Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2622: Chapter 2617: New Seat, Old Door

”Don’t go causing trouble, okay?”

For once, the advice seemed to make Chief Yuan feel a little uncertain.

She hesitated for a moment, scrutinizing the overly cooperative Fu Qian. In the end, she couldn’t resist offering a brief reminder.

Just thinking there’s an expert in charge, she forgot that this troublemaker is a top-tier chaos magnet, causing havoc everywhere he goes.

This time, even Wen Li isn’t around, practically lawless, without any restraint.

For a moment, Yuan Shan hesitated whether to leave.

”When did I ever cause trouble? Is my professionalism really so unreliable?”

Regarding her reminder, Fu Qian couldn’t help but feel wrongly accused, responding incredulously.

”That’s right, you’ve never been chaotic in your affairs...”

Even if she were drunk, she couldn’t believe the seemingly innocent face of the guy in front of her. Reflecting on the past, Yuan Shan almost gritted her teeth, clearly understanding the meaning behind Fu Qian’s words.

No matter how disorderly things seem, he indeed always acts with a specific purpose.

While he doesn’t follow conventions, he rarely bothers doing meaningless things.

The ”familiar faces” mentioned just now should have a deep understanding of this.

”So, who are you planning to catch up with next? Chen Pingxian perhaps? Houhai Manor would definitely be welcoming.”

Even recognizing certain principles, Yuan Shan still felt uneasy, casually confirming Fu Qian’s concrete plans.

”Anyone’s fine; do you have any suggestions?”

Regrettably, still incredibly easygoing, Fu Qian smiled and asked.

”Not really, just thinking it’s a matter of responsibility that I should accompany you, even though I don’t particularly like that place...”

Yuan Shan frowned, indeed showing a sense of responsibility, obviously worried Fu Qian might deal too harshly with the Chen family members.

”Easy, you can just call him over.”

No longer a word to describe easygoing, in response to her worry, Fu Qian genuinely suggested another option.

”...Are you serious? Aren’t you worried they might disrupt the peace?”

Sure enough, Yuan Shan began looking at him like an alien.

”How could that be? We’re open for business.”

Fu Qian gestured towards the door with a merchant’s amicability.

”Since you say so.”

Slightly moved by his dedication, Yuan Shan didn’t confirm further and really stood up.

”When did you switch chairs?”

This shift in perspective seemed to make her notice a previously ignored detail, staring at the seat beneath Fu Qian before leaving.

Contrary to this rather petite shop, that chair was not only intricately designed but also dominantly sized.

The pale gold hue radiating luxury elevated the proprietor’s aura.

And Yuan Shan was quite certain it wasn’t like this before.

”Just now... What do you think? Does it match my temperament?”

As if finally waiting for someone to admire it, Fu Qian leaned back and patted the armrest.

Besides helping heal, the Red Moon visiting the ”child” had surprisingly left some other things.

...

”At first glance, it’s a bit awkward, but on closer look, it really suits you.”

Few displayed such nouveau riche vibes before Chief Yuan.

However, after some assessment, Yuan Shan eventually nodded in agreement.

Perhaps for a shop with a monthly sales volume in single digits, this setup seemed extravagant, yet it perfectly matched the proprietor.

”So what’s that part, a snake’s tail or some creature’s claw?”

Even so, she still raised a doubt.

”This one? It should be a claw.”

Fu Qian followed Yuan Shan’s gaze, touching at a raised part of the armrest.

It’s no wonder Chief Yuan thought so; roughly palm-length, it indeed exhibited biological features, with faint outlines of joints.

Alongside the scaly texture, it sparked instant associations.

And there’s a reason to lean towards a claw—Fu Qian mentioned he’s seen similar designs before, mirroring lines he once felt in the Red Moon’s spread limbs.

Not to mention, this chair only appeared after the Red Moon embraced him.

Exactly, even the design is identical to one in the Academy’s lab.

After confirming the ”child” is doing well, the Red Moon gifted another piece of furniture.

”Looks like it too, feels like it might prick a hand.”

Though it retained some sinister energy, Chief Yuan’s busy schedule made her shake her head at Fu Qian’s comment, ultimately saying nothing more and turning to leave.

And frankly, her warning isn’t unwarranted; with that extra piece sticking up, the chair’s bold design seemingly sacrificed some safety for visual effect.

The touchpoint of Fu Qian’s fingertip felt sharply pointed, with a feeling it could pierce through if pressed harder.

...

So how should this be used?

Watching Yuan Shan walk away, Fu Qian didn’t retract his gaze, nor his finger.

Indeed, besides the design, the Red Moon’s purpose in giving the chair was straightforward—to materialize its door-opening ability, making movement more convenient.

Yet due to the loss of Extraordinary Perception, he couldn’t activate its ring to reach the Half-step Moon, rendering it temporarily unusable.

Initially, upon seeing it, he thought the Red Moon opened a teleportation hub for a frequently visited spot, available for future use once back to normal.

Now it seems that’s not quite the case, as the Red Moon’s gift appears far more substantial.

The evidence was Fu Qian’s field of view, now included not only the familiar bookstore scene but also an extra ethereal door.

Interestingly, this door didn’t appear with the chair; it manifested when Yuan Shan showed curiosity and he placed his finger on the claw tip.

Previously asking the Red Moon for direction really resulted in a materialized door, leading straight to the destination upon opening.

So is this accounting for his inability to return ”home” for help, promptly transporting that function to his location?

Even seemingly considering his now spirituality-void mind by creating some straightforward operations.

No need for Extraordinary Perception; only symbolic actions are required to attempt activation.

However, two issues arose: first, having seen the door, how could it be opened?

And second, what happens if a different finger is used?

With such curiosity, Fu Qian indeed replaced his index finger with his middle finger.

An uplifting scene emerged instantly, as the rather somber door vanished, replaced by a profoundly crimson view.

At first glance, the striking image was that of a thorn-like blood channel, with liquid visibly flowing within.

Looks familiar?
