Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Pulling Off Mischief While Talking, That’s How Smooth I Am

Yu Minglang didn’t intend to look, but, um-hum, he still saw.

Even beneath the white, the pink wrapping was visible; same style, same color, quite nice...

Qian’s slipper dropped as she jumped down, and Yu Minglang wanted to let her go to help pick it up, but Qian threw her arms around his waist, pressing herself against him.

Yu Minglang was instantly petrified.

His ears turned red, the color couldn’t be hidden.

The girl spoke softly in a sweet voice.

”I’m so scared!”

She said she was scared, but her eyes were cold and calm. Yu Minglang was caught off guard by her sudden coquettish action, unsure of where to place his hands.

”It’s okay, I’ve already subdued them, don’t be afraid.” He stiffly comforted her.

Feeling something amiss, the girl in his arms seemed to have moved her leg, Yu Minglang looked down.

There’s no way Qian would let him see what she planned to do, she clung to his waist, refusing to let go, slightly pushing her leg back to inconspicuously hook the remaining burning newspaper scraps and kick them towards the gasoline.

She did it with her bare foot, it was a bit hot, but Qian didn’t care about that. She quickly kicked the flame over, fearing Yu Minglang would notice her little actions, she clung to his waist, speaking continuously.

”I’m really scared...”

Hehe, really scared, can’t mess with these bad guys, huh~

Talking and causing trouble at the same time, that’s how slick she was!

The sparks hit the gasoline and instantly ignited, Yu Minglang frowned as Qian eagerly pushed him away, hopping onto the dropped slipper as the flames roared up.

”You—” Yu Minglang understood.

Under the firelight, Qian appeared exceptionally calm, her beautiful little face showed no panic.

He was fooled by this girl, she was up to mischief again...

Jia Xiufang finally emerged, seeing the roaring flames, she exclaimed in shock.

”Quick, call 119! Remember to clearly say in the call that it’s a gasoline fire, they should bring enough extinguishing agents!” Qian’s reminder made Jia Xiufang realize, and she stumbled back inside.

Yu Minglang looked around, spotting a sand pile in front of the neighbor’s house less than 10 meters away from Qian’s place, along with a wheelbarrow for transporting sand. Without hesitation, Yu Minglang quickly approached and started loading the sand.

Annoying fellow, he’s really smart!

Watching Yu Minglang’s swift actions, Qian mentally raised her middle finger at him. She intended to guide Yu Minglang to use water to extinguish the fire and didn’t expect him to be so clever.

A fire caused by gasoline must never be extinguished with water because water is heavier than oil; oil would float on the water, spreading the fire further.

Qian is a top student, and so is Yu Minglang, such simple physics knowledge wouldn’t escape him.

At this moment, her brother Chen Zilong arrived, shocked at the sight.

”Sis, you’re up playing with fire in the middle of the night?”

The flames were already over half a meter high, just near the pile of wood by Qian’s yard, as the laundromat used a stove for heating water, their family stored wood for kindling.

Seeing the fire about to spread to the wood, Chen Zilong stepped forward to move the wood away; once the fire spreads to the wood, extinguishing would be much harder.

Qian watched the lazybones trying to help, slightly smirked, then stuck out her leg and tripped Chen Dalong, causing him to fall flat, hands reaching forward, palms down, landing near the gasoline drum the culprits hadn’t managed to empty.

”Ouch!” Chen Zilong cried in pain as Qian approached with the intention to help him up, accidentally kicking the gasoline barrel!

Adding fuel to the fire, the flames surged!

The woodpile soaked in gasoline instantly caught fire.

”Watch out!” Yu Minglang had just loaded half of the sand into the cart and looked up to see Qian’s side suddenly more ablaze.

He rushed over, pulling Qian aside.

The fire was ferocious, and the three bad guys subdued by Yu Minglang, two were awake, realizing the situation was escalating, despite their injuries, they struggled to get up and fled.

Yu Minglang held onto Qian’s arm, his eyes sharp like a hawk, glaring at her.

”What exactly are you doing!” His voice involuntarily harshened.

No one else would notice Qian’s tricks, but Yu Minglang understood.

This fire was clearly something she started on purpose.

Even if he didn’t see her actions within those brief seconds while he fetched sand to extinguish the fire, Yu Minglang dared to assert it was definitely her antics!

Meanwhile, Chen Zilong was terrified, shouting.

”Someone come quick, there’s a fire!”

The nearby bungalows were connected, soon people came out, Jia Xiufang finished dialing the fire department and came out to see the fire had spread to her family’s woodpile, her face turned pale in fear.

”What’s going on...”

When she’d gone inside, it wasn’t like this!

The surroundings turned chaotic, some yelled to bring water, others shouted to extinguish the fire, Yu Minglang ignored the complexity, just glaring intensely at Qian.

Even if he wanted to extinguish it, it was uncontrollable, such a fire situation could only wait for firefighters.

”Do you know how dangerous this is!” Yu Minglang pulled Qian to a safe spot, a calm heart unexpectedly surged with uncontrollable rage.

To be a top sniper requires emotional control far beyond ordinary people.

Yu Minglang had forgotten the last time he was this livid, but at this moment, all his emotions were driven by this reckless girl.

”What did I do? Weren’t they the ones who came to set fire in my home? Those two arsonists ran away, aren’t you going to chase them?”

Yu Minglang pointed a finger at Qian’s nose, his fingertip less than an inch from it, though he said nothing, his gesture clearly indicated.

Just you wait!

Turning around, he went to chase the fleeing culprits, Qian snorted.

Wait, then wait, who’s afraid of whom!

She wished the fire would spread bigger, the bigger the better! With the fire burning, these people wouldn’t just be attempted arsonists, the penalties would be different.

The fire truck arrived four minutes later, spraying extinguishing agents, quickly gaining control of the flames, and less than three minutes later, the police arrived, taking the two thugs captured by Yu Minglang along with the unlucky one who was still unconscious back to the station.

Qian’s house’s exterior wall was charred black over a large area, and neighbors gathered around, whispering.

Jia Xiufang and Chen Zilong, still shaken, while Qian had a smile on her face.

Hehe, now this is fun.

”Could one of you come with us and assist in our investigation.” Someone said to Qian.

Qian spoke, ”I’ll go with you for the investigation.”

”I’m going too.” Yu Minglang glared at Qian, mischievous girl, just you wait!
