Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 228: Chapter 227: Worm of Erosion (17)_1

Qiu Chengyi!

When this name came out of Fu Qian’s mouth, Liang Yuntian’s gaze suddenly turned fierce and bloodthirsty, staring fixedly at Fu Qian’s face.

Yet Fu Qian showed no signs of distress, continuing to frown with an expression of concern for his classmate’s health.

Fu Qian had already formed a rough guess as to why Liang Yuntian would be here impersonating an on-duty doctor.

It’s likely that after eating the two-person monster, he was unable to find Liu Yi and then made the bizarre decision to wait here like waiting for a rabbit, hoping that other “Blessed Ones” would do as Han Jin did and deliver themselves to his doorstep.

That’s why Fu Qian deliberately used the name on the library card to test the waters.

...
“Oh, where is he now?”

After a long pause, Liang Yuntian finally spoke, his voice strained but trying to sound normal.

“He was still in the dorm when I came.”

“The dorm?”

A savage smile appeared on Liang Yuntian’s face, and his murderous intent grew more intense.

“Are you really sure… he’s in the dorm?”

“Of course.”

Fu Qian nodded, his face full of mystery.

“Previously, those two-legged rats were everywhere, and Qiu Chengyi was bitten by one of them, so he’s been lying in bed ever since.”

“Moreover, those rats seem poisonous, he had a severe reaction; not only did a shell form all over his body, but he also grew many spines.”

As he spoke, Fu Qian placed his right hand on the table to make it clear for Liang Yuntian to see.

“I got stabbed once, and my arm turned into this.”

The moment Fu Qian’s arm was revealed, Liang Yuntian clearly had a big reaction, and a meaningless gurgling sound could even be heard from his throat.

Unperturbed, Fu Qian continued as his sharp nails scratched the table a few times, carving out the name Qiu Chengyi.

Liang Yuntian, who had been watching him intently, was predictably drawn to this action, his gaze fixated on the name on the table.

After a long while, Liang Yuntian shook his head.

“Got it, I’ll go right away.”

“That’s great! I’ll wait for you outside.”

Fu Qian stood up naturally, opened the door under Liang Yuntian’s watchful eye, and even remembered to take the medical records with him.

…

“That was close! How did you know that Qiu Chengyi wasn’t the one he had first eaten?”

Upon leaving the infirmary, Fu Qian didn’t wait outside as he had previously said but chose to leave straight away.

It wasn’t until he had walked some distance that the Interlocutor spoke again.

“I didn’t know; I guessed.”

“…You really dared to guess!”

Although the Interlocutor had somewhat understood Fu Qian’s style, he was still shocked to have it confirmed by Fu Qian himself.

“Even though he’s not interested in you because you don’t have the blessing, he probably wouldn’t mind killing someone.”

“If Qiu Chengyi had been the one he ate first and he realized you were deceiving him, you’d likely be dead.”

“So what if I were dead.”

Fu Qian seemed unconcerned, flipping through the medical records as he walked.

“The odds are less than half; it’s acceptable.”

“Not to mention that the person he ate might not have been the library card borrower.”

“Even if it was, there were three names in total. Excluding this Han Le leaves two, it’s just a choice between two.”

“So overall, the theoretical probability is definitely less than 50%, which made it worth a try.”

Fu Qian spread his hand open to reveal the Worm Whistle given to him by Liu Yi.

“If I really had bad luck, I could still use this thing to buy some time to escape; there might be a chance.”

“Now, given that the gamble paid off, the payoff is significant; I’ve just gained a powerful striker who is far more familiar with this than we are.”

“Otherwise, just with a name, when would we find it—next year, the year after?”

“Why do I feel like the odds of death are much higher than fifty percent?”

The Interlocutor, however, was not quite convinced.

“Even if you didn’t get your name wrong and knew approximately where to find him, he would have no problem going there himself to find the person. What makes you so sure he wouldn’t just kill you on the spot?”

“If he was willing to let me go, there must be a reason for it,”

Fu Qian replied casually, continuing to flip through the medical record in his hand.

“…Hmm, it seems to be discomfort in the head, severe headaches accompanied by nausea and vomiting… nosebleeds, it appears this pest is rather violent…”

While talking, Fu Qian pulled something out from the folder of the medical record.

It was a white strip, segmented into three parts and it wriggled back and forth in his hand, resembling a live worm.

“What is that?”

The Interlocutor was visibly surprised.

“The reason.”

“Although Liang Yuntian’s brain isn’t functioning too well, when it comes to eating, he’s still quite sharp.”

“To kill or not to kill me was a matter of a single thought for him, but it would be ideal if I could honestly lead the way.”

“When Liang Yuntian handed me the medical record just now, he slipped this in as well. I guess he can track me through this thing.”

“If I were to leave with the medical record, it would serve as a guide that he could lock onto at any time, which is certainly more valuable than a dead body.”

“So, if I hadn’t taken out the medical record just now, that would have truly been the end of me.”

Click!

The worm suddenly started to struggle violently as if sensing danger.

Unfortunately, it only managed to struggle halfway before Fu Qian crushed it outright.

At the same time, Fu Qian abruptly sped up his pace.

“I would bet that he’s already on the move by now.”

After running some distance, Fu Qian slowed down his steps and hid in a concealed spot.

Not even half a minute later, a figure rushed by, his white coat stained red under the moonlight, ghostlike.

The speed difference was considerable. If he had kept running, Liang Yuntian would certainly have caught up with him.

After lingering for a moment in the vicinity, the quickly arriving Liang Yuntian gave up searching for Fu Qian and dashed off to the dormitories without a word.

…

“Follow him?”

Once Liang Yuntian was gone, the Interlocutor couldn’t help but speak up.

“No rush, let’s wait a little longer,”

Fu Qian was very capable of keeping his composure.

His task was to break the Nightmare, and Liang Yuntian finding the child before him would only be beneficial.

Given Liang Yuntian’s current behavior, there was no need to worry about them forming an alliance; it was more likely that he would simply act brashly.

It would be best if Liang Yuntian ended up killing the child himsef, letting Fu Qian clear the level without effort.

By staying here a little longer, if Liang Yuntian indeed came up empty-handed, he would surely come out quickly.

That would save Fu Qian the trouble.

So he waited for a while, and seeing no sign of Liang Yuntian returning, Fu Qian finally set off.

He had previously examined the map and memorized the locations of several student apartments on campus.

Liang Yuntian undoubtedly knew which apartment held the Two-Legged Rat; by comparing the direction he had run off to, it would be easy to pinpoint the location.

Before long, Fu Qian arrived at his destination.

The student apartment at this moment, though not littered with Two-Legged Rats, was still enveloped in an indescribable atmosphere, filled with a quiet that should not exist at this time.

Without rushing in, Fu Qian pushed open the door of the nearby duty room, which was also empty.

He dragged over a chair to sit, enjoying the rare ambience.

About half an hour passed with no sign of an empty-handed, furious Liang Yuntian emerging.

It seemed that he must have made some gains.

Fu Qian pushed himself up from his seat, ready to take action.
