Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 199: Chapter 198: Porcelain Doll (16)_1

Standing at the center of the spiral wall, Fu Qian realized a serious problem.

He now found these things much more pleasing to the eye.

Even the originally uncomfortable unevenness now seemed to possess a mysterious sense of order.

This was surely more than just mental contamination.

Suppressing the emerging murderous desire within his heart, Fu Qian realized this change was due to his integration with that thing.

...
It made sense, after all, in some way, he was the very source of distortion, finding kindred things familiar was only natural.

As the saying goes, ever since he became mentally disturbed, everything looked just fine.

Controlling himself not to indulge in that destructive desire, Fu Qian walked over to the white tree.

Next, he still had to find the Frenzied Spirit, although he was not certain.

But anyhow, it seemed to be the likeliest target for the task at hand.

Considering that there was no longer any need to suppress his strength, tracking and locking on was now much simpler.

Glancing around, Fu Qian’s gaze sharpened the next moment—the three guards around the island were now reduced to two, and all had turned into corpses.

And while the area was already eerily quiet, there was now an added air of stern murder.

This was a bit strange!

Looking at the sky, he hadn’t stayed inside for an especially long time.

Logically, even if a fight had broken out between the two, it shouldn’t have spilled over to this place so quickly.

Fu Qian felt puzzled and with a light leap, he landed beside one of the corpses.

It had to be said, the physical strength of this form was truly formidable, it would have been a nice option if not for its effect on the mind.

Crouching down for a look, there was a round hole piercing through the chest of the corpse with the edges of the bones melted neatly.

Frenzied Spirit?

This type of wound was just too iconic!

Unexpectedly, it had come this way during this period.

If he had just waited here, might he have met it directly?

Fu Qian thought subconsciously.

But no matter, the wound was still fresh; it likely hadn’t gone far, so pursuing it wouldn’t be too difficult.

Just as he was thinking this, a peculiar noise came from the distance.

Fu Qian looked up to see several bursts of gloomy green fireballs exploding one after another, with swathes of trees silently collapsing.

This really wasn’t going to be too difficult.

Fu Qian stood up and without hesitation ran towards the direction of the explosions.

With a few effortless leaps, Fu Qian closed in on the target.

Indeed, he was not wrong; the one rapidly fleeing ahead was none other than the Frenzied Spirit.

Following it, two Porcelain Dolls leapt high, each brandishing an arm that conjured a green flame spear, and hurled them viciously at the Frenzied Spirit.

Further back was the bell-ringer from the pilgrimage group at the front, along with two others.

Is that all there is?

Witnessing this scene, Fu Qian nearly guessed what had happened.

Most likely, these natives had ventured out en masse for revenge, only for the Frenzied Spirit to seize the opportunity and go on a killing spree amidst their vulnerability.

After slaying several people, the Priest, resembling a bell-ringer, had to lead people to deal with it.

At this moment, green flame spears flew in from both sides, whistling through the air, but the Frenzied Spirit, as if having eyes on its back, suddenly changed direction mid-motion, evading the attack once again.

The green flame spears exploded into fireballs once more, the flames appearing to carry a highly corrosive effect, instantly eroding a large area around them.

“It’s growing a bit fast, isn’t it? Last time I saw it, it wasn’t this agile.”

Just as the Frenzied Spirit was about to escape, a gray curtain suddenly rose in mid-air, blocking its path.

Using the diversion created by the Frenzied Spirit’s evasion, the bell-toting Priest finally caught up, commanding another White Spirit to join the battle.

The Frenzied Spirit seemed to be extremely wary of that curtain, changing direction to try and escape from another side.

Unfortunately, another curtain rose in the direction it chose, blocking its way again.

Without hesitation, it changed direction once more, then was blocked again.

Within a matter of seconds, a semi-transparent, gem-shaped cage formed, firmly trapping the Frenzied Spirit inside.

Almost simultaneously, the Frenzied Spirit’s speed visibly slowed down, as if stuck in an invisible quagmire.

…

The Frenzied Spirit, with no avenue of escape, abruptly turned to face the Priest, and although it made no sound, one could feel its rage.

However, no one paid any attention to its emotions. The Priest and the Porcelain Doll before him joined hands together, and in the next moment, the size of the cage rapidly shrank.

At the same time, two other Porcelain Dolls had caught up, once again conjuring green flame spears in their hands and hurling them at the trapped Frenzied Spirit.

Just as it was about to be hit, the nearly immobile creature’s body flickered with strange colors, and it somehow managed to dodge a small distance to the side, narrowly avoiding the strike.

“Got a new Skill? It didn’t use that move when it was whipped last time.”

“There’s also bloodsucking, visual misdirection… This doll’s skills are quite varied!”

Fu Qian watched quietly from the side, nodding to himself.

It made sense that the other White Spirits could develop abilities, as it, being a special entity, might have a few more, which was also understandable.

Despite barely dodging the attacks, the Frenzied Spirit was clearly in a desperate situation.

The green flame spears in the hands of the two Porcelain Dolls had already reformed, and in just that brief moment, the gray cage had shrunk by half.

As the two green flame spears were about to be thrown again,

At the moment of despair, a figure suddenly appeared at the edge of the Frenzied Spirit’s cage, a person entirely shrouded in a heavy gray cloak.

“Mr. Luo?”

Fu Qian immediately recognized the newcomer.

“There definitely is something odd about this guy. Everyone’s probably fighting furiously outside, and he runs in here alone at this time?”

The appearance of Mr. Luo clearly made the natives very tense.

With several angry roars, the flame spears in the Porcelain Dolls’ hands switched direction, aiming at him from a distance.

Mr. Luo, however, was completely unconcerned, his right hand unimpeded as he reached into the cage and grabbed the still-struggling Frenzied Spirit.

At the same time, he waved his left hand, and the two green flame spears, before they could be thrown, silently exploded.

The ghostly green fireballs instantly enveloped the Porcelain Dolls that had conjured them, causing the two individuals beside the Priest to shudder and nearly collapse.

Once the flames dissipated, cracks had appeared all over the bodies of the Porcelain Dolls.

The next moment, Mr. Luo dragged the Frenzied Spirit out of the cage and stepped forward to the two Porcelain Dolls, catching them all in his hands.

Crack!

Amidst the crisp sound, the two fiercely struggling Porcelain Dolls shattered simultaneously.

Not far away, their owner also fell to the ground, their life essence quickly fading away.

“Who are you… Why are you doing this?”

The lone Priest, left without companions, dispelled the now-empty cage, his voice hoarse as he asked.

“You may call me Mr. Luo. As for the reason…”

Mr. Luo didn’t look at him but pulled out a Puppet Fragment from his palm and placed it beside the mouth of the Frenzied Spirit.

“I’m here for it. Sorry, but I can’t let you break it.”
