Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 793: Chapter 791: At the Public Teleportation Gate

Stepping out from the Teleportation Gate, Gu Xi looked around. He found himself standing on a busy street.

It seemed that he had entered through a public teleportation gate on a street, and thus ended up at a public teleportation gate on the street as well.

However, as Gu Xi glanced around, he wondered about the snow piled on either side of the street.

He clearly remembered that Bailian City was in the southern marsh and lake region, where it never snowed all year round.

But the thick snow before him clearly indicated a northern, frigid region.

Looks like he was out of Bailian City.

Nevertheless, he finally returned to his territory.

Gu Xi thought for a moment and then found a place akin to a newsstand.

He first glanced at the newspapers and magazines in the newsstand, then turned his gaze to a white candle standing among a pile of miscellaneous books on the newsstand.

At this moment, an old man sitting in the newsstand lifted his head slightly.

”Hey buddy, what are you looking for?”

Gu Xi flicked his hand, and a bit of Negative Energy landed in the old man’s hand.

”Excuse me, sir, may I ask which city this is? I seem to have lost my way after exiting the game.”

The old man chuckled, ”I could tell right away what happened to you. You came into the game through a public teleportation gate, didn’t you?”

”Yes, I connected with some friends from other cities, made an online trade, but had a small issue when exiting,”

Gu Xi replied with a smile.

”I thought so. Let me tell you, this is Pei Xin City. Have you heard of the Three Great Migrations?”

”Yes, after Ancestor City was established, three major migrations organized by the authorities set up three public cities: the industrial center, Changzi City, the administrative center, Pei Xin City, and the economic center, Demon Chaos City.

Afterward, players discovered and gradually developed those new cities themselves.

Since then, Ancestor City has become a core city district, only accessible to Level 15 and higher players.

Gu Xi knew this part of history well.

”Good, now you know. We’re in the Blue District of Pei Xin City, within the seventh ring of Pei Xin City. Over there is the Postal Building, where couriers and messengers can access all cities and games. No matter where the person you want to contact is, you can send mail from here.

They ensure the mail gets delivered at the first opportunity.

I imagine you were sent here because something went wrong at the public teleportation gate when you entered the game and you didn’t choose a specific location to exit, so they just sent you here.”

The old man said with a sense of pride.

Gu Xi turned his head to look, and in the direction the old man pointed, saw a large number of seagulls carrying or hauling large and small parcels as they flew out from a skyscraper.

Some flew straight outside the city, and others opened small Teleportation Gates, disappearing into thin air.

It was obvious these seagulls moved at high speeds and had the privilege of accessing games, making them far superior to the Chaoyang Radiance Guild’s crows.

”Don’t keep staring; it’s nothing special. I’m telling you, the Postal Building sends out messengers every five minutes, with a hundred thousand flying out each time.

You get used to watching them.”

As the old man spoke, a seagull flew over and dropped a large mailbag in front of him.

The old man, while bantering with Gu Xi, opened the mailbag, took out new newspapers and magazines for the newsstand, and gathered the expired ones to put aside.

While the old man arranged the newspapers, Gu Xi couldn’t help but ask, ”Hey, sir, do you update newspapers this quickly?”

”That’s right. Let me tell you; newspapers are all about timeliness. New things happen almost every minute. Without quick updates, the newspaper office couldn’t survive.”

Gu Xi asked, ”Why not use other methods? There aren’t many places selling newspapers in our city.”

”Ha, that’s because you don’t understand.

In some worlds, you can take newspapers inside without issue. But if you bring devices to watch news, you might not find any news to watch.

And there are things here you’ll find different, see for yourself.”

With that, the old man stuffed a newspaper into Gu Xi’s hands.

Gu Xi opened the newspaper and saw that most of it contained guides to Game Worlds, with information on weapon and equipment sales, among other things.

While Gu Xi was puzzled about why the old man gave him the newspaper, he sensed a calming aura emanating from it.

Gu Xi immediately understood what was going on.

Reading the newspaper helped alleviate the side effects of reading some High Level books.

With this discovery, Gu Xi wasn’t overly excited since he had experience with the real world.

The newspaper before him wasn’t particularly remarkable to him.

He glanced up at the Postal Building, pondered seriously, and asked.

”If I subscribe to the newspaper, will it be delivered regardless of where I am?”

”Of course. Let me tell you a real story. A player got trapped in a closed Game World, cut off from contacting the outside world, and eventually, a seagull found him while delivering newspapers.

He finally escaped the game when he asked the seagull to send out a letter.

Think about it. If they can deliver mail to closed Game Worlds, you know these seagulls are something else.”

Hearing the old man’s boasting, Gu Xi hesitated to subscribe to newspapers.

Gu Xi wasn’t like everyone else; he could enter the real world.

Currently, Ancestor City is embarking on a Creation saga.

All preparations aim toward breaking into the real world.

Gu Xi couldn’t guarantee what events might unfold if they learned he could enter the real world.

Without the means to protect himself, Gu Xi wouldn’t willingly expose this ability.

However, those newspapers were quite interesting, so Gu Xi said, ”Sir, do you have many recycled newspapers? If you don’t need them, why not just give them to me?”

”What do you want them for? The information changes every five minutes. Anyway, I won’t stop you, but if you’re looking for guides, you should buy some magazines.

We have things like guide collections here.”

The old man’s suggestion was good, but he underestimated Gu Xi’s abilities.

”No thanks, I’ll take whatever you have here. I happen to have a few Libraries needing book supplies, so give me three sets of all these newspapers and magazines.”
