Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2612: Chapter 2607: Drinking Tea

Only those who have weathered the stormy seas of business know how difficult it is to open the store doors as usual every day.

With the enthusiastic invitation of the bookstore owner, the hesitant customers outside seemed to feel this weightiness and finally stopped hesitating and stepped in.

”The weather is quite nice today.”

Fu Qian was also quite dedicated, chatting about the weather as they led the way, striving to make the guests feel at home.

”Yes, it is.”

The fact is, the reason the weather topic is a classic is obvious, as ”Yuan Shan” truly glanced outside at that moment, responding.

”So how did you know I was back?”

Of course, Fu Qian wasn’t really planning to bluff his way through with just chatting about the weather; he immediately cut to the chase.

Hmm...

Honestly, this would even be considered a sensitive question, as it almost inevitably involves making the other party introspect, attempting to outline the cause and effect of this meeting.

Considering the previous confusion regarding identity, this undoubtedly stimulates the minefield of ”self” awareness, ready to break a delicate balance at any time.

But Fu Qian still did it, and the reason was simple—not only was Chief Yuan in danger, but the Red Moon was also a victim.

In this accident, his role was clearly the vortex that drew all sides in.

Simply appearing in Shangjing felt like tearing a hole in the operation of the world.

And to fill this in, to continue to enjoy peaceful times, much more needed to be done than just calming emotions.

Not only did he need to ensure Chief Yuan wasn’t messed around with, but he also had to make the Red Moon terminate its arrival quickly.

To achieve that latter point, undoubtedly, he had to inspire a certain degree of subjective initiative.

How could one hope to achieve that if they avoided the minefield completely?

Simply put, this time it required not only dancing on the minefield but also coming away unscathed.

In such circumstances, the entry point became crucial.

The benefit of the previous question was, it was reasonable whether asked to Red Moon or Yuan Shan.

The ”person involved” had to introspect without necessarily confirming who they were.

Skirting the edge wasn’t so simple.

...

”I...”

As expected, Yuan Shan hesitated for a moment, struggling to answer.

”I saw you came here.”

Yet, what did a mere Demigod’s unclear mind have to do with me, Red Moon?

After a slight hesitation, she spoke again.

And evidently, there was a high Red Moon component in this answer.

”You have sharp eyes, I almost just arrived.”

Though not exactly a good thing, it must be said this scene was quite intriguing; Fu Qian felt this while making the compliment without hesitation.

And just like before, this sentence could praise anyone.

”You’ve been away for some time now.”

Unfortunately, ambiguous words eventually backfired; Yuan Shan’s response this time was not only quick but could stand on the position of either identity without being out of place.

There was not even any emotion, just very seriously, flatly stating the facts.

...

Has it been a while? Actually, it’s not that bad.

Having navigated the worldly society for years, how could Fu Qian not know the principle that haste makes waste?

He didn’t continue to pressure; at that moment he was instead moved by the other’s words, turning to survey the surroundings.

In the winter afternoon, the warm sun and gentle breeze complemented fairly orderly bookshelves.

It could only be said that without staff operating, this corner of Shangjing looked quite harmonious and culturally rich.

Except for Yuan Shan’s previous message, no new envelope appeared on the floor.

Not surprising, as there were only three people with this mailing address, two of whom were studying diligently.

But if I had to insist on saying when I was here last, it really wasn’t that long ago.

From my perspective, it was barely passable given the task’s time span and the many events experienced.

”Yeah, so let me think where the cups are... want something to drink?”

Yet without correcting the small logical issue, indicating to the other party to sit down, Fu Qian even rarely took action himself.

”Just tea is fine.”

The other party was also straightforward, with clear demands.

”A wise choice.”

Fu Qian praised, truly taking out a delicate jar.

Because aside from this, there was nothing else here.

Of course, the quality must be good, as Wen Li specifically brought it over while interning at the store.

”Not bad.”

This quickly received dual recognition, almost as soon as Fu Qian started to make it, Yuan Shan gave high praise.

”That’s good.”

Fu Qian maintained an easy demeanor, slowly heating water, not forgetting to idly chat, pointing to the door location.

”I previously received a blank letter here.”

...

Mild influence without a sound.

Of course, not just for the tea. Sitting together to partake in the same activity has always been a great opportunity to breakthrough conversational boundaries.

For instance, the previous message undoubtedly held significant relation to Yuan Shan, and Fu Qian had not wasted a moment of it.

As for Yuan Shan’s response, it was rather pleasing.

”The blank letter... I wrote it.”

Nodding gently, she surprisingly admitted it without hesitation.

Theoretically, this meant that amidst the wavering, the true her seemed to have finally grasped a point of anchorage, clarifying herself with remarkable efficiency—

”There was nothing on it... yet there was.”

Almost stepping over the edge of clarity, before Fu Qian could say anything, Yuan Shan already added another sentence.

What she said was certainly not incorrect, as Fu Qian had interpreted Chief Yuan’s intent in leaving the book; it was an invitation for him to choose an opportunity to talk when not urgent.

Therefore, the statement was undoubtedly accurate, but the awkwardness lay in how this kind of thing didn’t seem necessary to articulate?

Hearing it in that moment, it almost felt like she was narrating the subplot out loud.

An originally fine humanoid figure immediately became odd in flavor.

”Indeed, I think I understand what’s inside.”

Luckily, Fu Qian was never biased against such matters, raising a hand to pour the tea, genuinely agreeing with her statement.

”Wen Li’s tea.”

Yuan Shan’s gaze was, as expected, drawn, watching Fu Qian’s actions the whole time, finally nodding.

Oh? Remembering even this, is it a sign of further improvement?

Of course, Red Moon might also remember Wen Li, but such taste recognition was clearly easier for someone who had personally sampled it.

So currently, the situation could generally still be seen as advancing amid twists—crack!

The wonderful vision was instantly interrupted by an unusual sound, and upon looking over, Yuan Shan had already raised the teacup, completely unbothered by the heat, bringing it to her lips and taking a bite.

Yes, while commenting on the flavor, she directly bit off a piece from the edge of the teacup.

The tea set had been updated by Wen Li as well, boasting equally excellent quality.

But no matter how precious the treasure, to a Demigod, it was still soft as cake.

Yuan Shan’s eating manner could even be called elegant, gently chewing with her mouth closed.
