Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2250: Chapter 2245: No Trace

Not enjoying that at all.

It actually came from behind the door of Lord Destiny Snake, and not Alarakir.

The place where Brother Interlocutor appeared was rather unusual.

But considering his encounters, it wasn’t that strange.

Being a house slave of both sexes, among others, was already considered a relatively mild outcome.

Fu Qian shook his head internally, how could he concern himself with people’s origins, especially when Brother Interlocutor’s face was so sincerely joyful, even the most critical eye would struggle to find any falseness.

There was a sense of excitement as if hearing an old friend had come to visit, leaping off the bed in haste, not even having time to wear shoes.

”Long time no see, you look quite well.”

Of course, Brother Interlocutor never wore shoes in the first place; Fu Qian withdrew his gaze from his spike-covered hind feet and exchanged pleasantries with a smile.

Even though the Interlocutor from head to toe had hardly changed a hair since their last meeting, this was not an empty compliment.

Good or bad is seen in comparison, and in this bleak situation, is staying the same not considered good?

”You’re even better.”

And today, Brother Interlocutor was extremely eloquent, staring at Fu Qian and immediately complimenting him back.

”That goes without saying.”

Fu Qian was not one for modesty, and accepted the compliment with an unblinking smile, even striking a pose to showcase his limited edition uniform and new-age weapon.

Indeed, compared to their last meeting, he had made small progress.

But since it was a bit out of the ordinary, the probability that the Interlocutor quickly discerned this seemed not so high.

In Fu Qian’s view, it was likely due to the aesthetics, being intimidated by his upgraded outfit.

Can’t blame him; the limited edition design consecrated by the Pontiff was unparalleled in honor and effect.

”So, do you want to come in?”

But as the saying goes, a friend’s success troubles the mind. When faced with such visually impactful styling, even the Interlocutor’s smile somewhat faltered for a moment before asking.

From the start until now, he hadn’t yet stepped out from behind the door.

”Sure.”

Realizing the impoliteness, the next moment Fu Qian also withdrew his pose, stored away Mercy, and glanced behind the Interlocutor.

...

A door wide open.

Indeed, the flood of the era was overwhelming, and what lay behind the door didn’t seem to withstand it.

It was no longer that overwhelming blackness that wouldn’t dissipate; a glance revealed the outlines of things.

Even beyond those outlines, there was another much grander door, and it was already ajar.

Dilapidated and eerie.

Judging by the scene outside, the prisoners’ nightmares behind the door might not be ongoing, which was indeed a possibility previously speculated.

But honestly, for Lord Destiny Snake to vanish like smoke, in Fu Qian’s view, the possibility seemed rather low.

There has to be a reason, doesn’t it?

The warehouse clearly stated that the prisoners had already been sentenced to death and couldn’t run into the Bookstore World.

And the Witch over there, wielding surveillance, hadn’t detected any clear signs of intrusion.

So you’re telling me people just disappeared? And not just anyone, but a hard-to-kill candidate from the destiny side.

By normal logical reasoning, there was considerable suspicion of a reverse empty city plan.

Even though Fu Qian readily agreed, even stepping through the door hadn’t made him hasty to find something to feed the Bone Chain.

...

”What’s behind there?”

The Interlocutor seemed somewhat surprised by Fu Qian’s straightforwardness, but this time he displayed a level of composure far above usual, even stepping aside thoughtfully.

Having taken a step in without encountering three hundred axemen rushing in, Fu Qian leisurely observed the unchanged scene as he started to chat.

The faint glow on the door seemed to emanate from behind it.

It was as if, when darkness descended, he had saved a scoop of light and hid it under the covers; the brightness in here was even slightly higher than that of the door.

But that was about it; High Tier Transcendent looking to see things might not have an issue, but the thinness and weakness of the light were such that calling it the afterglow of a matchstick was a compliment.

No matter what, with the help of this bit, one could see that the space behind the door wasn’t vast, and its style was somewhat consistent with the corridor outside, streamlined with no excess.

So much so that Fu Qian, after one glance, directly focused on that door.

Except for being much larger, its shape was similar to the outside, as for the color—

Fu Qian looked at the dim red-brown and the somewhat mottled yet still familiar texture, feeling he could better understand why Brother Interlocutor would appear here.

Indeed, it was another door belonging to His Excellency Alarakir.

So not a slave of two masters, but a diligent servant following in their footsteps?

...

Known as the most harmless His Excellency Alarakir, did his influence extend to the house of the Destiny Snake?

This was somewhat an unexpected development.

”You can see for yourself; even I find it difficult to describe.”

Thankfully, today’s anomalies were numerous; for instance, Brother Interlocutor was not only warmly welcoming but even rarely displayed humility.

Difficult to describe, a fitting phrase to depict the current situation...

And although his statement had more form than substance, the ever-generous Expert Fu still found a bit to commend.

Without inquiring further, he genuinely went with the flow, eventually standing in front of the door.

Despite becoming dimmer, through the gap wide enough for a person, it was still easy to observe a bit of the scene beyond the door—still proper.

Indeed, beyond the door, there was no chaotic dance of demons or nightmares running rampant.

Ordinary steps, normal shadows, and regularly shaped paths seemed to belong to the same complex as the corridor outside.

It easily evoked a scenario where, after the nightmares crafted by the prisoners dissipated, this originally concealed part began to reveal itself.

”Isn’t it quite describable?”

While quietly appraising, Fu Qian didn’t forget that his old friend was just behind him, timely enlivaging the atmosphere.

”...you should go down and have a look.”

Even the usually hospitable Interlocutor appeared impacted by the angle of this query, pausing before continuing his suggestion.

”So you’ve been down?”

Fu Qian did not refuse, merely curiously affirming.

”Of course...”

When the Interlocutor replied, it seemed the words coming out felt scorching hot, showing reluctance to have any connection with below.

”That’s great, I remember helping you clear the way once; now it’s time for your repayment.”

However, Fu Qian did not let him get his wish, nodding with great satisfaction and gesturing towards behind the door.

”You...”

It was apparent that the Interlocutor hesitated at that moment, though he didn’t deny the favor he owed.

And as he gazed at the opened gap, he finally didn’t utter words of refusal.

The next moment, this typically cautious God Eroder unexpectedly stepped forward and walked in.
