Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 801: Chapter 799 Betrayal Chapter 801: Chapter 799 Betrayal Lego and Suzune arrived slower than expected.

By the time they arrived near noon, their expressions were quite uneasy.

“Is there something interesting happening?”

Their appearance piqued Fu Qian’s curiosity.

“…We came to check on Kagetsu Kana’s situation with you.”

Their overly eager attitude made the two Night Watchmen even more uneasy, but eventually, Suzune reluctantly spoke.

“No problem.”

Fu Qian’s curiosity was not satisfied, but he didn’t mind too much.

“Why did you go to see Kisaragi Chie?”

Although Fu Qian was cooperative, Suzune dared not let her guard down.

Her experiences dealing with him had taught her never to take him lightly.

“To find Kagetsu Kana.”

“…You’re quite honest.”

Lego, who was initially watching from the sidelines, couldn’t hold back.

“So why did you want to find Kagetsu Kana? Don’t try to fob me off with reasons like she looked appealing.”

“Of course not.”

Fu Qian smiled.

“She has a special charm that makes one unconsciously want to get closer.”

That was an utterly honest statement.

“I thought you were not going to lie.”

Suzune huffed, not quite convinced by his answer.

She had dealt with these two eccentrics enough to sense certain vibes, clearly seeing that it was Kagetsu Kana who was more interested in him.

And over time, she had realized that this man was extremely cunning and would never act against Kagetsu Kana in her presence, putting himself at risk.

That’s why his initiative to seek out Kagetsu Kana was suspicious.

“Curiosity and affection are two different things.”

“I have a special observational skill towards humans due to some special reasons.”

Fu Qian pointed at his own eyes.

“In my eyes, Kagetsu Kana is undoubtedly a special individual.”

“For example, steaks have their characteristics — tender, firm, juicy. However, one day, you come across one that looks perfect but smells like feces. Even if you don’t eat it, you’d definitely be curious to find out why.”

This analogy is …

Fu Qian’s peculiar phrasing left Suzune and her superior with stiff expressions.

“Moreover, I think you came today to inquire about Kagetsu Kana, have we gone off-topic?”

…

“So in your view, does Takagi’s death have a direct connection with Kagetsu Kana’s transcendent abilities?”

Faced with Fu Qian’s reasonable reminder, Lego finally decided to speak directly.

“From the way you were asking earlier, it seems you lean towards a connection?”

“Are you trying to confirm if I was also influenced by Kagetsu Kana’s abilities and attracted to her, thus proving she uses her abilities to kill?”

Fu Qian frowned.

“That’s not good; it’s very unprofessional for law enforcers to presuppose a stance. You all need to enhance your studies.”

“Answer my question.”

Fu Qian’s mockery was no doubt masterful, Lego, not intending to spar, bluntly used an imperative.

“The last time I saw Kagetsu Kana, she was still a normal person with outstanding charisma, but definitely normal, of course, this judgment is based on my observation and might not be professional.”

Fu Qian recalled seriously.

“And when we found her in the basement, she was tied up, clearly a victim.”

“If you ask me, it’s simple. Takagi’s death was to gain Kagetsu Kana’s approval, and it’s definitely related to her, but she exists as a victim here.”

“From Kagetsu Kana’s behavior, she indeed became a transcendent after Takagi’s death, something you should have confirmed with Lady Suzune.”

“All things considered, it seems this matter should be handed over to the police.”

…

“How can the police handle a Seventh Phase Transcendent?”

Although left speechless by Fu Qian’s words, Suzune still slammed the table in response to this unreliable suggestion.

“That’s a problem with your system design.”

Fu Qian said without any burden of conscience.

“Since I am also a beneficiary, I won’t make any suggestions.”

“Speaking of which, since I’ve been cooperative, can you satisfy my curiosity? What exactly happened?”

…

Suzune glanced at Lego, who gave no response.

“Kagetsu Kana is still at the base…”

Hmm, so it’s related to that person?

Fu Qian’s curiosity intensified.

“It caused quite a bit of trouble.”

Trouble?

Fu Qian thought briefly.

“Too charming, shining brightly?”

“That’s one way to put it. There are already Night Watchmen who clashed with colleagues after interacting with her, and others who have become noticeably paranoid. The effect is so strong that it far exceeds her ranking.”

Lego took over, seeming not to mind exposing their issues.

“We spent quite an effort settling the mess, then kept her isolated; there are still colleagues undergoing psychological treatment.”

“Then considering how much trouble this is, why not fabricate some charges and deal with her for good?”

Fu Qian naturally continued, tsk-tsking.

“You all have an issue with your attitude towards law enforcement.”

“Sometimes pragmatic solutions are necessary, especially since we can’t rule out the possibility that Kagetsu Kana is hiding her abilities. Plus, even if she’s unaware, she could still accidentally harm others.”

Lego surprisingly didn’t deny Fu Qian’s accusations.

“That’s not good; rules are rules, what if one day I’m dealt with pragmatically too?”

Fu Qian shook his head repeatedly.

“And a transcendent who’s unaware can inadvertently cause manslaughter, shouldn’t that be the responsibility of the Night Watchmen?”

“Of course, I’m just providing advice, the specifics are up to you, so is there any other news?”

…

“How do you know there’s more news?”

The two Night Watchmen, provoked by Fu Qian’s words, looked perplexed.

“Just asking, you both seem a bit lost, as if a single case wouldn’t shake you to this extent.”

Fu Qian casually said.

“So there really is something? Is it a secret I’m allowed to know?”

“This really isn’t much related to you, but there’s no need to keep it secret.”

This time, Suzune didn’t consult Lego before speaking.

“Siren and Yasui had another conflict at sea.”

Oh?

“Then Siren lost a Demigod, along with nearly a whole ship’s crew.”

“The fall of a Demigod is indeed a major event, but Yasui also lost a ship before, isn’t this back-and-forth what you want to see?”

“The loss happened because that Demigod suddenly betrayed and attacked their own team…”

Suzune said, almost word by word.

“…What was the Demigod’s name?”

“Sybil.”
