Primordial Villain with a Slave Harem

Chapter 1171: The Feelings of Souls

Silence followed. Scar didn’t answer immediately. Her lips parted, closed, and parted again as if she was struggling to summon the words. Confusion showed on her face. Her eyes darted around as though searching for something to help the woman find her answer. Finally, she lowered her gaze. Her voice was faint, uncertain.

“I… think I would like it.”

For the briefest moment, there was a spark in her eyes as she lifted them toward Quinlan. She quickly turned away, but he caught it.

A quiet chuckle escaped him at the sight. He was happy with her answer. “You’ll have plenty of time to sort your feelings out. It must all still feel very new to you.”

He leaned back, satisfied. “But it seems you’re not an emotionless husk. That makes me curious to see how you’ll develop from here. For now, I can promise you this: I despise child abusers with all my heart, and I will fight for your cause.”

“!!” Scar’s body jolted at his declaration.

“Furthermore, I now have ten Elite Souls, you included. Among them, you should be the most experienced. If you want, you can be their leader.”

This time, the spark in her eyes returned full force. Pride filled her features in a way no one had expected to see from the cold killer. Without hesitation, she bent her entire spine in a deep bow.

“I accept the responsibility, Master.”

It didn’t take a genius to figure out that for a soul summon, being given a bigger role felt the greatest honor. After all, they seemed to be loyal to a fault. Representing and supporting their master aligned with their innate desire for excellence in servitude.

But claiming such a thing based on the attitude of a single summon would be quite the reckless thing to do.

Quinlan paused, feeling curiosity stir in his chest. He wanted to study this phenomenon more closely.

One by one, the rest of his Elite Souls appeared. First came Eve and Veyrin, the earliest of his named summons, the foundation of his powers. Then followed the seven Fujimori soldiers he had claimed in battle. Ten in total now stood before him, a full squad of his finest.

His Soul Reaper and Necromantic Codex shone brilliantly as he poured power into their forms.

Rank 4.

Their presence sharpened instantly, no longer the silent enforcers of before, but soldiers who could think, speak, and serve with sharpened wills.

As one, the nine knelt before him in a perfect, unified motion. Their heads lowered, so much so that their foreheads nearly touched the ground in a gesture of absolute fealty.

Voices rang out together, chillingly synchronized.

“Master. We await your command.”

The sight was nothing short of overwhelming. A squad of deathly loyalty, kneeling in silence as if the world outside no longer mattered.

Quinlan’s lips tugged upward. This was his power. This was his dominion. The pesky Corpse Animators could not even think of achieving such a thing.

“From this moment, Scar will serve as your captain.”

Nine heads rose in unison. Their eyes shifted to Scar. Respect shone in their gazes, but so too did something else; an edge of poorly hidden jealousy. The tension was palpable, but none dared utter a word against his decree. Against their master, even envy found no voice.

Scar, for her part, looked full of pride. She gave a sharp nod and declared, “I will not fail you, Master.”

And the nine answered as one.

“We follow.”

Ayame was the first to speak up, immediately utilizing the situation to her advantage.

“What can you tell me about Kaede Fujimori?”

Ito, Quinlan’s first Elite Soul from the Fujimori ranks, answered. “We were not told the specifics. The elders kept everything about our newest leader very closely.”

Ayame’s head turned toward Scar, who voiced her thoughts immediately.

“She did not open up to us about the nature of her powers. What she did instead was challenge Lilith to a duel. For an eighteen-year-old girl, fighting Lilith should have meant instant defeat. Yet she fought her on equal footing, at least when it came to raw strength. Lilith only managed to come out on top because Kaede lacked experience. The girl was strong enough to force Lilith to work for her victory. With the absurdity of that display, she showed us she was not speaking utter nonsense about breaking the barrier.”

Black Fang stood from Quinlan’s hold, finally gathering enough strength to do so.

As she did, the purple-eyed woman noted, “I thought the same. In terms of pure numbers, Kaede is about as strong as Lilith and I. Her weakness lies only in how little real battle she has under her belt.”

She adjusted what little remained of her robes before adding, “But what I found perhaps just as unsettling was how fast she learned. In the middle of our fight, I saw her adjust and improve with every exchange. She grew sharper with each second that passed. If she continues like that, experience won’t remain her weakness for long.”

The redhead, tanned beauty had a question of her own. Serika looked at Scar with a studying gaze. “Scar, I wonder what you think about Kaede personally. Not what she told you, but your assumptions.”

Quinlan’s eyes moved to Serika with a brief spark of appreciation in his gaze. He noted the way his fiery lover had framed the question. Not only did it dig deeper into Kaede, but it once again tested Scar and her ability to think instead of merely obey.

Scar was silent for a few moments. But she didn’t need long to collect her thoughts. “She is not a natural combatant, maybe not even a human. Her power is not earned. I suspect her sword plays a role in her rapid growth. Whether it is the blade itself that grants her strength, or if it amplifies power coming from somewhere else, I cannot say. But the weapon is significant.”

Serika inclined her head with a little smile, already having taken a liking to Scar. “Thank you. That is along the lines of what we suspected as well.”

*BOOM!*

A thunderous blast rattled the air above them, and a streak of light smashed against the stronghold’s barrier. The magical wall rippled from the impact before settling again, but the message was clear. The battle had not ended.

Quinlan rose to his feet, and his eyes shifted to the woman before him: Black Fang.

“You’re all bloody, and your clothes are about to fall off. May I offer you a quick shower and a fresh set of clothes?”

*sniff* *sniff* Blossom lifted her nose in Quinlan’s direction and sniffed. Then the blonde beauty declared,

The girls instantly sent Quinlan a dry look, knowing full well what was going on.

He offered the woman a bath and a new set of clothes because he didn’t want any other man to see her walking around practically naked.

That could only mean one thing.

Vex gasped with ashen features.

Ayame sighed deeply.

Feng gasped.
