Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1954: Chapter 1949: Mathematical Euphoria (10)

The surprise is because my SAN Points really did drop, and as for the admiration, it’s because it seems the plan really worked.

It’s been said early on that achieving multiple goals is a basic trait of an Evil God.

Taking such a risk just now, the hopes were for more than just one result.

Besides confirming whether death can’t help with escape, and going the opposite route to gather precious information, there’s one more thing that’s never forgotten—

The current mission objective is to penetrate through Reincarnation and enter the next heaven.

Faced with such a content, it’s easy to understand, just like Kako and the others in the City of Bliss, exhausting the rationale to seek Transcendence.

But don’t let your thinking be too rigid; breaking through to the next heaven isn’t defined as which heaven to break through to. Would transforming from Non-human Reincarnation to human count?

Going from the first floor to the second is going upstairs, and from the basement to the first floor is the same.

Although it seems that even if you transform into an animal, you’re still wandering in Paradise and haven’t fallen into something like Purgatory.

But since the form after breaking through to the next heaven is difficult to understand and imagine for those who have yet to achieve it, why must it necessarily be on a material level?

Could a mental breakthrough out of shackles be one form of it?

Moreover, the mission’s objective specifically mentioned penetrating Reincarnation.

Not waiting for the painful cycle to end, but voluntarily breaking through and leaping out seems like standard compliant behavior.

Although this kind of thinking might be a bit too broad for Kako and the others, a group of theoretically misguided failures should have their experiences critically accepted, not blindly trusted or partial.

Indeed, the dangerous behavior I engaged in truly brought quite a spectacular harvest.

...

The hint of mission completion proved quite a lot.

Penetrating Reincarnation no longer needed to be discussed, as it was already within understanding.

But my current situation, does it equate to breaking through to the ”next heaven”?

The relationships among these heavens are profoundly intriguing.

The phantom image seen in the warehouse, was it merely a symbolic representation, essentially just an abstract concept?

Did the group who spoke of Shattering Void not actually reach a higher dimension, but just continue traversing in this Paradise in a special state?

This is a reasonable inference and relatively optimistic.

Because while it aligns with past experiences, bear in mind my new mission objective—the Ancient Elders of the Nine Layers Heaven.

If it really is only a mental ascent, essentially still revolving in the City of Bliss, it seems somewhat less challenging to accomplish.

Bear in mind that I’m now in a mortal body, and Shattering Void seems like such a strenuous task.

Unfortunately, despite saying this, Fu Qian also hadn’t forgotten one insight—not to hesitate in maliciously speculating about the harsh dangers of this journey.

What if it’s not?

What if breaking through Non-human Reincarnation is an exception, and moving further still requires true Shattering Void to enter another realm?

And the City of Bliss belongs only to the first level?

That would mean I need to, in a mortal body, break through eight more dimensional barriers, ultimately face an existence eight dimensions higher than where I am now, and finally, to destroy it—destruction is key.

Fu Qian sneered coldly at one moment.

You shouldn’t claim to love your target only when they’re easy to kill, no matter the difficulty, assassination missions are our favorite.

Though the situation seems indeed formidable, this heartening type of mission slightly compensates.

Of course, there’s one more minor point, which is the first of the two hints—what was that about losing SAN Points?

Undertaking risk early to avoid resource shortages later is obviously based on past experience.

Yet in the next moment, it really deducted 1 SAN Point?

Without even a reason given.

Nothing indescribable was seen, nor was any intense mental shock experienced, it can’t be the admission ticket, right?

Indeed, upon hearing the prompt, Fu Qian attempted some associations, and this was one of the answers.

Even without a reason, concocting relationships between seemingly unrelated elements is a professional skill of expert consultants.

Did anything from previous experiences relate to the number ”1”?

Yes, I had just ”broken through” from Non-human Reincarnation to the first heaven.

...

If it’s true, then it must be said this intent is too malicious.

While it’s mere conjecture under common elements of SAN loss, one can naturally sense its severity.

If entering each heaven indeed requires SAN Points as an admission fee, then in the mildest scenario, I’d still need to expend eight more to complete the task.

In the less mild scenario, if SAN Points correspond to tier levels, that would be a total of forty-four from two to nine.

For me, that might be bearable, but as per previous understanding, that number evidently puts some pressure on the predecessors.

Truly large-scale payment to work.

With a long sigh in his heart, and after thinking without finding any emblem, name, statue or other common faith elements, Fu Qian eventually turned to inspect individual information.

This little chapel is indeed peculiar; altar, sanctuary, imagery, everything that should be present is, except the God.

Even in the White Head Holy Church, there’re those kinds of holy yet sinister special emblems.

Anyway, think on the bright side, there are still plenty of seating here, embodying a prosperous cultural atmosphere.

Regrettably perhaps due to bad timing, only a few people are seated at the moment.

With a quick side glance, Fu Qian easily confirmed that besides himself seated in the second row, this whole area has only two others.

A man and a woman, one dressed similarly to himself, and the other more casually.

The male, who appears slimmer and smaller, posed much easier, while the other quickly glanced back upon his gaze.

...

Interesting.

Given the serene and wise bearing typical of the Paradise norm, the female churchgoer’s face disclosed no further information.

Yet such a nimble reaction speed was enough for Fu Qian to catch something unusual.

Earlier, using the reflective floor tiles, he had roughly confirmed his appearance, assuring that it wasn’t the body he woke up with in the coffin.

This is understandable; the original body already dead, perhaps decomposed like Brother Strong and bloomed.

Why wasn’t it from a fertilized egg?

It’s not a Reincarnation like Kako and them. This kind of abnormal change certainly seems like proof of penetrating Reincarnation.

The only question now is what was the original identity of this body?

From the female churchgoer’s reaction, it feels somewhat special, not purely random.
