Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

What’s wrong with our Fifth Young Master?

There are so many big issues, and he always tends to be indifferent, yet he called me here first thing in the morning to this flower hall for a lecture.

The housekeeper originally thought something serious had happened, but it turned out to be about giving too little money to that massage therapist.

The payment was double, and that young fellow kept saying it was too much, even thanked him, so why was it not okay for the Fifth Young Master?

That Cecilia Wilson seemed like an honest kid, not the type to stir up trouble, and the amount given was indeed ample.

The housekeeper cautiously asked, ”Fifth Young Master, how much would be appropriate to give?”

It seemed better to ask clearly, or else how much should be given when Cecilia Wilson comes today?

Having worked as a housekeeper all his life, he was considered a senior figure in the Foster Family. It seemed his work never allowed the old master and madam to find fault, yet as he aged disgracefully, he got reprimanded by the young master just because of a minor matter involving a small-time massage therapist.

”No need, I’ll handle it myself.” Fifth Master Foster said coldly, looking quite untrusting.

The housekeeper’s old tears were almost streaming down, as if the Fifth Young Master truly thought he couldn’t handle even the smallest things.

Fifth Master Foster looked at the sky, it hadn’t been such a shade of blue for a long time, which somewhat elevated his mood. Even though he hadn’t practiced for a couple of days, his body wasn’t sore, but with such fine weather, a massage would be a celebration.

Actually, Cecilia Wilson should also practice a bit, as he was too slender, and his waist seemed like it would snap with a pinch.

In the kitchen, bird’s nest soup was simmering. The old madam firmly believed in its health benefits, so a small bowl a day was mandatory. When the housekeeper brought it over, he saw the Fifth Young Master smiling to himself, sitting in a reclining chair with a genuine smile stretching his lips.

It was truly abnormal for him to smile alone.

What kind of person was their Fifth Young Master?

The madam’s health wasn’t good, and before the Fifth Young Master was born, she had failed to keep four children, including a pair of twins. After four miscarriages, she was severely weakened, leading the old master to decide against having more children, out of concern for her wellbeing.

But what kind of family was the Foster Family?

It was the oldest and most powerful family in the city. No matter which era it evolved into, there were always some unofficial businesses, all controlled by the Foster Family. Although not of overwhelming power or wealth to rival nations, it was close.

Just looking at these courtyard houses, the price of each would make one’s heart race, yet for the sake of peace and quiet, their Fifth Young Master bought an entire alley just to prevent strangers from coming and going.

When the madam became pregnant with the Fifth Young Master, she was determined to keep this child, lying in bed for the full nine months, not even daring to catch a cold for fear that a sneeze could end in disaster. After the Fifth Young Master was born, the whole family remained on tenterhooks.

They continued to live this cautious life until the Fifth Young Master grew into adulthood.

The madam liked to call him Little Five, but the Fifth Young Master had a name: Jaxon Foster. Madam said it was a gift from heaven, which is how he got the name, but the Fifth Young Master never liked it and didn’t let people call him by it. Gradually, no one knew the Fifth Young Master’s real name; everyone only knew him as Fifth Master Foster.

Later he earned the title ”Master” after an incident where the old master was kidnapped. The young master, usually refined, astonishingly went in alone for a negotiation, eventually dealing with over a dozen burly men himself, returning safely with both the money and the person. From then on, everyone respectfully called him Fifth Master, and he steadily took over all of the Foster Family’s underground businesses.

If not for the kidnapping incident, no one would have known what kind of person the Fifth Young Master was. Once the business fell into his hands, some dared to provoke, not even knowing how they died.

After the Fifth Young Master swiftly dealt with those people the old master had never properly managed, it became clear that in all these years, the true formidable figure in the Foster Family was Fifth Master Foster, although he had a quirk: he didn’t like women.

Not just in terms of romantic relations; even in household staffing, there couldn’t be any women. Once, a bodyguard who followed him returned from leave, possibly carrying the scent of women’s perfume, and the Fifth Young Master made him discard all his clothes and bathe five times before it was over.

So when Fifth Master Foster served a dish to Cecilia Wilson, the housekeeper had a small suspicion but dared not speak up.

