Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

”In addition to a fixed salary of thirty Contribution Points per month, Superpower Special Team members also receive benefits during holidays. When the team goes out on missions, they even get a bonus of double the Contribution Points an ordinary person would receive.”

”Contribution Points can be used to buy all sorts of supplies in the base’s store. For example, a pound of rice costs six Contribution Points.”

”Also, to enter the base, you need to pay an entrance fee of a certain number of Crystal Cores. The charge is two First-order Crystal Cores per person, but you can also pay with supplies.”

”Young lady, I see you have a lot of people in your team. To be honest, you can just leave the ones you’re not close with in the shantytown outside. No need to bring them all in. I’m just looking out for you. After all, with so many people, the cost in Crystal Cores is a huge expense, haha.”

Song You’ai and the others exchanged glances.

’What kind of idiot is this?’

’Suggesting our leader abandon her ordinary teammates just to cut costs, right in front of everyone?’

Wu Liangcai grinned. ”Water Ability Users are required to provide free services to the base. Each person must produce a quota of about fifteen liters of water per day.”

”You’ll receive an extra subsidy of twenty Contribution Points per month for this.”

”Young lady, I don’t think producing fifteen liters of water will be a problem for you. If you have any extra, we recommend you continue contributing to the base...”

Xie Ning suddenly reached out, snatched the registration book from Wu Liangcai’s hand, tore out the bottom half of the third page, and turned to give a direct order. ”Let’s go.”

Without a single word of complaint, Song Kexin and the others all turned in a flurry and followed Xie Ning.

Wu Liangcai and the rest of the patrol team were all dumbfounded.

He wasn’t even finished talking!

The young woman had actually ordered them to ”go.” Go where?

Were they not planning to enter Golden City Base anymore??

What kind of joke was this?

The cities were overrun with zombies, and the suburbs offered nothing but exposure to the elements and an extreme lack of supplies.

Where could a young woman like her go, leading a team full of old and young?

How could they survive without entering a base?

Wu Liangcai waved his hand, ordering several patrol members to rush forward and block Xie Ning and her group.

A corner of Xie Ning’s lip curled up, her icy gaze landing on the pot-bellied man. ”Do you want to know what death tastes like?”

Wu Liangcai shuddered for no apparent reason and subconsciously took a few steps back. ”Y-You, don’t act on impulse! I-I advise you to recognize the reality of your situation. Young woman, youthful passion has its time and place.”

”W-Where do you plan on going with all these old, weak women and children?”

”Where I’m going is none of your business.” Xie Ning raised an eyebrow, a cold glint in her eyes. ”Who do you think you are, telling me what to do?”

With every step the young woman took forward, Wu Liangcai, surrounded by his patrolmen, was forced to retreat.

The surrounding onlookers didn’t dare to step forward.

A circular clearing instantly formed at the entrance of the massive base.

The powerful searchlights stretched the young woman’s slender figure, making it look tall and straight.

”Y-Y-You, wh-what are you being so arrogant for?” Having been at the base for over half a month, this was the first time Wu Liangcai had met such a confrontational young woman. He really couldn’t handle the oppressive aura bearing down on him.

The pressure from a Superpower User wasn’t something any small fry could withstand.

”I-I was just giving you a well-intentioned tip! Young people shouldn’t be so ungrateful and reckless.”

Xie Ning chuckled at that, her eyes sweeping over the crowd.

She suddenly took the backpack off her shoulder, pulling out a bottle of water and a pack of instant noodles.

Holding them high, she announced in a cold voice, ”Any brave warrior willing to punch this fatso twice for me gets all of this!”

The eyes of everyone in the surrounding crowd instantly lit up.

Before anyone else could react, two tall, powerfully built men quickly pushed open their car door, sprinted out, and charged into the patrol team like hungry tigers pouncing on sheep.

One of them took down the entire patrol team in a few quick moves, as if he were handling little chicks.

The other grabbed the pot-bellied man, whose face had changed dramatically, and sent him kneeling on the ground with two punches, causing him to clutch his head and howl in pain.

Two Power-type Superpower Users. Everyone looked over, their faces filled with terror.

The bright lights illuminated the young woman’s delicate, pristine face.

It was cool and impassive, as cold as winter frost.

Xie Ning strode forward until she was in front of the whimpering, head-clutching, pot-bellied man. She planted a foot on his body. ”Did you see that clearly? *This* is what it means to be reckless.”

She held out the instant noodles and water. ”Before you try to tell others what to do,” Xie Ning said flatly, ”you should first understand your own place.”

”The one who really needs to recognize the current situation is an ignorant fool like you who doesn’t know his own limits!”

’In her past life, when she came to Golden City Base, the entrance fee was paid per team.’

’One Crystal Core for teams of fewer than five people, two for teams of five to twenty, and a flat fee of three for teams of twenty to fifty.’

’Furthermore, there was never any program that required Water Ability Users to provide free services.’

’So in this life, Golden City Base has mutated too, has it?’

’If that’s the case, why not just go to the Capital?’

’I’ll have to pay a fee either way, and the Capital is countless times safer than the current Golden City Base.’

’The only trouble is that the Capital is far away. We’ll have to make thorough preparations before leaving.’

The two Power-type Superpower Users hadn’t actually expected the young woman to give them the bottled water and instant noodles for just punching that fatso twice.

Just as they were thanking her repeatedly, the large searchlights on both sides of the base suddenly blazed to life.

A convoy of large trucks, fully loaded, returned and drove through the main gate via a special, cordoned-off transport lane.

Everyone’s attention was drawn to the abundant supplies on the trucks, their hearts burning with excitement.

’As expected, the decision to come to Golden City Base was the right one.’

Several people jumped down one after another from a small pickup truck that followed close behind.

A towering, muscular giant over two meters tall, with bulging biceps, was shouldering a heavy machine gun.

He followed closely behind a slender person dressed in all black, giving off the vibe of a beast accompanying a beauty.

”Captain Zuo.” Seeing the newcomer, the base guards couldn’t help but sigh in relief.

They had just been wondering if they should call the deputy base commander over to take a look, since the situation had escalated so much.

Zuo Li’s eyes lit up, and she hurried over to Xie Ning’s side. ”Xiao Ning! What a coincidence! I was afraid I wouldn’t make it in time to see you.”

Cres turned his head and muttered to the others, ”See that? That’s the person who almost stole our captain.”

”If I hadn’t stopped her back then, heheh, she would’ve joined someone else’s team.”

Grandma Song gave the blond boy an amused look and reached out to pat his head. ”Don’t worry, your big sister won’t abandon us and run off.”

”Captain, why are you all... just getting here now?” Xie Ning asked, glancing at Zuo Li and her group in confusion.

Xiao Qi Zi, Zhou Tong, and Chen Xiao all gathered around, smiling and greeting them.

”Don’t even ask. Ugh, long story short, we ran into a bunch of refugees on the road who latched onto us, so we had no choice but to bring them back.”

”Bringing so many people attracted several waves of zombie hordes.”

”But we did manage to snag two guns from the Wanggang Team.” Xiao Qi Zi grinned. ”It was a close call, but we’re okay.”
