Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1994: Chapter 1989: Having Suffered Discrimination

As swift as the wind.

It didn’t even have eyes, yet the snake’s movements were quite agile for a moment—though it still missed.

Fu Qian’s movements were almost synchronized with it, but in the completely opposite direction.

Even if Miss Liushuang, who was startled, hadn’t stepped back, the distance between her and the snake’s head remained unchanged.

Of course, this brought the snake’s head closer to Professor Lisa.

The previous dullness reappeared after the pounce yielded no results.

However, this time it recovered faster. Immediately afterward, the snake’s head seemed to have found a new target, swinging directly toward the closer Lisa like a dragon wagging its tail.

Without a doubt, Professor Fu sidestepped once more, and the snake’s head positioning system maintained extremely stable operation, leaving it empty-handed again.

”What on earth is this? So disgusting!”

But Professor Lisa wasn’t as easygoing as Ji Liushuang, glaring at the box with undisguised disgust.

Indeed.

Although theoretically, this restoration of true form was of similar size, Fu Qian believed that even if Professor Lisa did the same, she would definitely appear much more elegant than this.

”Not just disgusting on the outside, but ugly on the inside too.”

Holding the box, Fu Qian’s assessment was far from polite.

After two unsuccessful attacks, the snake’s head seemed enveloped in a massive confusion, swaying back and forth without making another move for a long time.

”What do you mean?”

Even with Professor Fu’s support, Lisa still couldn’t help but be puzzled by his wording.

”Double standards.”

To this, Fu Qian merely let out a cold laugh, his tone filled with righteous indignation.

”Miss Liushuang, you, me, there are clearly three people here, and I’m even the closest. What does it mean to stop after two pounces? Discrimination because Fu is dressed shabbily?”

...

But you really are dressed shabbily...

Clearly unable to empathize, at that moment, Lisa only silently criticized in her heart.

But it wasn’t entirely unreasonable. This thing’s craving for transcendent flesh was normal, and there were only three people present. It was so aggressive towards herself and Ji Liushuang, yet never attacked the nearest target.

It was somewhat abnormal...but no matter what, it definitely wasn’t the reason this guy stated.

”Because of divinity? You’re too strong, it prefers preying on weaker transcendent beings?”

Lisa quickly thought of a possibility.

”It’s indeed an explanation.”

When it comes to research topics, Fu Qian is always fair and didn’t blindly deny it, though he wasn’t too supportive either.

After all, regarding the polluted Crystal Blessing affecting Kaldora and others, Fu Qian personally heard from the person involved that even Second Phase participants couldn’t be immune.

”Could it be gender? Is its target preference females?”

At this moment, Miss Liushuang, who hadn’t voiced her opinion for a while, furrowed her brow in thought and offered her insight.

And undoubtedly, it was highly controversial.

No way... Where did you think of that from?

The look Professor Lisa gave was almost filled with a bit of powerlessness amidst the shock.

It’s not completely unjustified, but such a peculiar train of thought clearly shouldn’t appear in this promising young person.

Has the downside of working in such places finally manifested? Strictly speaking, this should count as a form of mental contamination, right?

Professor Lisa glanced sidelong at the culprit.

”Makes sense, I also think this probability is greater.”

And the next moment, she was left speechless as Professor Fu clapped his hands earnestly, evidently more in favor of this idea.

...

What do you know, Fu has already encountered such gender discrimination once before, even from a former Academy member.

In response to Professor Lisa’s reaction, Fu Qian just snorted internally.

His previous statements were absolutely about the situation and not the person. Compared to the reason of divinity, he indeed leaned more towards this possibility—that the slashed flesh was only interested in females.

One of his inspirations came from Lady Nepheli’s psychological cleanliness.

As for why Miss Liushuang, without this inspiration, came up with this idea?

Simply, she has her mother’s example in front of her; the previous victim was also female.

With herself and Lisa, three consecutive targets were enough to draw an empirical conclusion.

Speaking of which, it has to be mentioned why Fu Qian thought of using Kaldora’s flesh to test the Rebellion Axe.

On one hand, the Academy provided testing experience that this divine flesh can fuse with and assimilate any transcendent being.

On the other hand, from prior communications with Kaldora during a task, it’s known that the Crystal Blessing had a wondrous effect of complementing and perfecting one’s abilities.

Although after complementing, the effect might slightly change from the original, it still didn’t stop Fu Qian from pondering the deeper reasons behind it.

The most crucial point being, the fundamental prerequisite to achieve such an effect—the Crystal Blessing seems to automatically recognize extraordinary powers?

Otherwise, how could it specifically enhance?

In a way, the divine flesh before us is a Fallen version of it.

And specifically in this project, since the hand axe’s effect is hard to confirm, is there any possibility that this bundle of divine flesh could respond to its stimulus, thereby undergoing some special changes to signify the hand axe’s effect?

Simply put, Fu Qian regarded Kaldora’s flesh as a universal cell that could differentiate specifically based on what it contacts.

The only concern is whether, if it’s indeed specific to the Ji Family bloodline, this divine flesh can simulate to such a fine degree.

Fortunately, there was eventually a change.

So, the conclusion is the hand axe has a special affinity for females?

From this perspective, there’s even an additional case to support this—Lady Cecilia was also chopped by it.

And if we tentatively use this conclusion as a basis for inference, the next question is, why is it interested in females?

Surely it can’t be the same as Lady Nepheli, or perhaps—

In the long-awaited silence, Fu Qian finally captured a new movement from the snake’s head.

Only to see, after aimlessly swaying, it still showed no interest in attacking this side. Instead, it quickly coiled back, diving headfirst into that bundle of flesh.

...

Utterly outrageous.

At that moment, Fu Qian seemed to become some sort of food that would rather starve to death than be chosen.

Of course, filled with righteous indignation, he didn’t delay in continuing to draw conclusions.

It turned out that the ”snake” didn’t completely give up and integrate itself; instead, it truly plunged into the flesh like a foreign object, causing the latter to writhe more intensely.

Even the trembling of the flesh brought about another change, gradually becoming semi-transparent.

To the point where one could begin to see the internal structure, changes, shape... even the head-to-body ratio.

That’s right, there was a baby.

Is that why the snake’s head targets females?
