Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 917: Chapter 891: Brother-in-Law’s Skewers Aren’t for Just Anyone

Xiaoqiang looked at her questioningly, unsure of what she was pulling him for.

Qian wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled his face down to press against hers, ”I’ll make it up to you properly when we get back.”

Make it up!

Xiaoqiang’s eyes lit up instantly.

That’s something he can look forward to!

Watching his energetic exit, Qian shook her head and lay down with a smile.

He certainly wanted to do something indescribable at the moment, but because he promised to help her muddle through... Oh no, guide Zilong, he chose to restrain himself and attended to the important matter, which made her quite happy.

Aiming at the right target, knowing the importance, respecting everything about her—what reason does she have not to dote on such a husband?

Chen Zilong was really snuggled in the covers, although he should be resting at this time, he simply couldn’t sleep. He used a flashlight to read a comic while still holding a peach in his hand, munching on it noisily.

Suddenly, his covers were pulled open, startling him to the point he pressed the comic against his chest and almost choked on the peach pit.

”Mom! You didn’t knock again!”

”It’s me.” Yu Minglang patted him on the shoulder.

Zilong exhaled a sigh of relief seeing it was him, sitting upright quickly and patting his chest.

”Brother-in-law, you scared me to death!”

”I knocked, you didn’t hear.”

Zilong removed the earplug from his ear, ”What did you say?”

”Wanna go out for some barbecue? How about it’s my treat?”

”Now you mention it, I’m really hungry...” Zilong rubbed his belly, which was grumbling.

Young guys are certainly at an age for hearty appetites.

”Let’s go, I’ll drive you, and we can even have some beer.”

”My mom won’t let me go, she’s watching me very closely!” Feeling like candidates were similar to criminals, Zilong spoke in a low voice, fearing Qian’s mom would hear.

”No problem, I’ll take you out without her finding out.”

Qian’s mom heard the door opening, quickly got out of bed wanting to see what happened, and heard Minglang say from outside, ”Mom! Qian wants some barbecue; I’m going to buy it, you go back to sleep.”

”I’ll just make a bowl of noodles, stop eating junk food all the time,” Qian’s mom thought.

”No need! She won’t sleep well if she doesn’t eat it, you rest, please.”

”Spoiling this girl is outrageous, what time is it now? No, I have to go talk to her in her room. Minglang treats her well, but she can’t be this inconsiderate—”

”That’s enough, dear, get some rest. Kids have their own sense of proportion,” Mr. Liao tugged at her, and after a few more grumbles, Qian’s mom lay down and fell asleep, her head soon hitting the pillow, snoring sweetly.

Mr. Liao gently covered her with the summer quilt, stood up wanting to close the window, and saw Minglang and Zilong walking toward the car downstairs.

Mr. Liao pondered for a while, then smiled.

Is Minglang going to make a move on Zilong?

That’s quite a relief actually, he’d recently thought about finding an opportunity to chat with Zilong himself, but as a stepfather, bringing it up wasn’t as effective as the brother-in-law.

Yu Minglang looked up, seeing Mr. Liao standing by the window, he gestured asking if he wanted to join for a drink?

Mr. Liao shook his head, motioning inside.

The wife is quite strict.

Besides, with those two kids going out, if he didn’t stay to cover for them, should his wife wake up in the middle of the night and find out Zilong sneaked out, it would surely lead to another inevitable family battle.

Waving to Xiaoqiang, signaling him to go while he returned to bed for more rest.

In the summer of the coastal town, the cool breeze blows, and the barbecue stalls operating until dawn emit tempting aromas. Couples and groups randomly sit at the stalls, sipping cold beer, eating skewers, and engaging in lively banter.

Eating barbecue just cannot be done indoors; one can’t feel the summer vibe. You have to sit outside, savoring the evening breeze’s freshness.

”Brother-in-law, can I order anything?” Zilong took the menu.

”Of course.”

”Didn’t my sister stop giving you allowance money?” Even Zilong knew his brother-in-law was particularly pitiful—earning an eight-figure salary but still living under the tragic regime of handing over his wages.

”How’s that possible? Is your sister that dictatorial? She’s really great.”

He receives enough pocket money each month, and there’s nothing much he wants to buy—his wife sorts it all out. Even his hobby of gaming or reading comics is taken care of; Xiaoqiang feels quite satisfied.

Zilong didn’t understand the joys of a married man like Yu Minglang; he just assumed his brother-in-law was a pitiful figure, deliberately ordering some cheap items, while Yu Minglang couldn’t bear it, grabbed the menu, swiftly added more of his choice, and ordered a pint of beer.

Once the drink arrived, Yu Minglang pushed the beer toward Zilong, drinking a bottle of mineral water himself.

”Brother-in-law, you’re not drinking?” Zilong remembered his brother-in-law could hold his liquor.

”I promised your sister not to drink while driving; a man should keep his word.”

Seeing Zilong sympathetically staring at him, Yu Minglang patted his shoulder, ”You’ll understand in the future how marrying a good wife is crucial for a man’s prospects. Of course, you are lucky too, having a caring sister.”

”Of course! My sister treats me the best,” Zilong recalled what Qian had told him earlier, wondering if his brother-in-law brought him out this time to talk about work?

Some skewers came first, and Yu Minglang pushed them toward Zilong, smiling gently and harmlessly.

”Zilong, do you particularly want to work at my company, or do you prefer a stable job?”

”Honestly, I just want something stable close to home, so I can easily take care of my mom.”

”Well, stability is abundant, why go there specifically?”

”Because the conditions there are better; I’m just a high school graduate, what job can I find? Your place is too far from my mom, so I might as well find something at my brother’s.”

”Would you consider coming over for some training? I’ve got a great place for you, quite suitable.”

At the mention of training, Zilong shook his head like a rattle drum.

”I’m not cut out for it, seeing you busy every day makes me completely uninterested; I’m still young, wanting to goof around for a few more years.”

Such are the thoughts of an immature child; Yu Minglang didn’t push him or argue. In truth, his old company highly values mental relaxation and organizes numerous healthy leisure activities.

These will all stay for later, gradually for Zilong to experience himself.

Then Xiaoqiang smirked mischievously, ”How about coming to your brother-in-law’s office as a leader—isn’t that a good idea?”

”Huh?! Can I?”

Zilong’s eyes brightened! He didn’t know the exact job responsibilities, but imagined an office leader would be a remarkable role.

How cool!

”But isn’t there strict criteria over there? I heard that without that particular major from college they don’t hire, and that school is hard to get into.”

”Who says? There’s always a way, Zilong. If your exam results aren’t satisfactory, say just barely passing, why not retain your student status and come to your brother-in-law’s place for training?”

”This...” Zilong hesitated.