What kind of family was the Foster Family? If such things got out, it would be catastrophic.

Should he mention it to the madam, maybe hint at it?

Having been a housekeeper for so long, watching the Fifth Young Master grow up, the Foster Family couldn’t just end like this, could it?

Watching Fifth Master Foster slowly eat that small bowl of bird’s nest soup, the housekeeper made up his mind. Even if it cost his old life, he could not let the Fifth Young Master make a mistake. He had to inform the madam about the Fifth Young Master’s odd behavior recently, staying true to her trust.

Fifth Master Foster finished the bird’s nest soup, and the housekeeper promptly handed over a cup of tea.

He disliked the fishy taste of bird’s nest, but the madam persistently insisted he have a bowl a day, so he always had a bit of tea afterwards to alleviate the taste.

At this moment, the housekeeper’s phone rang, and he hurried to a distant place to answer it.

”Butler Kent, Cecilia is on leave from today until after the New Year. Should you tell the Fifth Young Master first, or arrange for someone else? Master Chase’s hand has healed, should he go instead?” The manager of Honor Wellness Club called cautiously, because not long ago, an incident with the Fifth Young Master nearly scared him to death.

Luckily, he had acted clever that day, or the business might not have continued.

”Got it.” The housekeeper simply responded and hung up. In front of his master, he was cautious, but with others, he maintained a bit of an aristocratic demeanor befitting a large household.

Since waking up, the Fifth Young Master’s mood seemed odd, sometimes cheerful, sometimes irritable, making it difficult to broach the subject. Yet recently, every couple of days, the Fifth Young Master would call for Cecilia Wilson for a massage.

Despite the discomfort, it had to be said; the housekeeper approached, softly speaking to Fifth Master Foster who was seated and drinking tea: ”Fifth Young Master, Master Wilson is on leave starting today until after the fifteenth of the New Year. But Master Chase’s wrist has healed. Should we have Master Chase come for these days?”

”No...” Upon hearing the repeated refusal, the housekeeper felt uneasy. The tone was somewhat like a child’s petulance, a precursor to the Fifth Young Master losing his temper.

Who knows how many more years his old life could last? What trouble did Cecilia Wilson bring, making things so complicated now?

Fifth Master Foster’s expression gradually darkened, like a mist difficult to see through. The tea in his hand had cooled, yet he no longer sipped it. The housekeeper dared not remove the cup.

If something was in the Fifth Young Master’s hands, no one dared touch it, let alone move it.

All the servants fell silent, even those cleaning the courtyard trod lightly, quiet as cats. Yet in the silence, a crisp sound resounded, halting all activity, drawing everyone’s gaze towards the flower hall instinctively.

The housekeeper regretfully eyed the shattered cup on the floor, a famille rose porcelain tea cup. A set of six was valued at over one million two hundred thousand; now twenty thousand was smashed just for the sound it made.

Quickly bending to gather the pieces, he then watched the Fifth Young Master displeasedly retreat into his room.

All day, the housekeeper anxiously watched the Fifth Young Master’s door, which never reopened, not even for lunch.

No, he had to call the madam; this was no ordinary matter for the Foster Family.

Not having eaten for two meals, it might indeed cost him his old life.

”You all wait at the foot of the stairs, I’m going to my room for a moment.” He couldn’t make the call in front of the servants; it wouldn’t be good for the Fifth Young Master if overheard. The housekeeper hurried to his room, thinking about how to report this to the madam.

Fifth Master Foster half-reclined on the Arhat Couch, a usual spot during massages, speaking irritably with Atlas Hallow on the phone: ”Why would I be fast? I’ve had people check everywhere except your territory. I’m starting to suspect you hid that Ella Johnson somehow, because otherwise, how could I not find her?”

Having his capabilities doubted made Fifth Master Foster unhappy, his words tinged with a petulant tone.

”So fiery? Little Five, you really should find a woman to vent a little...” Atlas Hallow playfully said from the other end.

Before Atlas could finish speaking, he was met with the dial tone.

The call was abruptly disconnected; it seemed indeed he needed to vent. Even through the lines you could sense the Fifth Master Foster’s anger.

What had annoyed this young master?
