THE SYSTEM IS NOT MINE

”Another black man came from the sky.. he grabbed the man, who came out of the burning building, and flew away,”

One of the men in the crowd described.

”Where did he fly away?” Mutai asked.

”That way,” the man pointed his finger directly behind Mutai.

”Mutai, let’s deal with it later, let’s go back home.” Chu Feng added.

”Yes, Sir.” Mutai obeyed.

As Chu Feng was about to walk away through the crowd, the city guards blocked his path.

”Chu Feng, you are under arrest for causing damage to the city and terrifying the citizens”, an officer came forward.

”You want to arrest me?”

”Are you sure that you can bear the consequences of doing it?”

Chu Feng cut off his voice.

”Isn’t it interesting? We had an enemy base in the city, but the guards were not even aware of it.”

”Chu Feng, they are your enemy; the city guards have nothing to do with monitoring your enemies”, the officer said.

”My enemy? Tell me, who was at war with Shin before I acted?”

”And today, I am not coming with you. Tell your superior to stop acting like a lapdog.”

”Chu Feng! Show some respect”

The guard shouted.

”Respect? I don’t respect someone who came to arrest me. Do it if you can.”

Chu Feng walked forward while the guards looked at each other before giving way.

Mutai followed behind while carrying Yan.

When Yan opened his eyes again, his body and forehead ached, and he lay on the bed.

”Take this, ” The Old man Cia Nu immediately put a bottle of brown liquid next to Yan. ”They told me to give it to you when you wake up, ” he stated.

Yan sat while taking support from the wooden frame on his back, grabbed the healing potion, and took a gulp. The pain began to lessen, and then he asked, ”Cia Nu, how have you been? ”

”Brat, who are you? Cia Nu suddenly grabbed Yan by the throat.

”Cia Nu, what are you doing? I am Yan,” Yan said.

”Stop your lies already. Are you Yan or Shui? Damn,” Cia Nu released Yan’s throat and beat his forehead.

”It was my mistake that I shouldn’t have agreed to come along that day, ” Cia Nu said. He slid down from the bed and sat on the floor while keeping his hands on his head.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

”Cia Nu, What’s bothering you?” Yan asked.

”It’s all because of you. I don’t want to stay here; I just want to go home,” Cia Nu expressed without looking at Yan.

”Is that it? I can arrange this easily,” Yan said.

”Really?” For the first time, Cia Nu looked at Yan, his eyes no longer saw Yan as a devil but as a messiah.

That day, after Yan recovered enough to move around, he went out of the room and met Mutai in the courtyard. He looked like he had just finished distributing grain.

”Are you feeling well?” Mutai asked as soon as he saw Yan.

Yan nodded.

”You were hiding a lot, and you are not a normal guy, are you?” Mutai focused on Yan.

”Still weak,” Yan replied.

” Calling yourself weak? Nah, if you are weak, then other foundation cultivators are garbage,” Mutai said.

”Maybe they are,” Yan replied.

”Ahem!..they are not, that’s complicated, Let me explain.” Mutai corrected.

”The foundation cultivators don’t usually focus on understanding their foundation letter until they reach the peak of the foundation realm to avoid slowing down in their cultivation”

”Hence, most are just brute cultivators at the foundation level”

”But you are different, aren’t you?”

Yan did not answer, he stayed silent.

Mutai’s brow furrowed.

“How do you know Sir Chu Feng?” Yan asked, deliberately changing the subject.

”Know? Nah, he is like my father.”

”I still remember the day.”

Years ago...

”Food, food”

A seven-year-old child was crawling over the slums of the capital city of Noir.

Suddenly, an older kid around thirteen grabbed him by the hair and pulled him from behind.

”Mutai, come play with us.”

”We will give you food if you play with us.”

Another kid stood not far away from them and said.

”Chu Feng is here, Chu Feng is here” Right then, a girl around ten came running towards them.

Immediately, the older kid let the grip on Mutai’s hair go away and rushed away along with the others.

When everyone left, Mutai still lay there on the floor alone.

Then the sky went dark, clouds covered the sun. Mutai looked up, water droplets fell on his face.

The rain grew heavier, and the dirt of the slums turned into small streams flowing around him.

”Kid, are you alright? ” Then Mutai heard a voice. He looked up to find a man, wearing clean clothes, who did not look like someone from the slums, closing towards him through the dirty water of the slums.

”So, that’s how I met Sir Chu Feng”, Mutai explained.

”What happened after that?” Yan asked.

”I will tell you some other day. By the way, have you considered working for us?” Mutai asked.

”Yes,” Yan replied.

”You have made a good decision” Mutai said.

”Also, the old man in my room wants to go home” Yan mentioned while staying still.

”Well, he can, it’s not like we kept him here by force,” Mutai replied.

”Can you escort him out ? he is scared”, Yan requested.

”Sure,” Mutai turned and walked away, with Yan following behind. They climbed upstairs and knocked on the door.

Cia Nu immediately opened the door, but his mouth fell open when he saw Mutai.

The rumours about the burning building and Mutai’s feats were still circulating throughout the mansion. Just the other day, a cleaning lady had praised Mutai, saying he was her dream husband because he was strong enough to blast enemies through buildings.

”Old man, I heard you are afraid,” Mutai asked as he took a step forward.

Cia Nu took a few steps back instinctively as sweat ran down his forehead.

”Old man, why are you so terrified? Did you do anything you shouldn’t have?” Mutai took a few more steps towards Cia Nu.

”No, no...I did not do anything,” Cia Nu shouted out as he stumbled back and fell on the ground.

”Old man, calm down! I am just here to send you home,” Mutai came forward, reached his hands out to him with a gesture of helping him stand up.

Cia Nu took a deep breath, and asked, ”Can I really go home? ” Cia Nu came closer.

”Yes”, Mutai affirmed.

”Let’s go”, Cia Nu immediately grabbed Mutai’s hand and stood.

”Let’s go,”

”Let’s go, ” he laughed.

Then the trio walked to the gates of the mansion. Outside, Yan and Mutai stood closer to the gate, and Cia Nu stood a bit away, and prepared to go away at any moment.

”Cia Nu, let’s meet again sometime,” Yan said.

”Damn devil! I’d rather not,” Cia Nu muttered under his breath. Then he forced a smile. ”I will be glad to.”

Then he bid farewell, his steps were faster as he moved farther and farther away.

”Poor old man, I wonder what scared him so much to lose his mind,” Mutai commented while looking at the back of the old man.

That night, a man arrived outside the Mansion.

He wore simple clothes and came alone. There seemed to be nothing extraordinary about him. Yet Chu Feng himself came out to welcome him at the gate.
