Primordial Villain with a Slave Harem

Chapter 1183: Advice From the General

He now understood why he and Black Fang did not get along – well, Black Fang didn’t get along with any of the other six department heads, but from what he knew, Maelstrom had some allies.

However, Black Fang was too foreign to him. She was akin to a force of nature he couldn’t grasp or control, making it impossible to predict her next moves.

Men like him hated that.

Quinlan looked at Black Fang, wondering what her response would be. He knew that Maelstrom’s accusations weren’t quite right; if their places were swapped, Black Fang would’ve gone to hunt Morgana down even if she didn’t hate the woman on a personal level.

Such was the mindset of this venomous predator: she was a hunter on an existential level. When presented with a worthy prey and a good opportunity, she’d jump on it.

Maelstrom, meanwhile, dreaded the possibility of losing and thus making his standing in the syndicate worsen.

Instead of gambling on possibly killing Morgana, he’d much rather secure an easy victory by chasing after the defeated Fujimori army.

Even if he didn’t catch up to them – which was quite likely, especially if Kaede was healed in the meantime and could teleport them away – that did not matter. On his resume, what would appear is that he bravely took the Consortium army, rushed to the stronghold he wanted to defend, and chased the enemies away from it.

“You think of risk as if it were sin. Perhaps that’s the reason why the glory you have been so desperately chasing all your life has – and always will – elude you.” Black Fang declared and, not waiting for an answer, turned around and left.

She knew better than anyone that persuading this old fool to take the worthy gamble would not work out; it was a futile effort, so she did not attempt to do so.

Maelstrom’s composure nearly shattered immediately as he watched the woman’s retreating back.

His face twisted, and his eyes flashed so dark they almost seemed to hollow out. For a heartbeat, Quinlan thought he might actually attack the woman. The air tightened.

Black Fang, right now, was drained. If Maelstrom lunged, she might not be fast enough to block. After all, while the man was weaker than her, the gap was not big enough to overcome her perilous state.

But in the end, the man did not move. His anger burned inward instead, pressed down beneath the weight of pride. He exhaled through his nose, then turned his glare toward Quinlan.

“Boy,” he began with a grave voice. “Choose your company carefully. A faulty cannon will shoot itself down before long. Don’t let a pretty face ruin your life; you must choose your allies very carefully. Ambition means nothing if you pledge your loyalty to the wrong person.”

His tone carried that of an old soldier who’d clawed his way up the ladder, the kind who saw everyone else as either a pawn or a potential rival. It was an obvious attempt at making Black Fang appear as a threat while he himself was the exact kind of boss he should serve under.

But Quinlan was no longer content to serve anyone.

Black Fang treated him with respect and imposed zero restrictions on him. She treated him as an equal – especially after their fight against the Lilies – while Maelstrom would be a condescending cunt to be around, Quinlan could already tell.

But, truth be told, it did not matter one bit. No one could persuade him to leave Black Fang behind. Even if the woman wasn’t a woman he was very deeply interested in, Quinlan wouldn’t stab a person who’d done so much for him just to work under a coward.

Because that was what he was. Black Fang put it perfectly.

Despite being more than twice the age of Black Fang, this old bastard was lower leveled than her.

As the Army General.

How ridiculous was that?

He must not have taken one tenth of the risks Black Fang took to get to where she was in life.

Therefore, Quinlan met his gaze without blinking. For a few seconds, neither spoke. Then he gave a short nod.

“I’m grateful for your words of wisdom, Lord Maelstrom. May you have a successful hunt.”

The old general’s expression shifted, extremely unhappy with the response he received. When it became clear to him that Quinlan was not going to be persuaded to jump ship, especially not in this time-constrained situation, he gave a sharp snort and turned away.

“Form up!” he barked to his soldiers. “We’re moving. I want the trail of the slit eyed bitches found right fucking now!”

His officers hurried to obey with their boots thudding across the blood-soaked field as banners rippled under the light once again.

The chase was about to begin, but Quinlan would not partake in it. He had a myriad of important things to do right now.

He was done with fights for the day.

And just like that, the battle was over. The stronghold stood. Quinlan gained four whole levels and bolstered his Elite Souls to a total of exactly 14.

It was a successful fight; beyond that, there was no need to push his luck.

Having thought it over and come to a decision, Quinlan rose from the ground.

He angled toward the ramparts where his girls waited.

The moment he landed, Blossom bolted forward and wrapped her arms around him with all the force her frame could muster.

“The people love Master so much now! Blossom is so happy!” she beamed with her tail wagging so fast it outright blurred like a plane’s propeller.

Her joy was infectious. Quinlan let out a short laugh while he shamelessly planted both his hands on the girl’s perfect asscheeks, allowing himself two firm grabs of her heavenly flesh, which, thanks to her desire to wear BDSM-style black leather gear, was easily felt even through her ‘armor.’

She melted into the gesture with a soft, content purr while she tiptoed to give the love of her life even greater access to the bakery.

He looked past her shoulder at the rest of his group, greeted by tired but joyous faces.

“I’m proud of you all,” he decreed. “Excellent job today.”

They didn’t answer right away, and many dry expressions greeted Quinlan as his hands were still busy massaging his first woman’s butt before their very eyes, having zero shame whatsoever.

However, their expressions soon turned into full smiles. This was the man they knew, the man they loved. No one expected Quinlan to change his ways.

It had been a long day.

A hard and strenuous one. But they’d won.

It was time to go home.
