Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 651: Chapter 649 Old Path (Nine)_1 Chapter 651: Chapter 649 Old Path (Nine)_1 Compared to before, Fran undoubtedly looked quite uneasy and even unconsciously glanced around while talking, as if she feared being overheard.

Jessica.

An image of another female classmate emerged in Fu Qian’s mind.

Is this really following the horror movie rule? The blonde girl must be in trouble?

“Come in and talk.”

Seeing Fran’s panicked expression, Fu Qian stepped aside to let her in.

Fran didn’t hold back and directly squeezed into the room.

“What exactly happened?”

Fu Qian closed the door and even thoughtfully shut the windows as well.

Phew!

This action successfully made Fran relax a bit, allowing her to answer Fu Qian’s question at a faster pace.

“Just now, I felt a bit uneasy because of what happened today, so I wanted to talk to Jessica.”

“But when I went to her room, I found the door was open and she wasn’t inside.”

“Both she and Kateman are missing?”

Fu Qian knew that the two lived together.

“Yes, no one was in the room.”

“Could it be that the two of them went out together?”

“Impossible! Not to mention the car is still in the yard, since I’ve come back I’ve been watching outside the whole time to make sure that no one left.”

“I see, that does seem a bit strange.”

“But this in itself doesn’t seem to explain anything, and since it’s both of them who are gone, why do you emphasize so much on Jessica’s disappearance?”

“Because her things are also gone.”

Fran’s tone was unusually serious.

“I looked carefully; her luggage is still there, but all kinds of personal items that belong to Jessica are missing, and I can’t get in touch with her either.”

Although this sister is a bit slow to react, her thinking is still meticulous.

“And then you came to me?”

“Yes.”

Fran understood the meaning behind Fu Qian’s words and responded.

“I hadn’t realized before, but now that I think about it, Lei and Kateman seem a bit odd, and I didn’t really want to go to them.”

“Understood.”

Fu Qian nodded, making no comment.

“Anyway, I’m getting an increasingly bad feeling about this place, also considering Mrs. Harrold who has disappeared… Do you think there’s a connection? Should we notify Chief Jones?”

Having found a like-minded person in her recognition, Fran’s mood became significantly calmer and her speech sped up as her thoughts became more active.

I certainly don’t mind that.

Fu Qian thought to herself upon hearing Fran’s suggestion.

For a very legitimate reason to reconnect with the police, even if Jessica didn’t really disappear, it’s very likely everyone would have to move downstairs to live, allowing us to naturally observe Chief Jones’s investigation results.

However, not everyone might think this way.

Despite the increasingly strange events, Fu Qian didn’t believe that Kateman and his companions were as pure as white lotuses.

During their outing, it was probable they encountered something.

But now with Mrs. Harrold missing, no matter what, they would firmly stick to their previous stance, not admitting to anything.

At the same time, they definitely wouldn’t want too much interaction with the police.

“A reasonable choice, but if possible, finding Kateman to confirm would be best.”

Fu Qian replied while rising to her feet and walked towards the door under Fran’s puzzled gaze.

Click!

A second later, Fu Qian pulled the door open again.

Almost instantly, two figures outside snapped to attention.

Looking up, it turned out to be Lei and Kateman.

“`

In complete silence, the two of them had actually made their way to the outside of the door.

The sudden opening of the door by Fu Qian clearly caught them off guard.

“You—”

The surprise on Fu Qian’s face was so natural.

“Fran and I were just about to come and find you.”

As an ordinary person, Fu Qian’s hearing wasn’t actually good enough to confirm that there were two people hiding outside the door.

But for someone on a professional task, some things are basic operations.

In Fu Qian’s view, if he and Fran had decided to go find Jones, it would undoubtedly be bad news for Lei and Kateman.

When something isn’t good news, it’s best to anticipate the possible actions of the victims.

…

Lei and Kateman could not confirm whether Fu Qian had intentionally opened the door or not.

After a brief hesitation, they quickly convinced themselves to accept the explanation that “he was about to come and find them, and just happened to open the door and bump into them.”

“We were just about to come and find you too.”

The two exchanged glances, and in the end, it was Kateman who spoke up, explaining why they were outside.

“Oh? What’s the matter?”

Fu Qian picked up the conversation naturally, letting the other party speak first.

“…Jessica is missing.”

Unaware that the conversation had unknowingly been led by Fu Qian, Kateman continued to respond.

“It seems she really is missing.”

Fu Qian’s expression didn’t change, and he turned to look at Fran inside the room.

Just now, her body had almost instantly stiffened.

With Kateman right outside the door, not even knowing when they had arrived or whether they had heard her talking, her mind was spinning with these thoughts.

The eerie disappearance, the old building, the strangely behaving companions—all of it successfully ignited the fear in the depths of her heart.

However, Fu Qian’s smooth handling of the situation still made her somewhat relaxed.

“Good to know that Fran is here.”

It was then that Lei looked in and also seemed relieved.

“Just now, when we found out that Jessica was missing, we went to see Fran, and for a moment, we thought she was missing too.”

“When did you realize it?”

Fu Qian asked without any hint of suspicion, continuing the conversation.

“Just a short while ago. When I went back to my room, I found Jessica was nowhere to be found. At first, I thought she went to chat with Fran… Then I realized something was wrong,” Kateman answered.

“Because her personal belongings were also missing? I heard about it.”

“I just had a word with Fran, and we were about to go find you to discuss whether to notify Chief Jones.”

“After all, things do seem a bit odd now, don’t you think?”

…

The two outside hesitated briefly.

“One thing we can confirm is that Jessica didn’t leave through the main entrance. Given the size of this place and areas we haven’t visited before, should we search first, in case she just got lost?”

“After all, even if Chief Jones and his team arrive, it will take some time, and if it takes too long, Jessica might get scared being alone.”

Lei then made the suggestion.

“Sure!”

Fu Qian didn’t even consult Fran but immediately expressed his agreement.

No matter how genuine the concern in his tone was, the suggestion itself wasn’t problematic.

As for this place, he was equally curious.

On the other hand, given the current eerie circumstances, Fu Qian couldn’t ensure that insisting on going directly to the Chief wouldn’t lead to conflict.

Even if he took advantage of the situation to take down the two, given Jones’s ambiguous attitude, his own freedom of action afterwards might also be affected.

“So, where do we start?”
