Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2277: Chapter 2272: The Scroll of Burial

Reaching out again?

The relic of the First Generation Dark Moon, in a certain sense, is the witch’s greatest gain from this journey.

But what exactly is the scroll in her hand, they had never discussed it before.

And now, right before parting, she just asked him to put his hand on it?

This sudden request made Fu Qian recall the scene last time during their return journey when she was recharging the Deep Sleep of Time and Moon.

”What exactly is this thing?”

Curious, Fu Qian did as instructed.

”Aren’t you worried it’s a trap?”

Seeing his straightforward action, the witch asked with a smile.

Honestly, it was quite reasonable to ask this, especially since they had just discussed the traps of the Superior Beings.

Although Temple Knight stands as the first under the Pontiff, often achieving great feats, one must not forget that the ”mother” is still a Superior Being.

”Not worried.”

Fu Qian shook his head.

”...Although it has something left inside for me, it’s actually not a record scroll. On the contrary, it seems it should be called a Forgotten Scroll.”

Without saying more, the witch turned her attention to the opened scroll.

Unfortunately, even with his hand on it at this moment, Fu Qian still couldn’t comprehend anything.

”I just confirmed repeatedly that its effect is simple and pure; on one hand, it can indeed record something, but once recorded, it’s equivalent to being buried.

”This should also be why the reappeared Stars’ Laws have that binding force on me.”

Fortunately, the owner of the scroll promptly explained it, even proactively addressing a point that had always been perplexing.

”Indeed, theoretically, for a complete Superior Being, such a type of targeting should not exist.”

Fu Qian maintained his position, nodding slightly.

This has indeed been a point of contemplation for him since the rescue after the last hurricane.

Even if the Stars’ Laws were compiled by the witch’s ”mother,” leaving strict restrictions on the Dark Moon inside,

but do not forget the times have changed, and the symbol of Dark Moon has now truly changed hands.

In a certain sense, this is akin to ”the sword of a previous era cutting down the officials of the current era.”

Theoretically, even if some binding force remains, it shouldn’t be to the point of complete inability to resist.

”That’s because the concept of Dark Moon is not entirely complete.”

To this, the witch sighed lightly, and the scroll in her hand began to shimmer faintly while she spoke.

Since the Temple Knight trusted her so much, she operated without explaining the specific effect.

...

The scene was full of changes and mysteries.

At that moment, Fu Qian seemed to grasp the essence of what is called an ”intention.”

Something was changing.

Even though he might not understand the specific content, the swirling of patterns on the scroll gave off an extraordinary feeling without needing interpretation.

It was mainly unintelligible and not subject to knowledge contamination.

”A highly abstract concept has been encapsulated within, thereby disappearing from the world. It is so special and tiny that it wouldn’t affect the usual stability.

”However, ultimately, because it is no longer complete, the lock left by the complete Dark Moon now has a suppressive force.”

Fortunately, the witch’s explanation was timely.

”Understood. An intriguing item, an intriguing setup.”

Although the explanation was somewhat abstract, being a giant in the academic field, Fu Qian had no trouble understanding it.

One has to admit that the First Generation Dark Moon was indeed very thoughtful.

For instance, transferring authority is like an administrator resigning, passing the highest level of authority to a newcomer, which the First Generation Dark Moon indeed did.

But unbeknownst to all, before that happened, the definition of the administrator was subtly adjusted, resulting in them being the highest manager in daily operations while essentially no longer truly supreme.

Ultimately, the restrictions laid by what was once supreme authority had become unremovable flaws.

It’s intricately designed.

Of course, design alone is not sufficient; it requires enough hardware support.

The witch had already explained how she achieved this, relying on the Forgotten Scroll in her hand.

To directly extract a concept from the world? This is not something any random Transcendent item can accomplish.

Just casually thinking about it resembles the power of actual Divine Beings.

It’s only fair to say that the First Generation Dark Moon’s collection seems very abundant.

Additionally, this strategy seems only applicable against one’s kind, meaning it only affects the ”offspring.”

After all, for contestants not on the same Divine Road as you, you can’t possibly gain administrative privileges from their side.

”Do you think this setup was to guard against you?”

Not avoiding the issue, Fu Qian proactively raised a sensitive question next.

...

”It seems rational, and even the reappearance of the laws seems particularly odd.

”But there are contradictions too. Last time you came over, I was already nearing my limits, yet nothing extra happened.”

Her hands didn’t stop; handling it for the first time, the witch was notably cautious.

However, when it came to Fu Qian’s question, she was very precise in her thoughts, almost as if she had considered it earlier.

”Logically, if my birth was due to some malicious intent, upon being limited, further actions should have occurred. However, the brief reappearance of Rielertin seems insignificant.”

The ”mother” who had been watching ever since her birth had actually plotted against her all along.

Confronted with such a possibility, the witch neither glorified it nor fell into blind conspiracy theories.

”Agreed, all we can say for sure is that your ’mother’ indeed planned something about this, but her exact intentions are unclear. It might require gathering more deeds of hers for a judgment.”

The witch maintained clarity in her thinking, leading Fu Qian to give her a fair evaluation while planning subsequent actions.

”So, what did you bury this time?”

At that moment, seeing the witch had stopped moving, and the light on the scroll had returned to subtlety,

including her facial expression that clearly signaled completion, Fu Qian curiously asked.

”Remember the core objective of our operation this time?”

The witch slightly smiled, evidently in a good mood, playfully keeping him guessing.

”To solve my perception issue?”

Always emphasizing clear thinking, Fu Qian wouldn’t forget this point.

Even then, the witch’s tone and expression seemed to imply a breakthrough at this final moment?

”Indeed, the problem was admittedly perplexing, but I just realized there might be a way to slightly improve it.”

”What lies buried inside is the ’Other Shore.’ Considering it originally belongs to that world, it seems reasonable for you to take it back.”

With a gesture towards the scroll, the witch smiled brightly.

”None of your things are buried within, but I did use a small technique to link it to you—try dripping blood on it.”

In the next moment, this hard-earned relic was directly handed over.
