Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

”From today on, Lin Yiyi is a member of our Swift Leopard Team.”

”What happened before was all a misunderstanding, and our team didn’t really suffer any losses. So I hope none of you will hold anything against Lin Yiyi from now on. Let’s all get along.”

”Yiyi, get up quickly.” Xu Yu smiled, pursing her lips, and pulled the child up from the ground. ”Captain Zhuang has agreed to take you in. From now on, just follow us and work hard.”

”Thank you, all my big brothers and sisters.” Lin Yiyi bowed continuously in all four directions, but a dark, cold glint flashed in her eyes.

”Honey.” Zhuang Jia stepped forward and tugged on Luo Yanan, comforting him in a low voice. ”Let it go. She’s just a child. We’ll just have to keep a closer eye on her from now on.”

”Let’s keep her on for a few days as a trial. If she doesn’t behave, we can just have my brother kick her out then.”

Luo Yanan’s heart was filled with simmering anger. He felt that his brother-in-law was far too self-opinionated and headstrong, completely unwilling to listen to anyone’s well-intentioned advice.

Before the apocalypse, this flaw in his character had not yet been exposed.

After the apocalypse, because of his role as a team leader, he had grown accustomed to being arrogant and conceited, and this shortcoming gradually became apparent.

Zhuang Lei, with a grim face, motioned for everyone to get back in the vehicle.

Li Dawei and his group had already gotten in their vehicle and sped off long ago, right after dealing with Yan Zhong’s group of four.

They all fled faster than rabbits, probably wanting to rush back to the base to get their Contribution Points from Xie Ning and her team.

And that was indeed the case.

In the hall of the Survivor Center, just as Xie Ning had finished submitting her mission, Li Dawei arrived in a frantic hurry with his people.

The young woman glanced at him silently. ”A total of 1,100 kilograms of cotton were turned in, equivalent to 1,100 Contribution Points.”

”As we agreed beforehand, it’s a seventy-thirty split, your thirty. I’ll transfer 330 Contribution Points to you now.”

”That’s not right!” Li Dawei, who had procured a calculator from somewhere, started mashing the buttons. KLACK KLACK. ”It should be 366.67 Contribution Points.”

Xie Ning punched him on his big head. Beside them, Xu Bailiang and the others twitched their lips slightly.

”I told you to study more, but you wouldn’t listen! Where did you get 366.67 from?” Xie Ning kicked him. ”I’ll give you 366.67! 366.67! Get lost.”

Li Xiang hurried forward to grab his brother, his face flushing red. ”Bro, you calculated it wrong!”

”Thirty percent of 1,100 Contribution Points is indeed 330. Alright, alright, hurry up and go transfer it with Xie Ning.”

”How is that possible?” Li Dawei looked completely bewildered. ”Isn’t it 1,100 divided by 3?”

’He calculated it wrong? How could he have calculated it wrong? His grades in third grade were top of the class!’

Xu Bailiang raised a hand to cover his face.

Li Xiang barely dared to look at the disdainful glances from Xie Ning and her sister.

’What is going on?’

’Why do I always feel inferior in front of top students?’

’He and his brother were suffering from a lack of education!’

Li Xiang suddenly regretted not studying harder in elementary school.

Xie Ning couldn’t be bothered with them. She raised her fist at Li Dawei. ”Three! Two!”

”Coming, coming, coming, coming, coming!” Li Dawei scrambled to keep up with her, running toward the small service window.

After finishing the procedures and transferring the points, Xie Ning moved all the Contribution Points from the team’s public account to the members’ private accounts.

After a discussion, they decided that each person would get forty Contribution Points, and the rest would all be transferred to Captain Xie’s account.

Xie Ning had only been out of the base and back for a little over two hours.

Besides getting a pile of supplies for free, she also earned fifty Contribution Points. This trip was definitely not a waste!

”Let’s go.” Xie Ning instructed the younger siblings beside her. ”There’s nothing else for today. When we get back, practice your superpowers while you review your schoolwork.”

