Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 1058: Chapter 1030: It’s All Up to Fate

”Chen Zilong, didn’t you say after this call, you’d make me look good? I’m standing right here, where’s your ’look good’?”

The person who came had a broad chest and a thick waist, with a voice loud as thunder, clearly a powerful presence.

Chen Zilong’s liver trembled at the sight of this big demon; these past two days, this guy tormented him terribly!

”L-leader!”

The person standing at the back was the nightmare of little Chen Zilong. The naturally laid-back Dragon couldn’t even handle the simplest tasks, so the leader often scolded him and was especially strict with him.

Even when everyone else was resting, the leader stayed with Chen Zilong for practice, until Zilong was so tired his legs turned to jelly.

Chen Zilong, treated like a baby at home, had never endured such hardship. Today, he was to be trained alone again, and Zilong, overwhelmed with emotion, thought of his lofty status and background, and became even more unwilling. So, he talked back to the leader.

After all, he was the brother-in-law of the Yu Family’s vice president!

In the past, that would have been considered like a distant royal relative, right?

He just couldn’t accept this bullying!

Moreover, the promise of easy and stable days, all those peaceful times promised by his brother-in-law—where did they go?

He followed his brother-in-law’s advice, enrolled here, came over with great enthusiasm, intending to train for a while before being transferred by his brother-in-law to a place said to have ”high pay and no suffering.” His mom cried incessantly when sending him off, while Chen Zilong waved goodbye without a care, eager to finally get rid of a nagging mom at menopause!

But after the train rattled for a very long time, taking him to his destination, stopped, and then shifted to a bus, shaking and jolting for most of the day, it almost shook Chen Zilong’s gall juice out; once it stopped, Chen Zilong felt something was off.

The ”beautiful environment” his brother-in-law mentioned... Isn’t this just a bare, barren mountain?

Don’t mention entertainment facilities; there’s not even a village around!

No signs of life for miles, what kind of unit is this, living in the mountains?

At that time, naive little Chen Zilong was still expecting an office assigned upon arrival, sipping some tea each day, currying favor with leadership to bide his time. After two years, his brother-in-law would transfer him to a place with good benefits... What a dream, until he was jolted awake by a roar from the giant bear-like leader.

No privileges.

No comfortable environment.

Nothing at all, just a fierce, constantly reprimanding bear-like leader!

Unexpectedly, his brother-in-law tricked him into the mountains, to dig mines and shovel dirt—a grassroots job he had no desire to do.

This tremendous disparity only increased the resentment in Chen Zilong’s heart. Today, the leader wanted to add more training for Chen Zilong, and Dragon finally couldn’t hold back, pointing at the man’s nose, challenging that once the call was over, there’d be hell to pay.

The call’s over, and the situation hasn’t improved.

Chen Zilong glanced at the bearishly strong man, swallowed hard, ”I-I. I haven’t finished my call, I need to make another!”

”Don’t you see the queue of people? What call are you making? You brat, get back to training with me now. If you don’t stand properly, no steamed buns for dinner!”

”My brother-in-law is—” Chen Zilong almost exposed his brother-in-law as the remarkable Mr. Yu, and his brother-in-law’s father was the head of the group, but as he was about to speak, Qian’s sinister smiling face flashed in his mind.

As if saying, ’Just try blowing your horn outside and I’ll cripple you.’

Dragon gulped, and the words stuck in his throat.

The man looked at him with disdain, ”What’s your brother-in-law got to do with you? No matter who your brother-in-law is, you came to our honorable mining, you must listen to our command! Even if it’s the Group’s boss, it won’t matter, you have to dig when it’s time to dig! It’s all in black and white, you thinking of breaching the contract?”

Sure enough, the place Yu Minglang picked for Dragon was the notoriously grueling mining industry.

No exhaustion is the heaviest, no hardship the hardiest, only more exhausting and harder.

No one else wanted to come but they badly needed people, Dragon got lured by Yu Minglang to work there, and the place he ended up was still the toughest part of the unit, the kind that mined and dug all year in the mountains, with water freezing in winter and sweat soaking clothes in the sweltering summer. No one wanted to come, only little Chen Zilong came humming a tune.

”You’re the most ill-mannered newbie I’ve ever seen, every word about how your family is this or that. Let me tell you, here, your family is your shovel, your tool!”

”... One day I’ll put an end to you...” Chen Zilong muttered quietly.

”Muttering what! March forward now! If you don’t stand properly today, don’t eat!”

”If I don’t eat, neither do you, why make this hard for me...”

Chen Zilong continued to mutter, the bearishly strong man glared at him, and he dared not speak again. Looking at the azure sky, he was on the verge of tears, Amanda, my almighty elder sister, why won’t you save me!

His almighty sister was being pampered like a queen.

Yu Minglang was massaging Qian’s shoulders. She usually gets sore shoulders from desk work, but it’s much better after his massage.

Qian tapped her significantly relaxed shoulders, ”People with a dirty mind see everything as dirty. I just asked for a shoulder rub, why do you think so much?”

Yu Minglang bore this moment of inequity for the sake of the evening’s benefits.

”Oh right, you said the place Dragon went to is tough, but will the bosses buy into the kid’s charm and go easy on him, seeing his background?”

Qian recalled her wastrel brother’s pleading over the phone, feeling oddly satisfied.

She sent her brother to such a place specifically to make Dragon suffer a bit, if they went easy on him there, that’d be no fun.

”Don’t worry about that, I specifically instructed them to manage him with the strictest methods. The boss there is a particularly diligent and responsible young man. He not only is strict with others, but also with himself, practicing alongside, an exceptionally outstanding grassroots backbone.”

Yu Minglang did a thorough check on the place where his little brother-in-law was heading, understanding every boss’s temperament. For others, such a harsh and unsympathetic leader is arduous, but for that brat Chen Zilong, this is a rare blessing.

Yu Minglang especially emphasized that they must strictly discipline that brat, to polish away his arrogance.

Qian found this highly amusing.

”Then that person is quite good.”

”Yeah, indeed very good. Outsiders only see the glory of our group, but they don’t see the hardships faced by these grassroots cadres. It’s because they cultivate good employees that we can achieve good results. They’re all very worthy of respect.”

Yu Minglang was always polite to these grassroots employees, and now his little brother-in-law had entered a place outsiders view as hellish. Whether it’s a blessing or a curse, whether Chen Zilong can realize this depends on his fate.
