Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2252: Chapter 2247: Soul Splitting

”Who are we guiding?”

The Interlocutor’s voice carried a hint of sarcasm, sharp and biting, but Fu Qian remained unperturbed, turning his head to suddenly ask back.

”Of course, it’s me... Are you not planning to let me follow?”

With a pause, furrowed brows, the Interlocutor seemed a bit confused about the situation.

”Who are you?”

Fu Qian’s questioning was far from over.

”I’ve introduced myself long ago, you can call me God Eroder, or the Interlocutor...”

The questions grew increasingly absurd, yet the Interlocutor maintained his rare composure, responding with determination.

”So, are you God Eroder or the Interlocutor?”

The interrogation continued without pause.

”...What are you trying to say?”

Even the good-natured Interlocutor of today seemed finally unable to bear it, refusing to answer and instead retorting.

”What you say is not important, the key is to whom you say it.”

Fu Qian merely shook his head, leisurely standing there.

”Think more about it, who are you guiding?”

...

The air seemed to stagnate, the Interlocutor’s dry human face was tightly fixated on this side, as if he might turn away in the next moment.

Such an oppressive scene, Fu Qian naturally ignored, pleased that the other had a few seconds to think.

”Of course, it’s me... Otherwise, to that fool?”

And in his moment of expectation, the Interlocutor finally spoke slowly, initially almost repeating his earlier response.

But soon after, his tone changed markedly, the address showing clear separation.

”That’s right, which fool?”

Fu Qian seemed extremely satisfied with this development, nodding to continue.

”That fool you imagine, the Clown who is always played around... of course, it’s not surprising, if I were you, I would want to meet him too.”

By now, the Interlocutor’s tone had completely shifted, not only losing its earlier enthusiasm but even the friendliness of their initial meeting had vanished.

As for the object he described, his stance was obviously extremely disdainful, with an aloofness refusing to associate.

Combined with this revelation of being discovered with a relaxed exposure, it’s easy to arrive at a chilling conclusion — this character, who seems identical even in memory, is not the original Interlocutor.

Not only was there dilapidation throughout the corridor, but certain unique changes were also occurring silently...

”Is it really alright to say that about yourself? I thought you’d be mocking me instead, given how I’ve been deceived by your disguise for so long.”

Unfortunately, the atmosphere that had just been built up was ruthlessly shattered by Fu Qian in the next moment.

”Insightfully” identifying the other as an impostor, Fu Qian again shifted sides, looking as if conversing with the real Interlocutor.

...

”What do you mean by saying that about yourself...”

The ”Interlocutor” appeared somewhat dazed.

Perhaps his mind could barely grasp the meaning in Fu Qian’s words, but his emotions seemed unable to keep pace, leaving his expression rather stiff.

”The previous ’Clown’ was an act, now it’s your true self, isn’t this what we’ve always been discussing?”

Returning again to the conversation, Fu Qian’s tone was matter-of-fact, as if he hadn’t been the one to previously emphasize the question of ”Who to guide.”

”Because of my earlier words... you reached this conclusion? If indeed that’s the case, I must express regret.”

Anyway, during the moment he took to explain, the Interlocutor finally managed to slightly adjust his emotions, thereby calming down to organize his speech.

And the speech he constructed, indeed carried a certain aggressiveness.

”With such a major incident, being stimulated isn’t strange; frankly, compared to coming in and seeing you continue to act cute, I think this is more normal.”

As the target of the attack, Fu Qian remained indifferent, even while speaking, hinted at his head, demonstrating powerful empathetic ability.

”It’s equally reasonable for you to offer such a self-assessment; in the face of adversity, people grow, but often come to detest their pre-growth selves.”

...

In His Excellency Alarakir’s deep-seated mansion, that moment the Interlocutor was very silent, seemingly fully judging if what he heard was heartfelt.

And fully capable of understanding this emotion, Fu Qian did not interrupt.

As for whether it was heartfelt — why not?

Indeed, Fu Qian did not believe this was simply a clone’s trick.

The Interlocutor’s appearance this time was undoubtedly very abnormal.

Such that unless one was excessively slow, it would be impossible not to notice something amiss.

Furthermore, if slightly less slow, like questioning as I did earlier, the answer obtained could easily provoke conspiracy theories, namely that the old friend mentioned earlier is no longer here, and what stands before us is merely an impostor.

Not to mention, the Interlocutor had entered the Second Phase directly under questioning, almost admitting in effect.

However, to Fu Qian, cognitive inertia was something he always tried to avoid.

An extreme to another extreme is also a form of inertia.

And between them, theoretically speaking, there could be a simpler explanation, one even less influenced by the Transcendent factor —

Upon returning to the corridor this time, Fu Qian’s first query was, given a high probability they hadn’t run away, where exactly the prisoners had gone.

Ultimately, having searched all along, the circumstances seemed to offer an answer, which is the prisoners hadn’t gone anywhere, but had collectively fallen into a peculiar state.

Intermingling with each other, from former cellmates maintaining boundaries, they had turned into an alternative form of closeness.

It might be difficult to confirm how this situation came about, but evidently under emotional sublimation, things were even more chaotic than the last time.

And to Fu Qian, the immediate repercussion was concern for Brother Interlocutor’s situation.

As mentioned before, with him having been trapped in here with at least five Superior Being prisoners for so long, it’s hard to imagine he’d only be influenced by one.

Thus, the role the Interlocutor plays in this Five-Person Melee, is intricately subtle from any angle.

...

”Heh... From the moment the change occurred, I knew you would come.”

At this time, after a moment of silence, the Interlocutor stealthily shifted into another kind of exposure tone, his facial expression becoming familiar.

”I originally wanted to change to a more interesting welcoming ceremony, but you hardly cooperated.”

His subsequent words sounded decidedly forthright, almost outright admitting Fu Qian’s suspicion again.

”So, you are both God Eroder and the Interlocutor?”

Faced with such eloquence, Fu Qian listened, slightly nodding.

”Having been guessed already, continuing to insist seems meaningless?”

The Interlocutor chuckled.

”Then which Interlocutor are you exactly? Under Alarakir, Destiny Snake... or among the remaining ones?”

Fu Qian had yet to finish asking, continuing on.
