Incredible Insight: Toy Factory Discovers Swarm Drones

Chapter 63 Explosion! Speed 300km/hIn the workshop, Li Jiajun had completely entered the state of a ”technical fanatic,” forgetting to eat and sleep.

He locked himself in his private R&D office for an entire day and night, not even stopping to eat the seafood buffet Big Dachui had sent over. The whiteboard in the office was covered with dense engine structural diagrams, electromagnetic coil winding formulas, and energy conversion matrices that looked like gibberish to outsiders.

The next day, when he pushed open the office door with heavy dark circles under his eyes but an exceptionally excited look, he was already holding a thick stack of brand-new design blueprints that still smelled of printer ink.

”Everyone, come over! Stop messing around with that junk in your hands, we’ve got new work!”

He waved to the workers busy with some scattered orders on the assembly line, his voice slightly raspy from long periods of focus and excitement.

The ”Big Smart One” manager, Wang Dachui, was the first to trot over. His face was full of infinite worship for his factory director as he asked flatteringly, ”Director, do you have new instructions? What are we building this time? A flying saucer or a tank?”

Li Jiajun rolled his eyes at him, feeling speechless.

”What are you thinking? We are a serious toy factory,” he said nonchalantly, as if he had only done something trivial. ”The power system for that previous children’s car project had a small issue, so I gave it an upgrade.”

He distributed the blueprints to several core technical Master Craftsmen and began explaining the manufacturing points in the most concise and direct language.

”Old Zhang, the coils for this part must use the highest purity 9N-grade oxygen-free copper. Wind them strictly according to this ’Hui’ character bidirectional cross-topology structure. The number of turns is 3,652. Remember, not a single turn can be wrong!”

”Old Wang, the installation positions of these permanent magnet poles are specific. You must use a laser calibrator for 3D positioning. The installation error cannot exceed 0.01 millimeters, or it will affect the magnetic field balance.”

”And for this energy controller, I’ll solder the circuit board myself. You guys are responsible for injection molding the casing in one go using the best P-EEK insulation material...”

Although the Master Craftsmen only half-understood terms like ”topology structure” and ”P-EEK material”—things they had never even heard of—they had developed a blind trust in their young factory director ever since witnessing the power of that ”Frankenstein” production line.

In their eyes, whatever the director said was the truth. Whatever the director told them to do, they would do, and it would definitely be right!

Li Jiajun’s live stream was also running, with the camera fixed in a perfect position overlooking the entire workbench. Netizens from all over the country watched this group of people clanking away around a pile of blueprints and parts as complex as an aerospace engine, and the bullet comments started a new round of heated discussion.

”What new invention is the Streamer making now? This thing doesn’t look like a toy at all, does it?”

”Holy crap, is he building an engine? Didn’t we agree on a children’s car? Why do I feel like this thing is more complex than the engine in my Passat?”

”Don’t make a fuss, those in the front. This is basic operation. For the Main Streamer, crafting a nuclear warhead is no different from molding a clay figurine.”

Under Li Jiajun’s personal hands-on guidance and the efficient execution of the workers’ superb craftsmanship, it took only one day to complete the initial test version of a strangely shaped ”Miniaturized High-Power Pulsed Electromagnetic Drive Engine” full of futuristic industrial design beauty.

It looked like a silver-gray metal disc about forty centimeters in diameter. Its surface was covered with precision-engineered cooling fins and visible, perfectly wound copper-colored coil structures. It sat quietly on the workbench, looking less like an engine and more like a work of art from the future.

Wang Dachui circled the engine in wonder. He felt that if this thing were entered into the Red Dot Design Award, it could win a gold prize based on its impeccable sci-fi appearance alone.

”Director, this... it’s already done?” he asked in disbelief. The speed was simply too fast.

”Yeah, it’s just an engine, no big deal. Come on, find a frame, let’s test its performance first.”

Li Jiajun nodded calmly and directed the workers to drag out a go-kart frame from the corner of the warehouse that was covered in a thick layer of dust and of unknown vintage. Then, they hurriedly installed this brand-new, futuristic engine onto it in the most crude manner.

The whole process was like mounting an F-35 fighter jet engine onto a rusty old bicycle from a scrapyard, filled with a strong, absurd sense of incongruity.

The test site was on the open concrete ground outside the factory.

Li Jiajun held a tablet computer as a wireless controller and spoke to the camera in a tone like he was about to announce a lottery prize: ”family, next is the moment to witness a miracle. For safety’s sake, and to avoid running this crappy frame into pieces, let’s start with ten percent power and just wander around a bit.”

As he spoke, he lightly—almost imperceptibly—pushed the virtual power slider on the tablet up a tiny bit.

The next second.

The go-kart frame with the new engine didn’t make the roar of a traditional engine; there was only a faint, almost inaudible ”hum” like an electric current passing through.

Then, before anyone on site could react, it instantly turned into a black blur that was almost invisible and vanished from the spot with a ”whoosh!”

Wang Dachui and the watching workers only felt a blast of wind slam against their cheeks, blowing their hair wild and forcing their eyes shut. When they opened their eyes again, the dilapidated go-kart had already reached the end of the open space a hundred meters away. Because the speed was too fast, the braking system couldn’t react in time, and it slammed hard into the distant perimeter wall.

