Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1993: Chapter 1988: Test Plan

Ah?

At that moment, Miss Liushuang wasn’t even the most reactive one; Lisa was clearly caught off guard by how the topic suddenly turned to her.

”What materials? I don’t recall agreeing to anything.”

However, her extensive experience dealing with Professor Fu instinctively heightened her alertness to the maximum, putting her on full guard.

”Of course, because you haven’t helped me apply for it yet.”

Needless to say, Professor Fu’s logical response still managed to break through the lowest of her expectations.

Even the application needed her assistance—

”I want a piece of Karadola’s flesh.”

But before her resentment could boil over, Fu Qian quickly added.

”...Didn’t you just apply for one?”

Instantly realizing that something similar had happened before, indeed, this was the process. Lisa was momentarily speechless and took a while before retorting.

”I’ve used it up. There are too many projects on hand.”

With honesty as his best policy, Fu Qian replied matter-of-factly.

”That kind of material is strictly regulated...”

Given the track record, Professor Lisa found it hard to question and could only weakly emphasize the management regulations.

”I know, you’re the one strictly regulating it.”

To Professor Fu, this reason was indeed weak.

...

The focus was clearly on how to test the hand axe, which was hard-earned. Fortunately, Fu Qian had already thought it through.

Just like Miss Liushuang mentioned earlier, should they just chop her once and observe the effects?

Objectively speaking, it’s not a bad method.

Not only using her mother Ji Xue as a comparative case but also directly targeting the most concerning issue—what interactions and connections exist between the hand axe and Elder Ji Feng, as well as the Ji Family, and its legitimate heirs.

However, it was precisely because there was no answer yet, Fu Qian wasn’t planning to test it that way.

As a benchmark laboratory for the Academy, maintaining its image was just as important.

While making contributions is one thing, as a research assistant with foresight, such highly uncertain risks are not something the prudent management would endorse.

But if not testing this way, then how else?

Test it on oneself?

Regrettably, while playing with it earlier, he had already casually done that, concluding with no gains.

Even with ninety-nine points of Inspiration plus Second Order Extraordinary, Fu Qian didn’t find anything unusual about himself.

Swallow it with physical insight?

That indeed would be a method, but on one hand, the opportunity would be reduced to just once, and on the other hand, this blind box opening behavior could spell trouble if a negative effect is discovered, besides—

”Did your elders instruct you to keep it well?”

Professor Lisa was still pondering, and Fu Qian glanced at Ji Liushuang.

”Yes, they repeatedly emphasized its great value.”

Miss Liushuang nodded.

There was nothing more normal than this, and Fu Qian fully understood the unspoken subtext.

The story of the axe and Ji Xue was no doubt well-known among those people.

Theoretical predictions about the next Family Head suddenly taking interest in this thing piqued their spirits, they would surely want to prevent one scenario, where the next Family Head actually considers it a risk and is prepared to destroy it.

To avoid such a scenario as much as possible, adding a bit of pressure was never a mistake.

”And you’re still planning to expose it to Divine Blood and Flesh? Forgot what I told you about its characteristics?”

While the unspoken exchange occurred, Professor Lisa suddenly recalled important keywords and exclaimed loudly.

”I know, it will cause corrosion, but rest assured, my hands are quick.”

Fu Qian couldn’t even be bothered to show contempt.

There’s a difference between reminding and accepting, so why should Miss Liushuang obediently listen?

...

”Are you sure you want her to go in together? It’s not only a meaningless violation of rules but could also bring unwanted effects.”

Seeing that even the research assistant had no opinions, Professor Lisa eventually gave up resisting.

Yet, standing in front of the familiar underground passage of Heaven’s Commencement Institute, she hesitatedly reminded Fu Qian, pointing at Ji Liushuang.

It could be heard that she wasn’t particularly concerned about following rules, primarily not wanting such a boring matter to expose the youth to risks.

”Makes sense. Then we’ll wait here and I’ll require five times the amount this time.”

It’s not that Fu Qian doesn’t heed advice, he immediately conceded, gesturing with his hand.

I...

Realizing that she would be providing the entire application and approval service herself, Professor Lisa almost turned to leave, although ultimately she moved forward in frustration.

...

”Here.”

Being the professional she is, Lisa quickly came back, barely having a conversation with the assistant outside before delivering a hefty metal case into Fu Qian’s hands discreetly.

The true face, where has it gone?

Fu Qian casually accepted the larger-than-before container, making it obvious that Professor Lisa didn’t shortchange the amount.

Upon opening the exaggeratedly thick lid, Fu Qian examined the dark red, pulsating mass of flesh inside, offering a silent observation.

With past experiences from the Undersea Prison, it’s becoming more intriguing why Professor Karadola turned into this state.

Presumably, related to ”Crystal Blessing,” yet the present flesh showed no sparkly traces.

Regarding the crystallization source, it seemed connected to the old research institution discovered during that exploration.

”This much Divine Blood and Flesh, if uncontrollably used, has serious consequences.

”Where do you plan to test? Be sure to prepare for containment in advance!”

At this point, Professor Lisa hadn’t forgotten her duty, sternly reminding.

”Here?”

Fu Qian nodded, acquiescing to the suggestion.

...

”You really plan to test it right here?”

Seeing Fu Qian had already drawn the hand axe, Lisa was once again deeply shocked.

On the other hand, perhaps this approach made sense.

No place is better equipped to contain the unexpected... was this then why the research assistant was needed?

”Relax, my hands are quick.”

At this point, Fu Qian repeated the phrase with a smile, twirling the axe and leaving a gouge on the flesh within the container.

Whoosh—

No bluffing, the speed was indeed quick, so much so the axe barely touched anything.

The Divine Blood and Flesh, typically agitated by the surrounding transcendent aura, momentarily paused from the slight shock.

But only for an instant before strange sounds emerged.

As if bubbles rose from within, causing intense throbs in the flesh, stretching out a strip of Pharaoh’s Snake Treasure meat,

even rearing up like a real snake for a moment before suddenly slithering towards Ji Liushuang.
