Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 836: Chapter 834 Ignite (8) Chapter 836: Chapter 834 Ignite (8) Although Ballard claimed to be a faction of Order, in the end, he was not overcome by negative emotions.

His gaze swept over Fu Qian and Akasha, and with a snort, he took the lead out the door, pausing to look up.

Fu Qian and Akasha followed closely behind. The conflict at the restaurant had clearly caused quite a stir, and the trio instantly became the center of attention.

Following Ballard’s gaze, at that moment, on the glass curtain wall of the building across the street, a giant advertisement was playing.

A speck of dark blue, growing from a distance, seemed as if it was about to split the screen and burst into reality.

And it truly burst forth.

Amid the focused attention, a car actually smashed through the smooth curtain wall.

Four wheels, a convertible, sharp in shape, its surface, much like Ballard’s armor, was covered with mirrors of various sizes and looked extraordinarily cool.

But its form… besides being cool, the most eye-catching aspect of the car was that it was being pulled by an armored horse sporting heavy leg guards with spikes.

Even the heavy greaves couldn’t hide the misty blue haze around the horse’s four hooves.

So, there’s no gasoline, huh?

Even with such a cool design, it had to use bioenergy, right?

But here’s the issue, Fu Qian thought, looking at the neon lights filling the street.

Isn’t there still electricity? They could use some new energy source!

After finishing his critique, that historically coolest “chariot” had already rushed in front of the restaurant like a bullet, even silently opening its rear doors.

“Please, Mr. Andiel.”

Clearly very pleased with this cool entrance, Ballard hummed and gave Fu Qian a gesture.

“Much appreciated!”

Fu Qian nodded in response, and naturally took out a bill from his pocket, handing it over.

…

Not only Ballard but also Akasha, standing nearby, was stunned.

After a full five seconds of silence, and a glance at the arm Akasha was tightly holding, Ballard stepped forward and grabbed the bill from Fu Qian’s hand.

This wasn’t the time to deal with such an individual.

During this self-consolation, an empty feeling transmitted from that end made Ballard pause for a moment.

At the same time, Akasha’s exclamation also came, as the target she was hugging with her arms and bone wings vanished in an instant.

A strong sense of crisis swept over him, and countless mirror-like glows flickered on Ballard’s armor, converging into an illusory matrix on his body’s surface.

This was one of his most proud abilities; even without a physical form, each level of the matrix had defense almost as strong as the armor itself.

Even when shattered, each edge could become an invincible blade.

However, the next moment, amid the crisp sound of breaking, this matrix, touted as absolute defense, was effortlessly penetrated by a sharp claw.

Of course, that claw didn’t escape unscathed either, crossing through the broken edges, its surface instantly split with dozens of wounds.

Yet even so, it relentlessly pierced through the Face Helmet, grabbing the head beneath.

Crack!

Ballard didn’t even have a chance to utter a word, his head was crushed into pulp.

You…

Facing that presence that seemed to move through the Void, smilingly looking over, an overpowering sense of danger arose in Akasha’s mind.

Claws lashed out, aiming not to kill but to restrain, and Akasha instinctively stepped back, yet a barely visible line of blood appeared out of nowhere.

Under some unimaginable force, her body, instead of retreating, was pulled back directly.

Deciding swiftly, the red hair enveloping Akasha instantly wove into a net, encasing Fu Qian’s approaching claw.

However, in the next moment, she saw him retracting his claw, and with another flicker of his figure, he dodged a blue flash.

Greedy Warhorse, with an inconceivable speed, split the silhouette he left behind.

Fu Qian’s expression turned cold, and he glanced at Akasha with some reluctance.

“Today seems a bit inconvenient.”

As these words were still lingering in the air, his figure vanished again.

At the same time, a blood-stained banknote slowly fell from midair.

…

Crash!

The next moment, Ballard, whose head had been crushed and should have fallen, was actually grasping the horse’s neck, slowly standing up.

Inside his splitting face helmet, there was no longer any shape of a head, just a cavity of red and white.

After giving Akasha a look with that horrifying appearance, Ballard buried his face deeply into the back of the horse.

A sound like glass friction emerged. The horse let out a high-pitched neigh immediately.

On the horse’s back, the shimmering mirror pieces, pulled by some force, quickly converged toward where Ballard’s face was.

In this situation, Akasha hesitated briefly and then decided to stay on guard nearby.

But in no more than ten seconds, Ballard raised his head.

At a glance, inside the face helmet, which had been empty, a head had appeared again.

Only, compared to before, this head seemed to be made up of countless crystalline mirrors, more so than flesh and blood.

“That guy is more dangerous than I imagined.”

The next moment, the crystalline figure spoke.

As he spoke, the facial contours also softened rapidly, and soon enough Ballard’s appearance was discernible.

“He must be targeting us.”

“What does that mean?”

Still not recovered from the shock, Akasha’s gaze flickered.

“The reason he entered that restaurant was not for Catherine, but because he spotted me lurking nearby.”

“First, he dealt with the trouble, then deliberately acted suspiciously and even didn’t hesitate to admit being an outsider, expressing willingness to be controlled, and eventually attacked us when we were at our most relaxed.”

“Fortunately, there were two of us, and fortunately, he chose me as the first target; otherwise, it would have been nearly impossible for anyone else to survive.”

…

For a moment, Akasha found herself at a loss for words.

She had seen the whole situation, understood the incomprehensible assault and damage, and knew she couldn’t have avoided it.

The key was that she couldn’t resurrect in the bizarre way Ballard did after sustaining such injury.

“He indeed is a terrifying opponent; no demigod has ever made me feel this way.”

The next moment she let out a long sigh.

“You’re right, if we had attacked together at the beginning, whether we could have kept him or not, most likely, I would have been the one to die.”

“I also need to thank you.”

As he spoke, Ballard’s injuries had fully recovered.

“No matter what he says, he would have never gone to the base willingly, so if you hadn’t come just then, even if I was more cautious, he would have forcibly made a move, and I would have probably died twice.”

“But why would he do this? I can’t imagine a reason.”

Akasha shook her head, expressing her inability to understand.

“I feel the same, but with such a monster breaking in here, it’s best to alert everyone to be cautious—”

Ballard cut his sentence halfway, suddenly falling silent, as if listening to something.

After a moment, he slowly raised his head to look at Akasha, his expression eerie.