”Clang!”

A deafening crash echoed. That perimeter wall, built of solid red bricks and cement, was actually smashed through, leaving a huge gap with bricks flying everywhere and dust filling the air. As for that poor go-kart frame, it had completely scattered into a pile of twisted iron scrap.

The scene fell into a deathly silence.

The jaws of Wang Dachui and the workers nearly hit the ground. They all stared blankly at the distant ”accident scene,” feeling as if their brains had been formatted into a complete void.

Ten percent power... and it does this?

If the power was turned up to one hundred percent, wouldn’t it just fly around the Earth in one go?

Li Jiajun was also stunned for a moment. He hadn’t expected the engine’s actual power to be even greater than his theoretical calculations. But his focus was clearly different from everyone else’s. He quickly walked over to the wreckage, picked up the core silver-gray disc, blew the dust off it, and sighed in relief when he found it was completely intact despite such a violent impact.

’Fortunately, the core component isn’t broken. It’s just that this crappy car frame is too trashy, like it’s made of paper,’ he thought to himself.

Then, he looked down at the speedometer connected to his tablet, which clearly displayed a number that would make any F1 driver’s scalp tingle—”300km/h.”

Seeing this number, Li Jiajun unconsciously frowned, an unsatisfied expression appearing on his face. He began to mutter his inner thoughts aloud again: ”Sigh, only three hundred kilometers per hour, still a bit slow. It seems the purity of the copper used for the drive coils wasn’t high enough, the energy loss is still a bit large, and the magnetic field strength didn’t reach the theoretical peak. Oh well, for a kid to use as a ’neighborhood racing king,’ it should be barely enough.”

This extremely humble-bragging remark was transmitted clearly to the live stream through the microphone clipped to his collar.

The bullet comments, which had been silent due to the terrifying speed and the impact, were instantly and completely ignited!

”???? What did I just hear? Three hundred kilometers per hour... and he thinks it’s slow? You call this barely enough?!”

”He’s crazy! The Streamer is completely insane! You call this a children’s car? This is a cruise missile with wheels!”

”neighborhood racing king? I’m afraid if he steps on the gas, he’ll directly become the ’Crematorium King’ of the whole city! Not even ashes will be left!”

”Main Streamer, are you sure this is for kids? At this speed, an F1 driver would have to change their pants first!”

...

Li Jiajun looked at the screen full of doubts and amazement. He seemed to completely miss the point of the Netizens, instead thinking everyone was marveling at his epoch-making invention. He said smugly, voicing his thoughts again: ”It seems my new invention in the toy world has completely shocked these Netizens who haven’t seen much of the world. Maybe someone is already kneeling in front of the screen in worship. They must think my invention is a cross-generational leap for the entire toy industry.”

This self-satisfied narration left the Netizens, who were still in shock, completely dumbfounded.

The style of the bullet comments changed instantly.

”No, which eye did you see us being shocked with? We just think this invention of yours isn’t for kids at all.”

”Right! What we mean is, this thing you made isn’t a toy at all!”

”This isn’t a toy at all, is it?”

Trendy Toy Factory: ”Forget the toy world, our toy world won’t take you!”

Among them was even a fellow peer from the toy industry.

...

Li Jiajun looked at these comments and, appearing not to understand but actually just being stubborn, said: ”It seems these Netizens are being stubborn. Clearly, their hearts have been completely won over by my genius design, but they won’t admit it. What a difficult group of people.”

This complaint left the Netizens completely speechless.

”We really think this thing isn’t a toy! Please, look at our sincerity!”

”Are we being stubborn, or are you being stubborn? Wake up, Main Streamer!”

”Yeah, are we being stubborn, or are you? What we mean is that this thing you made isn’t a toy at all!”

Seeing the screen almost covered with ”This is not a toy,” Li Jiajun finally felt like he couldn’t hold it in anymore and couldn’t pretend not to understand. He cleared his throat and decided to force a change of subject: ”Ahem. That’s not the point. I’ve decided to give this new toy a resounding name! One full of childlike wonder!”

He rubbed his chin, pretending to think, then suddenly clapped his hands: ”Got it! It’ll be called ’dragon knight no. 1’!”

He said proudly to the camera: ”Look, family, this name sounds like a toy car that kids would love. So much childlike wonder! dragon rider—it sounds full of heroic spirit!”

...

The Netizens in the live stream were completely at a loss for words, feeling a wave of numbness in their hearts.

dragon knight no. 1? How the hell does that sound like a kid’s toy name, hey!

Before the Netizens could start a new round of complaints, Li Jiajun decisively waved at the camera, using his ultimate move: ”Alright, I’ll show everyone the finished version with the stealth coating in three days! That’s it for today, ending the stream!”

With that, without giving the Netizens any time to react, he cut the stream.

He left hundreds of thousands of Netizens in the blacked-out live stream room, bewildered and feeling mentally exhausted by this Streamer who didn’t follow the script, their blood pressure soaring.

Damn it, you knew we were going to complain, so you just hung up the stream, didn’t you?
