Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 712: Chapter 686: No Worst Trap, Only Worse Traps

Qian slapped beautifully and gracefully, leaving Ma Qing stunned as she covered her slapped face for several seconds without reacting. When she did react, she burst into tears with a ”wah.”

”Brother, she’s bullying me! Mom and Dad, she’s bullying me!”

Mrs Ma’s face turned purple; she desperately wanted to slap Qian back, but Qian’s gaze made her a bit nervous.

”I’ll fight you!” Ma Qing charged forward. Liumei instinctively blocked Qian and, with a slight push, sent Ma Qing stumbling back a few steps until she sat down on the ground. As she sat, she hit the table’s corner, causing a loosely placed soup bowl to topple over.

The red tomatoes and yellow eggs splattered all over her face, and hilariously, a bowl ended up on her head, spilling seaweed from her mouth as she cried...

”Brother, she’s bullying me... Ahhhh!” Ma Qing yelled with the bowl on her head, on the verge of losing it.

”Liumei, why were you so harsh?” Ma Lv questioned Liumei.

”She wanted to hurt my sister-in-law, and that’s not allowed. My brother said we absolutely must support our sister-in-law, no matter what. If you treat my family like this, then there’s no point in having dinner. Come on, sister-in-law, let’s go!”

Liumei didn’t understand exactly what happened, but she knew who her family was.

Seeing Liumei about to leave, Mr. and Mrs. Ma clearly realized they couldn’t let her go. If she left, the house would be gone too. Their son’s contract was expiring, and without a city household registration, would they really have to move back to a small county?

At a critical moment, Mr. Ma reacted first. He walked over to Ma Qing, who was sitting on the floor, and slapped her.

”You brat, running your mouth and upsetting our in-laws, you deserved to be slapped! Liumei, don’t be angry, uncle taught her a lesson for you.”

Mr. Ma gave Ma Qing a look, and Ma Qing awkwardly said to Liumei, ”Don’t make things bigger than they are. It wasn’t easy for my parents to come here. They particularly like you. They’ve worked hard all their lives and are simple people. Don’t take it to heart if they said something wrong. If you insist on nitpicking, I apologize on their behalf.”

”Damn,” Bai Bai muttered under her breath. They make it sound as if Qian and Liumei are the unreasonable ones. This ”simple person” nearly degraded Liumei beneath the ground.

And the Ma family’s behavior doesn’t need ”nitpicking”; anyone not deaf or brain-dead would be furious!

But Liumei didn’t see the enraging scene; she arrived later, not knowing exactly what happened. Hearing the Ma family’s apology, she also thought making things big wasn’t good. Being a kind-hearted and soft girl, she seemed to be leaning towards reconciliation.

Bai Bai helplessly glanced at Qian, her expression clearly saying, ”With you around, how can such good cabbage be dug out by pigs?”

Qian sighed.

The good cabbage was only recently by her side; before that, it grew unattended in the field!

The Ma family played the victim when faced with others and took the moral high ground, making it seem like Qian and Liumei were bullies if they kept pushing.

”Sister-in-law... I...” Caught in a difficult position, Liumei found herself in a dilemma. Qian, understanding these tactics, patted her shoulder.

”It’s okay, just a little misunderstanding. If you want to stay, then stay.”

”It’s really like the flood has rushed the Dragon King Temple, let’s all sit down and eat something together,” Mrs Ma exclaimed, unfazed and trying to save face even after all the chaos. They couldn’t let the house, or rather, Liumei, go.

Bai Bai couldn’t stand watching any longer and grabbed her small bag, standing up.

”Qian’er, I still have things to do this afternoon. I’ll be leaving first.”

”I’ll go with you. By the way, Liumei, there’s something your family forgot to mention. On the first meeting, it’s absolutely unacceptable for the woman to pay. Our family isn’t lacking in small change, but according to our hometown’s customs, if the man doesn’t pay for the first meal, then he’ll have bad luck forever. It’s for their own good, respecting traditions, right?” Qian’s words left others with embarrassed looks.

Just now, they used traditions as an excuse to have Liumei buy a car, and now Qian threw it back at them directly, clearly targeting them.

”Sister-in-law, you’re not staying?” Liumei was in an awkward position after the earlier incident, hoping to mediate between Qian and Ma Qing.

Qian shook her head, ”I have a plan to maintain my health recently, can’t lose weight, so I won’t eat with them.”

”Pfft!” Bai Bai understood; Qian’er was saying that eating with these people made her lose appetite!

”Are you really leaving, in-law? We’d love to spend more time with you,” Mrs Ma’s gaze was evidently pleased, saying something insincerely polite.

What’s so special about the sister-in-law? Didn’t they still manage to make her stay?

But, unfortunately for this drama-loving old lady, she was destined to be disappointed because Qian didn’t even look at her.

”Meizi, do what you need to do. My brother and I both know about today’s matter.”

Qian picked up her car keys, ready to leave. Liumei’s boyfriend reflexively glanced at the car logo on the keys.

Since he entertained the thought of returning, he would often look at car magazines, imagining a future with a house, car, woman, and child. His parents worked hard all their lives without saving much, so to achieve that, some ”support” from the woman might be ”required.”

Liumei said her parents were ordinary civil servants. He was worried about the financial pressure of being with such a woman, but when Liumei inadvertently revealed she was buying a house, he immediately thought it was only right and ”fair” for her to contribute the house and the car.

Qian didn’t miss the subtle change in the man’s expression. She patted Liumei’s shoulder, ”Your brother said to treat them well, here’s some money.”

She casually took out a wad of brand new hundred-yuan bills from her small bag, worth several thousand.

The man and his mother’s eyes were drawn to them.

”Sister-in-law, you don’t have to...” Liumei didn’t understand what was happening, why was her sister-in-law giving her money?

Bai Bai couldn’t fathom Qian’s intention, hitting them was definitely Qian’s style, but why give a sweet treat afterward? Based on her knowledge of Qian, Qian would never convenient those she disliked, so why give money?

”Take it, it’s your brother’s idea. After the meal, take this tomato-covered-girl with swollen eyes to the mall and buy some clothes or something. It’s others’ lack of upbringing; it’s their issue. Our Yu Family knows how to handle things,” Qian’s words carried weight, and she stealthily mocked Ma Qing.

”But why give me money? I have my own.” Liumei was never used to taking money from others, not even from someone close like Qian.

”Just take it,” Qian pushed the money into Liumei’s hand, patting her meaningfully.

”When chatting, keep your throat wet, don’t forget chrysanthemum tea.”

Mai returned after smoking several cigarettes, seeing this scene caused a sudden chill down his back. Although the witch tried to smile amiably, having suffered many times, Mai seemed to sense an ominous feeling behind Qian’s smile, experience gained from the losses endured.

What devious trick was this witch plotting now?
