What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 976: What Did My Girls Get Involved In?

Well... I was honestly fully prepared to just bring Freyja back to the ship before Valiea suddenly regained consciousness again.

”Ha?! Ha... What... Honey? Why are you... Tera? What happened? I thought I saw...”

Her voice caught in her throat when she realised that she did not dream up the earlier scenario and Freyja was still seated beside me.

She froze up again and I thought she might faint one more time but she seemed to be able to hang onto her consciousness this time as she still help up her husband while slowly raising a hand to point at Freyja.

”Te... Tera? That... That is...”

I patted Freyja on the head which actually made her flinch as if I was smacking her instead.

”This is Freyja. She’s cute, isn’t she?” I introduced casually.

Valiea looked at me like I had just shown her a giant killing machine and called it cute.

”C... Cu... Cute? Tera? What is cute?”

I patted Freyja again, ”Her of course~ Look at her panting with her tongue sticking out~ So cute~”

Freyja looked up at me, doing exactly what I was saying as she let out a whine of content as her tail wagged behind her.

Ehehehe~ So cute~

Valiea gulped audibly, ”That... That is... A dog... Tera... You are... You are standing beside a dog...”

”Yes, a very cute one~”

She opened and closed her mouth repeatedly like a drowning fish before Lea suddenly appeared beside her and clasped a hand over her shoulder, giving the four armed bartender a slow shake of her head.

What was that supposed to mean, Lea?!

Although... That seemed to have appeased Valiea somewhat as she closed her mouth before nodding and managed to fully recover, her arms wrapping themselves around Ragbar even though he was still unconscious.

Well... To be fair... He most likely has seen real life dogs before and witnessed how dangerous they could be first hand during his time within the Inner Colonies. For Valiea, she most likely only knew or heard about them through second hand accounts so... Ragbar passing out is completely normal.

I pulled back my hand and Freyja gave my fingers a lick before going back to sitting beside me while watching the area around me, her tail still wagging cutely.

”I cleared my throat, ”Ahem... So... I guess you and Ragbar wouldn’t want my dog in your house so I’ll just bring her back to my ship first. You can send me the location of your place later and I’ll come over once I drop her off.”

With this arrangement, I could also drop off Nerissa’s dinner as well so this would be perfect.

She nodded at me, though her eyes remained locked on Freyja as though she was expecting her to just attack her randomly.

Quick reminder that these two have faced thugs and assassins before without batting an eye and a dog got them like this...

Oh well...

I left my girls with them before heading out of the club, collecting my weapons along the way.

Stepping outside, the streets were still quite full despite the fact that it was technically in the early hours in the morning right now.

I’m so glad we don’t work a nine to five job and have to get up early in the morning for work today.

Although if I were to look around, it looked like most of the people around were simply visiting Mercs who weren’t able to secure a place to sleep for the night and were just milling about the streets trying to get themselves comfortable to settle for the night.

But as I walked through the streets, I realised that there were actually some people who were denizens of the station and were either living in what was essentially the slums or the streets of the station.

I wonder what happened to these people to end up in their current positions but decided it was ultimately none of my business.

But while I was making my way towards the docking arm where my ship was docked, several fully armoured men suddenly appeared in the middle of the street to block my way. Amongst them were even four guys in Power Armour suits as well.

I was wondering if something happened up ahead which was why they were blocking the way or something, but the guy who was leading the group eyed Freyja for a moment before turning his gaze to me.

”You... We need you to come with us.”

I blinked at the guy, ”What for? Did I do something wrong?”

”We just want to have a talk. Please cooperate.”

I frowned at him, ”And who are you to ask me to do that?”

He gestured towards himself, ”We are part of the security forces of this station. I ask again, please cooperate and come with us. Please...”

The last plea sounded like he was pleading for himself rather than for me.

I guess even with four Power Armours, they were still afraid that Freyja would fold them like a book... And I believe she actually could if she really wanted to...

Around us, various passers-by had stopped to watch the interaction but most of them had moved as far away as they could from us, opting to watch from a distance instead.

Some had even taken out their personal terminals to start recording as though they were expecting me to get my dog to kill these people right in front of them.

I crossed my arms, ”You’re going to need to tell me why you are detaining me though? There must be a reason you brought this many people and this much firepower just to have a talk with me right?”

Everyone’s eyes shifted down to Freyja by my side, clearly thinking that they really needed that much firepower because of Freyja.

Come on... She’s cute. She’s a cutie pie~ Your Power Armours are scary.

Nevertheless, the leader did not point that out and merely turned back to me, ”There has been a situation and we believe you might be involved. We would just like to ask some questions to determine some things. If you are innocent, you have nothing to worry about.”

A situation?

Wait... It can’t be those thugs I scared off for that guy right? Did they go report that I robbed them or something? Like they went to the police and told them somebody used a dog to rob them of their Credits and their weapons so they’re hoping that they can get their stuff back like that?

Can they actually do something like that? That sounds pretty stupid if the rules here allowed that...

Whatever... I believe Renata has a recording of what happened anyway so even if it’s that, I can just show them the video and prove that it was self defense.

I nodded at him, ”Very well. What do you want to ask?”

The leader gestured to the side, ”Not here... Please follow us...”

He turned and started leading me down a side street and the onlookers looked disappointed that it didn’t actually dissolve into a fight.

I followed behind him as the others surrounded me with the four guys in Power Armour following behind, putting them in a prime position to shoot me from behind if they wanted to.

He led me down a side path to an alley between two buildings and I couldn’t help but worry at this route we were taking.

”Renata... Are they legit?” I whispered.

There was a pause before Renata’s voice came from beside my ear, ”Scans show that they are indeed registered as the security team of the station, Daddy.”

Ok... Then I don’t need to worry about them being some assassins or something sent to target me...

The guy then stopped in the middle of the alley before turning to face me, prompting the others to take up positions around me as they eyed Freyja warily.

The leader then pulled out his personal terminal and projected a screen in front of me, ”Recognise this?”

The screen showed what appeared to be some kind of parking space where there were several dead bodies laid out on the ground.

I would have wondered why they would pin such a thing on me until I noticed that the bodies were literally torn and slashed apart.

Some were even twisted and broken with their heads and limbs torn off.

I can see why they would think the person with the dog had done this...

Obviously I wasn’t the person who did that but... There was one problem... I probably know who did that...

Amber? Mara? Why the heck did you two, or at least one of you, tear these people up with your powers and then just leave their bodies there? What did these people even do to you?

I managed to keep my face neutral and shook my head, ”I don’t.”

”You’re not involved? This happened around four hours ago.”

”Four hours ago... I was at the Mercenary Guild looking for hustles. I think you should be able to check that.”

The leader was silent for a moment and I assumed he might be calling someone through his helmet’s comms internally to check if what I said was true.

It didn’t even take long before he nodded at me and his body relaxed, ”Understood. We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.”

The people behind me then stepped aside, allowing me to leave.

Oh? That simple? They really brought me all the way back here just to ask that question huh?

They’re probably glad that I wasn’t the perpetrator since they also didn’t want to be close to a dog either.

Now... I wonder if I should ask my girls what this was about?
