Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 659: 657 Chapter Old Road (17)_1 Chapter 659: 657 Chapter Old Road (17)_1 “Get out.”

Fran, holding onto the car door, looked at Lei with an unprecedented determination in her tone.

“What do you mean?”

Lei was not one to be so easily spoken to and immediately asked with a cold face.

“This is Kateman’s car, and I don’t know what secrets you two have between you, but I won’t give up on Jessica that easily.”

“Now, I will take his car and go back up the mountain… You either come with me, or you get out of the car.”

…

Unexpectedly, Fran suddenly showed such courage. Center of attention, Lei thought for a moment and finally got out of the car and walked to one side.

“As you wish.”

It was clear that he really did not want to go back.

“Do you know how to drive?”

Fran, having successfully commandeered the vehicle, was pressing the car door but turned to look back at Fu Qian.

“You don’t know how to drive?”

Fu Qian asked in complete surprise.

“No.”

You don’t know and yet you act as if you do!

Looking at this courageous girl, Fu Qian shook his head.

“Could I ask you to take me up there? I want to search for Jessica one last time, otherwise, I’ll never be at peace.”

Fran asked with a pleading expression.

“I know these series of events can be frightening, but it’s okay, you don’t have to go inside later, just wait for me outside.”

“No matter the outcome, we will both return before dark.”

Listening to her seemed reasonable.

Fu Qian glanced at Lei nearby, who was wearing an expression as if he were watching a good show.

“Okay.”

“Thank you!”

Seeing that Fu Qian had agreed, Fran immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Clearly, making this decision was not easy for her as well.

No need to thank me, because even if you didn’t go, I would have gone again.

Fu Qian thought to himself.

It was the truth. Fu Qian felt that even if the “Mysterious Killer” really was his target, Laxik, he didn’t believe that walking into a trap would actually happen.

Keeping an eye on Lei was not very meaningful.

And currently, many things seemed to be somewhat related to the ancestral home on the mountain. Even if it wasn’t to look for someone, it was completely worth exploring again.

However, Fran’s initiative to propose going back was somewhat surprising to Fu Qian.

It could only be said that at a critical moment, this girl had more courage than the others.

It was evident that Jones was also somewhat surprised, but undoubtedly, with no clues at the moment, having someone willing to take the initiative to help with the search was not a bad thing for him, so in the end, he refrained from giving any opinion.

…

Having already traveled the mountain road more than once, it didn’t take long for the two of them to reappear at the ancient manor.

This decaying behemoth lay sprawling halfway up the mountain; looking at it at this moment, it felt exceptionally oppressive.

“Please wait outside for me for a while.”

Fran seemed very nervous, but in the end, she set her jaw and spoke.

“If it gets dark and I haven’t come out… you can go back first and also, please call the police for me…”

This tone was like making final arrangements!

Fu Qian commented silently, without any intention to ridicule and simply got out of the car.

“Let’s go in together.”

“Really? That’s great!”

Fran’s eyes lit up instantly.

Over the past few days, Fu Qian had undoubtedly given her a very reliable impression.

“Jessica—”

The same scene from when the four people left it greeted them inside the building, and almost as soon as she entered, Fran attempted to call out.

She could no longer care what she might disturb at this point.

Regrettably, even though she chose such an unrestrained way to search for others, her repeated shouts still received no response.

Even after searching the last area through the other corridor, from top to bottom, she found nothing but increased decay and dilapidation.

“It seems Jessica really isn’t here.”

Having made her way back to the starting point, Fran looked at the corridor she had cleaned and accepted reality amidst her feelings of helplessness.

“Shall we go back?”

However, this time her suggestion was met with no response.

The next moment, puzzled, she looked up and saw Fu Qian moving a picture frame on the wall with an expressionless face.

“What’s wrong?”

Fran couldn’t help but ask.

“The painting is pretty good, planning to take it down and bring it back.”

The painting is pretty good?

Looking at the content that was so moldy it was completely indecipherable, Fran was momentarily at a loss for words.

But in the next moment, the scene revealed after the picture frame was taken down made her heart skip a beat.

“This is… my name?”

Engraved on the wall beneath the picture frame were some marks, and after making out the content, she felt her understanding of reality being challenged.

Why would her name be down here?

“It seems so, and the marks look quite fresh.”

Fu Qian appeared thoughtful.

“I just took a look around and noticed that this painting seemed to have been moved. Could it be a marking you made?”

“How could it be! Even if I needed to differentiate the rooms, I wouldn’t specifically write it behind a picture frame, and we each chose our own rooms. It’s not like I can’t remember where I’m staying.”

“Moreover, the most important thing… no one is staying in this room., mine is the next one over…”

Fran gestured to the left.

“Hold on a second.”

The next instant, it seemed as if she realized something.

“Could this be something the Mysterious Killer left behind? He’d been watching us all along, even marking the rooms to make moving around easier, only he got this one wrong.”

By the end of her speech, Fran was covered in chills.

He’d been watching all along?

Listeing to Fran’s words, Fu Qian appeared pensive, recalling everything that had happened from yesterday until now.

And from yesterday until now, all sorts of strange events indeed seemed to prove that there was a Mysterious Killer at work behind the scenes.

Only this killer was unbelievably strong, as if he had God’s perspective, familiar with all places and always managing to cleverly avoid everyone else, especially himself.

He’d even marked the members of this vacationing group well in advance.

Wasn’t this a bit too superhuman?

“Come with me.”

The next moment, Fu Qian shouted and, without waiting for Fran’s response, headed off in one direction.

“What’s wrong? Is there something down there?”

Realizing that Fu Qian was heading toward the basement, Fran, despite being shocked, unquestionably followed right behind him, eventually arriving at the room where the Iron Maiden was stored.

However, the room wasn’t large and could be taken in at a glance; there was no sign of anyone else there.

But Fu Qian, who had entered the room first, now stood in front of the open Iron Maiden, deep in thought.

“What in the world is going on?”

Fran couldn’t help but step forward, asking as she looked inside.

To her surprise, she was suddenly choked by a tremendous force.

The next moment, the dreadful spikes before her eyes loomed larger, and she was involuntarily pushed into the terrifying device.

Amidst her screams and frantic attempts to dodge, her face was narrowly spared from being pierced by the spikes.

Then, the heavy sound of metal scraping filled her ears, and everything in front of her went dark.

Fran’s body instantly dared not move an inch.

“You—”

She attempted to speak but was cut off as Fu Qian’s emotionless voice came from outside.

“Sorry, after unanimous agreement by the jury, you are sentenced to—death!”