”Study hard and practice diligently. Don’t fall behind on your high school lessons! And definitely don’t be like *some people*, who can’t even do the most basic arithmetic!”

”Master science, math, and chemistry, and you can take on the world!”

Song Shijun and Song Kexin, who were hit by the stray remark, nodded their heads and turned to glare at Li Dawei!

Li Dawei, who was holding his Contribution Points Card and grinning like an idiot, looked up at his younger brother. ”Was Xie Ning talking about me?”

Li Xiang didn’t even want to talk to him.

’So embarrassing!’

The group exited the main gate of the Survivor Center.

Ge Yan walked up with a smile. ”Ningning, I’ll go back with you.”

”Okay.” Xie Ning nodded and thanked her with a smile. ”Sorry to trouble you, Ms. Yanzi.”

Moving supplies on the bustling street was too conspicuous, so it was a huge help that Ms. Yanzi was willing to make a trip back home with them.

”What’s the trouble? It’s just a small favor. Let’s go.” Ge Yan followed Xie Ning’s group toward the courtyard house.

”Ah Liang, Da Xiong, you two come with me too.” Xie Ning turned and instructed them. They quickly nodded and followed.

It was about a thirty-minute walk from the Survivor Center to the courtyard house.

Four-wheeled vehicles weren’t allowed on the pedestrian streets of the base’s inner ring. Xie Ning had originally wanted to rent a few electric scooters for transport...

But Ge Yan was frugal with her grain, saying that since there was nothing urgent, they would get there soon enough just by walking and chatting.

And so, the group arrived back at the courtyard house at around twelve-thirty.

Xie Ning had Ah Liang and Da Xiong wait a few minutes at the entrance while she took Ge Yan inside.

Ge Yan unloaded everything she had previously stored for Xie Ning in the small courtyard: twenty cases of mineral water, two camphorwood chests, shelves of various sizes, and several piles of supplies.

Xie Ning picked up two cases of mineral water and also pulled two cartons of cigarettes and a bottle of liquor from the piles of supplies to give her.

Ge Yan quickly waved her hands in refusal. ”We agreed on two cases of mineral water before. I can’t take the cigarettes and liquor. I just helped you carry a few things, little sister. It wasn’t any trouble at all. How could I take so many of your supplies for free?”

Xie Ning just shoved the whole lot into her arms. ”It’s not for you. It’s for Uncle Ge Liang. Just take it.”

”Ms. Yanzi, why don’t you stay for lunch?”

”No, no, that’s alright.” Ge Yan smiled as she secured the items, waving her hand again. ”My dad is waiting for me to eat with him. Besides, Li Dawei is providing lunch, so why wouldn’t I eat that! I’m heading back now, heading back. You all get back to what you were doing.”

The sisters saw Ge Yan out the door with a smile.

Xie Ning turned to Da Xiong and Ah Liang, who were standing at the gate, and said with a wide smile, ”Come on, I’ll take you to see the captain.”

The two were quite surprised. ”The captain lives here too?”

”Yup, right here.” Xie Ning led the two of them to the courtyard house next door and pounded on the door twice. BANG BANG.

The gate opened immediately, as if the person had been squatting right by the door and pulled it open the instant they heard the knock.

Zhou Tong grinned. ”Captain Xie, you’re back from your mission?”

Xie Ning nodded, looking around. ”Where’s the captain?”

”The captain went to a meeting. He’s not back yet.”

”Oh.”

Just then, Chen Xiao and Luo Kui, having heard the noise, walked over and greeted Xie Ning with a smile. ”Is there something you need, Captain Xie? The captain might be back late. If it’s urgent, you can tell me first.”

Xie Ning nodded, then turned and pulled Ah Liang and Da Xiong in front of her. ”Let me introduce you. This is Ah Liang, a Wood Element Superpower User, and Da Xiong, an Earth Ability User. Both of them are about to advance to the Second Order.”

”I noticed our team is short on Wood and Earth Element users. Ah Liang and Da Xiong’s character is absolutely solid.”

”How about we have the captain recruit them?”
