Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1960: Chapter 1955: Mathematical Bliss (16)

The gaze of a true idealist is often something those with impure thoughts cannot face directly.

In that moment, the small chapel was plunged into a clearer silence.

After nearly two and a half years of sitting in this silent place with painstaking effort, unafraid of misunderstanding, this bold decision seemed to burn with its brilliance just by thinking about it.

And the reason why such an effect could be achieved, just by a single claim without even mentioning what the ”Redemption Path” truly is, is quite simple—

This person had killed for the Brotherhood, right before our eyes.

Observing his words and actions, given the gravity of such behavior in Paradise, there’s no need to concern oneself with the motive.

Whether it’s shocking words, embellishing the past, intensifying the mockery of Brotherhood thoughts, or even plain madness... none of that matters.

He killed someone for this conversation.

When such an action is presented, all words and probes seem instantly pale and dull.

”You’re insane.”

At least Brother Thick Eyebrow, who was always the first to break the silence, clearly demonstrated this point.

Amidst the subconscious stares of more than one person, he ultimately broke the silence first after all.

Yet, the content itself was somewhat embarrassing, so much so that Fu Qian, the subject of the comment, lost interest in responding, merely sneering coldly and squatting down.

The scarlet ground originally presented a gruesome scene that was hard to witness.

But combined with Fu Qian’s actions and the unwiped blood on his face, that moment had an eerie sacredness, enough so that even the old Priest hesitated before stopping, allowing him to perform an act suspected of desecration of a corpse.

Indeed, Fu Qian’s action at that moment was peculiar.

As he squatted, his face almost simultaneously approached the still bleeding wound, taking a deep sniff.

Like the previous victim, Brother Strong, there was already a faint fragrance in the air, as death swiftly approached.

Though the blossoms had not yet bloomed on the body, even the scent was penetratingly beautiful to the soul.

Once again, it seemed another innocent victim fell at the hands of a true villain intruding into Paradise.

Fu Qian could be said to have openly admitted to his actions without the intention of cover-up; however, the issue here is—he was not innocent.

...

This knife is indeed remarkable.

Amidst the gathered stares, the blade in Fu Qian’s hand glimmered coldly, once again showcasing its sharpness, drawing everyone’s gaze and ultimately focusing on that young face.

Blood flashed again as the first cut landed on the forehead of the corpse.

Indeed, for this young one named Helen, Fu Qian believed her previous attack had hidden mysteries.

No matter how natural the emotions were, how reasonable the motive, or how unprofessional the stab against him was, Fu Qian maintained this judgment.

Because the preceding array of actions was essentially for this outcome.

Now that the first step of the mission is complete, the next task is to find the target ”Ancient Man”.

But as the one ultimately to be slain by him, would He truly offer a leisurely chance to search?

It’s indeed hard to be so optimistic.

Like the initial judgment, Fu Qian always assumed all his actions fell under observation, with even his intentions possibly being somewhat sensed.

And against such a scenario, Fu Qian could be said to have been waiting for the opposition to come looking from the very first second the mission updated.

Perhaps in this City of Bliss, interpreting everyone’s actions is more complex and difficult, yet there remains a reliable criterion—murder.

True acts of slaughter carry special meaning in Paradise.

No matter how natural the process, Fu Qian considered it a ”welcome” towards himself.

And considering the possibility that the target might want his intentions to remain hidden, the core of Fu Qian’s previous actions was actually to provoke emotions wildly, increasing his own loathsome appeal.

It is a process of mutual pursuit.

And ultimately, the results undoubtedly yielded significant gains.

The seemingly worst-case scenario was confirmed—he truly was being watched the entire time and was indeed suspected of his intentions.

The mutual pursuit had actually been ongoing, with the opponent taking action as soon as a slight chance presented.

However, a piece of bad news is that the one behind seemed capable of manipulating the actions of Paradise’s members to some degree.

Fu Qian did not believe the corpse, doomed by his hands, was the Ancient Man of Nine Layers Heaven.

At least until now, it appeared entirely mortal flesh and blood.

Amidst all the hustle, Fu Qian finally stood up, silently inspecting the intact facial skin in his hand.

...

Although he rarely did such things, and even with his current mortal physique, handling it was still relatively easy for Fu Qian.

Not only was the shape intact, with even thickness, but it wasn’t overly bloody either.

And just as he completed this act and showcased his work, that corpse finally decomposed into various flowers amid the dense exotic scent.

Perhaps because it was already a processed object, remarkably, the facial skin remained, not undergoing transformation.

One could fully feel that in face of Fu Qian’s movement of raising it in contemplation, the morale within the Brotherhood reached a quite exceptional state.

In this City of Bliss, the scene was undeniably impactful.

What a pity.

As the person involved, Fu Qian, during a round of scrutiny, merely shook his head, again verifying the earlier judgment.

It was indeed an utterly ordinary person, with neither extraordinary power nor anything mysterious within the flesh.

Even when he was peeling the facial skin earlier, he had checked the scalp incidentally and saw no map of a mysterious labyrinth embedded in it.

Thus, two inferences could be drawn about the current situation.

The pessimistic angle is that the deceased’s impulsive behavior was actually driven by someone, most likely the target he had to deal with.

He might not yet confirm Fu Qian’s intent, but still prepared to address the threat with a concealed stance.

As for the optimistic angle, one should always think positively: no matter the difficulty, being pursued and having someone ready to seize opportunities provides a trace back to the pursuer.

Besides, a theoretically superior ”Ancient Man” needing to arrange an assassination plot on the current map rather than employing more extravagant methods of dimensional reduction attack?

The state and relations among the Nine Paradise Realms truly offer maximum room for imagination.

”Now, let us visit that gentleman unwilling to pay.”

In his thoughts, Fu Qian, quite naturally, adhered the skin to his face, and in a leader’s tone, brought up the matter Brother Thick Eyebrow mentioned earlier.
