Cleaver Of Sin

Chapter 586: Love

The Emovira did not attack anymore; it simply stood in silence, staring at Debro with a cold expression and lifeless eyes. Debro did not move either, since the Emovira had ceased its assault. He never actively attacked; to him, this was merely playtime, something he could end whenever he wished, specifically the moment Asher was done.

One might ask what gave Debro the confidence that Asher was going to win, despite not truly knowing him.

Debro, despite having spent such a short time with Asher, felt as though he understood the boy well enough. A boy who had completely fooled him with an illusion he had not even detected, and who had managed to infiltrate their base of operations and free the captives, was certainly not someone weak.

’Is this what they call love?’ Debro thought, as his heart rate quickened slightly at the mere thought of Asher.

As he was lost in thought, the Emovira suddenly moved. Surprisingly, it did not rush toward him; instead, it dashed in another direction, erasing distance with ease as its body turned into a blur of motion.

”Finally deciding to escape?” Debro asked, not even bothering to take a step, as he could not be bothered by the idea of the Emovira fleeing. However, the next moment, his expression shifted into a faint frown as a thought crossed his mind. With a single intent, he vanished from where he stood, his speed eclipsing any velocity the Emovira had achieved. In an instant, he appeared beside it, his fist blurring outward toward the Emovira’s head.

But the Emovira had already anticipated this. With a flick of its tail, its agility surged explosively as it dodged with insane speed, reflex, and control. Debro’s punch met nothing but an afterimage as the Emovira reappeared atop a tree trunk.

Debro was not bothered that the Emovira had dodged. The speed at which he had thrown that punch was slower than his usual pace.

The Emovira flashed Debro a smirk, an almost twisted, evil grin, as it spoke, ”Gotcha,” its voice laced with a strange excitement, as though it had finally found a way to force Debro to focus on it.

Debro did not reply. He simply remained silent, his thoughts still lingering on Asher.

The Emovira’s plan had been simple. It did not understand why Debro kept getting distracted, constantly glancing into the far distance. There was clearly a battle happening there, but to the Emovira, Debro did not appear to be someone who cared about others. He certainly did not seem like the type to care about his ”comrades.”

Yet, regardless of that assumption, there was something there... or rather, someone. Something, or someone, that kept drawing his attention away. And since Debro cared so much about it, the Emovira had decided to head in that direction, not only to discover what it was, but to erase whatever it was that Debro held dear.

Debro’s immediate reaction and sudden attack had already confirmed the Emovira’s suspicion. For the first time in a long while, a sliver of satisfaction slipped through the overwhelming rage burning within it.

With that, the Emovira vanished once again, rushing toward Asher’s direction. But every time it attempted to move forward, Debro appeared instantly, blocking its path while simultaneously unleashing a casual punch. Though these were ”normal” punches by Debro’s standards, to the Emovira, even one of them landing would result in critical injury. Although it was a higher-ranked being, possessing greater vitality and regeneration, it did not mean it could recklessly endure such attacks.

It would not die before its opponent.

Suddenly, a faint smile appeared on Debro’s lips. The Emovira frowned, unable to comprehend why this sick human was smiling at such a moment.

With that same smile, Debro finally spoke, ”It seems you will finally get your wish.” As he spoke, his black eyes tore away from Asher’s direction, his full attention now settling completely on the Emovira before him.

The Emovira’s frown deepened. Its gaze shifted briefly toward the direction Debro had been looking, noticing that the battle there had seemingly concluded. Still, it could not understand. But then again, it did not matter. What mattered was that this sick human was finally giving it his undivided attention.

”You know, previously, I planned to simply capture you if you didn’t run away,” Debro continued calmly.

The Emovira smirked, its voice laced with mockery as it asked, ”And what has changed, human?”

”Instead of capturing you, I will be killing you for daring to target my Ethan,” Debro replied without hesitation, his tone devoid of concealment. ”And I will make it painful... but quick, as I wish to meet him immediately,” he added with finality.

If Asher had been present, he would have been utterly confused, wondering where this sudden obsession, and apparent love, Debro had developed had even come from.

The Emovira, however, was confused for an entirely different reason. The name Ethan meant nothing to it; it did not know any human by that name. But before it could even process the thought further, a devastating force slammed into its chest, as though a truck had collided with it at full speed. Inertia took over instantly, dragging its body backward as it folded unnaturally, like fragile paper under immense pressure.

Before the Emovira could even crash into the trees behind it, Debro was already there, faster than inertia itself. With a calm expression, he thrust his palm forward, driving it into the Emovira’s back.

The force rippled through the Emovira’s muscle mass like a violent wave across the surface of water. With a stronger force now acting from behind, the force from the front was completely overpowered and nullified. As a result, the Emovira was launched forward once again, its body becoming a blur as it tore through the air, shattering wind barriers with deafening, concussive booms.

Debro’s figure flickered once more, appearing above the Emovira even as it was still streaking forward. His precision and timing were flawless. Without hesitation, his heel descended like a sledgehammer, crashing down into the Emovira’s chest.

With a cataclysmic impact, the Emovira was slammed violently into the earth below. A massive sinkhole tore open, the ground collapsing inward as darkness swallowed the Emovira, as though the force itself was dragging it toward Crymora’s hidden core.

In a blur, Debro appeared before the Emovira the moment it finally came to a halt. Darkness engulfed both of them. The Emovira lay there, barely alive, its body broken after enduring only three attacks from the very human it despised to its core. Yet even on the brink of death, its anger did not fade.

Without wasting a moment, Debro lowered himself. His hand shot forward, plunging into the Emovira’s mouth. With sickening ease, he ripped out its black tongue.

”You talk far too much,” he said indifferently, glancing briefly at the severed tongue before tossing it aside.

The Emovira did not scream. It had endured far worse on the experimental table. Without hesitation, Debro continued. He plucked out its eyes, shattered its teeth, and tore off its ears with casual ease, his movements devoid of emotion. The brutality came naturally to him.

Even without eyes, the Emovira’s expression remained filled with hatred, its presence radiating cold, unyielding anger.

Debro looked down at it with an indifferent gaze. Slowly, almost deliberately, his foot rose, hovering above the Emovira’s head.

”In your next life... do not target what I love,” he said coldly, the moment he finished speaking, his leg came down.

Like a boulder crushing an egg, the Emovira’s head burst apart instantly. Black blood, fragments of bone, and shattered matter splattered outward in a grotesque display, as though Debro had painted a macabre masterpiece, one crafted purely from death itself.
