Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2625: Chapter 2120: Mutual Confidence

”Not sure.”

It must be said that Chief Yuan’s instincts are still sharp, and his self-reflection is also proactive.

No need for much prompting, he realized some hidden oddities.

”You’re right, it was indeed after you mentioned that he took the initiative to report to you, which made me feel a bit strange, so I suggested he come over here.”

Despite facing this level of perception, Fu Qian seemed not too enthusiastic, lazily shaking his head.

”However, the potential reasons are still too many, with the complex personnel in Shangjing, and last time at the party with so many eyes on, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly who has what intentions.”

Oh?

Even so, at that moment, Yuan Shan expressed being enlightened, eyes lighting up.

”Are you saying that the source of the matter could still be your stance at the last party? Someone may have developed an interest in the Chen Family due to your interest in their method of familial cultivation?”

Instantly understanding Fu Qian’s meaning, without waiting for him to confirm, Yuan Shan continued to speak endlessly.

”Indeed it makes some sense, after all, this kind of recognition carries weight.

”And Chen Pingxian’s unusually proactive attitude may feel a certain threat, hence the rush to advance this matter.

”It could even explain why he brought out that thing just now, due to it not being very safe in the first place...”

After quickly sorting out a possible situation, explaining away some doubts, Yuan Shan next frowned slightly, realizing the implication behind Fu Qian’s earlier actions.

”But you refused him, partly because you weren’t interested, and partly it seems you’re not planning to help them solve this problem?”

Based on the understanding of this guy, directly throwing the thing back without even looking seems hardly just a matter of principle.

”Yes, that’s their own affair.”

Fu Qian nodded, acknowledging Yuan Shan’s speculation, not feeling anything inappropriate.

”There’s a saying about wanting to wear a crown and having to bear its weight? I can’t send them a gift and still be their security, can I?”

...

”That does indeed...”

Though it sounds somewhat cold, Yuan Shan eventually caught on, agreeing to Fu Qian’s statement after a moment of silence.

For the Chen Family, attracting such a character’s interest in essence resembles winning a lottery.

Even making high-level comments in front of a crowd at the party could almost be quantified into actual benefits.

If they can’t hold onto such a level of fortune, they have no grounds to reprimand others.

Of course, that’s just a side note, the core here is there’s not much of a relationship between them.

If a similar thing happened with Wen Li, this fellow would probably not mind spending a bit more effort.

Thinking of that young person who quickly ascended to a high-tier transcendent at the Academy, Yuan Shan couldn’t help but sigh.

”Some things you could completely ignore... but you still want to join the fun.”

Also regarding the behavior just now of the person in front of her, she clearly perceived the arrogance and wickedness within.

”Mainly ignoring it so actively seems impolite, also it doesn’t seem like deliberately causing trouble? After all, now that this topic is clearly over, without further dealings, Chen Pingxian can tell whatever story he wants when he returns.”

Fu Qian, while filling the chief’s tea, did not hide his posture of watching the show.

Previously commented on the turbulent undercurrents in Shangjing, with the unresolved Southern Jiang En and Northern Tyler rivalry, plus the appearance of the martial arts secret skill Opportunity-Attracting Spell, how can one not be intrigued.

”In fact, I’m more curious about why you’re still here, weren’t you rushing to Old Master Henry earlier?”

With a topic change in the next moment, Fu Qian was still curious about Yuan Shan’s unusual behavior.

”That’s because it’s not urgent now.”

Sighing, as expected, Yuan Shan indicated there was another reason.

”I just managed to get in touch with the teacher, and he told me there’s something important he’s working on, and will come over here after it’s finished.”

...

Old Master Henry has important matters at hand?

It’s reassuring that there are no issues, but given his near-retirement status, such a statement inevitably sparks curiosity, no wonder Yuan Shan looks slightly worried.

”Since he said so, clearly he doesn’t want you involved, why not believe in the old master’s capabilities.

”Besides, you can directly tell him that the root of the matter is my interaction with that gentleman.”

For a moment, Fu Qian casually comforted, suggesting Yuan Shan need not keep it secret.

”...Actually, I already told him.”

A brief silence was her response, and Yuan Shan rarely showed a hint of embarrassment.

”It’s natural; I just want to tell you there’s no need to feel embarrassed. What did the old master say?”

Entirely unsurprised, Fu Qian remained easygoing, curious about Old Master Henry’s opinion.

”The teacher said he understood... then that there’s no need to worry too much, believing you can handle the situation.”

Yuan Shan continued to sigh, sounding somewhat helpless as she concluded.

”Indeed, great minds do think alike.”

Fu Qian found it amusing.

Although the last interaction wasn’t particularly pleasant, it seems the old master has a decent impression of him.

So much so that the situation ended up with him asking Yuan Shan to trust Henry, and Henry asking Yuan Shan to trust him, no wonder she had such a reaction being caught in the middle.

”As for the Melia Flower Ball, the teacher said he doesn’t know much about the Academy, if you’re interested, he can share some information when he comes over.”

But the advantage of Yuan Shan is her resilience; she quickly put aside the awkwardness, bringing up another matter.

Evidently, even though the conversation time wasn’t long, she discussed quite a bit with the old master.

”Thanks, I’ll look forward to it.”

This issue was purely asked for himself, and Fu Qian was momentarily appreciative.

”So you’ll be around here lately?”

Yuan Shan couldn’t help but be a bit surprised by the implied tone in his inquiry, gesturing around them.

”Not exactly, for example, I’m about to head out for a stroll.”

However, Fu Qian stood up, indicating he had enough tea and it’s time to go for a walk.

...

Evidently quite shocked by Fu Qian’s leisurely demeanor, yet with two high-tier transcendent figures settled in Shangjing, Yuan Shan’s demeanor also turned lazy.

Without even asking what Fu Qian was up to, she instantly decided to leave with him, then went their separate ways.

Walking through the turbulent Shangjing, Fu Qian watched the darkening sky, recalling a road once traveled.

It turned out his memory was reliable, without spending too much time, the surrounding became gradually desolate, with a familiar courtyard appearing in sight.

Once, a young bloodline clan elite scaled the walls from here.

That’s right, Tyler Gulad, also the mansion of a certain acquaintance.

Previously mentioned disinterest in the Chen Family’s transcendent legacy is due to already having little research value.

After all, not far away, this place holds a perfect example—Bloodline Clan.
