walked to Wang Qingyi’s side. With a hint of pity in his eyes, he said, ”This is just a nightmare. It will be over when you wake up.”

As his voice fell, he struck the back of Wang Qingyi’s neck, knocking her unconscious.

”What are you doing?”

Seeing this, a nervous expression appeared on Wang Heng’s face, afraid that Ning Jiang meant Wang Qingyi harm.

”Rest assured, I won’t hurt her.” Ning Jiang said meaningfully, ”And only she can deal with the true culprit who massacred Mist Island!”

”What did you say?” Wang Heng’s eyes narrowed in shock. ”What do you know? The real murderer... isn’t it Qingyi?”

”It’s not her.” Ning Jiang shook his head.

”Impossible. When Qingyi first appeared, she kept apologizing to me. She admitted that she killed everyone, that she was responsible for the boundless slaughter. It’s just that she’s forgotten that part of her memory now.”

Wang Heng shook his head repeatedly at Ning Jiang’s words.

”You could say it was her, I suppose, since they are one and the same. But the true culprit should be her other will,” Ning Jiang said.

”Another will? What on earth are you talking about?” Wang Heng’s eyes widened.

”Simply put, she has two wills: one good, one evil. Qingyi is the good part, and the one that committed the slaughter is the evil part.”

Ning Jiang continued, ”From the current situation, it seems Qingyi, the good part, has been expelled from the main body!”

”What exactly is Qingyi? She has always protected Mist Island, but we, the people of Mist Island, have never actually seen her.”

Wang Heng pressed.

The people of Mist Island only knew that the White Whales had always protected them, and that someone was controlling these White Whales from behind the scenes. But no one had ever truly seen who this master controlling the White Whales was.

It had always been an unsolved mystery.

”A Kun Fish!”

Ning Jiang slowly uttered the two words.

”Kun Fish?” Wang Heng had never heard of such a creature, and a look of confusion crossed his face.

”A creature even rarer than the Dragon Race,” Ning Jiang said lightly.

It was normal for Wang Heng, who had always stayed in a small place like Mist Island, not to know about the Kun Fish. In fact, few people in the world today probably knew of them.

This was because the creature was incredibly rare and ancient.

One hundred thousand years ago, in the era Ning Jiang came from, there were no more than ten Kun Fish in all of the Great Thousand Realms combined. One could only imagine how rare they were.

Furthermore, these creatures had incredibly long lifespans. If they reached the Celestial Martial Realm, they could live for one hundred thousand years—a full ten times longer than the Human Race!

It could be said that they were one of the longest-lived beings in the world, and their strength was equally terrifying.

Any single Kun Fish was powerful enough to rival the most Top Level members of the Dragon Race, such as the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon.

Most astonishingly, the Kun Fish is not its final form! This Demon Beast can evolve one step further, transforming into a bird known as the Roc!

The Kunpeng!

That is the true, final form of the Kun Fish.

The Kunpeng is a creature that is a Level higher than the Dragon Race. They are said to hunt dragons for food. Even a race as mighty as the Dragon Race is merely their prey. One can only imagine how terrifying they are.

However, the evolution from a Kun Fish to a Kunpeng is next to impossible—a hundred times more difficult than an ant becoming a dragon.

Even a hundred thousand years ago, Ning Jiang himself had never seen a true Kunpeng. This Demon Beast was practically a legend, referred to by the world as a ”Legendary Level” Demon Beast.

There is a theory that the Kunpeng is the ancestor of all Demon Beasts of the Roc Race.

Things like the Qingtian Roc and the Golden-winged Roc are all descendants of the Kunpeng.

Whether this is true or not is impossible to trace.

”When a Kun Fish evolves into a Kunpeng, many things can happen. A split in its will is one of them, and it usually splits into one good and one evil!”

The Kun and the Roc, two different forms, can result in two different wills.

However, the appearance of this problem also indicates that its evolution has failed. A successful evolution would leave only a single will.

Ning Jiang wasn’t surprised by this. The evolution from a Kun Fish to a Kunpeng was simply too difficult; failure was to be expected.

”You mean, a Kun Fish was protecting Mist Island all this time, but during its evolution, a second, evil will split off inside it, and that evil will is what massacred Mist Island?” Wang Heng asked in disbelief.

Everything Ning Jiang said was completely subversive, things he had never even imagined.

But he knew Ning Jiang had no reason to lie to him. Besides, in this Great Thousand Realms, anything was possible.

”Correct. Qingyi is the good part. Her appearance here, creating all these illusions, was likely an act of atonement. The pain she’s endured in her heart is probably even greater than yours. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have forgotten everything, including who she is.”

Ning Jiang glanced at the unconscious Wang Qingyi.

Wang Qingyi created all these illusions, but she herself became trapped within them, unable to distinguish reality from falsehood. This proved that she had forgotten her own identity—she had forgotten she was a Kun Fish.

Moreover, it was certain that she loved Mist Island. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have spent countless years protecting the Martial Artists on this island.

To protect it for millions of years, only to end up slaughtering the entire island... one can only imagine the extreme pain she must have felt at that time.

”If you must hate something, hate the evil part of her will. She is innocent.”

Ning Jiang stroked Wang Qingyi’s hair and sighed softly.

”I stopped hating her a long time ago.” Hearing this, Wang Heng gave a bitter smile. In his eyes, Wang Qingyi had long since become no different from his real granddaughter.

”It’s good that you think so.” Ning Jiang’s tone shifted. ”Alright, I’ve explained everything I need to. Next, I’m going to meet that evil will!”

”How? It’s not like it will show itself willingly, right?” Wang Heng was taken aback.

”Under normal circumstances, it certainly won’t. But we can lure it out.”

As Ning Jiang spoke, he took out a large jar.

The jar was filled with a pale golden blood. This was none other than the Dragon Race True Blood refined from the bodies of the Flood Dragon Clan!
