Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 156: Chapter 155: Sword Heart’s Legacy (Part 2)_1

Instructor card?

Facing the middle-aged man’s interrogation, Fu Qian was also puzzled in his heart.

Was his identity not that of a student, but an instructor this time?

That was indeed unexpected.

However, it wasn’t a bad thing; an instructor’s identity clearly allowed for more freedom of action compared to a student.

“Let’s go outside first.”

...
Seeing that quite a few students were looking over with confusion, the middle-aged man realized their conversation had already caused some disturbance and gestured for Fu Qian to follow him out.

They made their way to the entrance, where the middle-aged man’s gaze turned stern, signaling Fu Qian to wait in place.

Then he took Fu Qian’s card and swiped it on a device nearby.

“Fu Qian?”

Half a minute later, as the middle-aged man looked at the information displayed, he sized Fu Qian up and down, his expression complex.

“That’s right, it’s me.”

It seemed he hadn’t changed his name this time.

Fu Qian, in his position, could also see the content on the display screen, confirming that not only his name but also his photograph matched.

“…To actually be an instructor from Heaven’s Commencement Institute… Aren’t you too young for that!”

The middle-aged man murmured to himself, somewhat incredulous at what he was seeing.

The next moment, he seemed to suddenly think of something, and his face showed an even deeper disdain than before.

“Sorry, although you are an instructor of Heaven’s Commencement Institute, breaking into the Sword Pavilion without permission has violated the rules. I need to report this to the Academy and take disciplinary action against you.”

Holding Fu Qian’s identity card firmly, he said this curtly.

What’s with that look as if you’ve just found your father’s killer all of a sudden?

Fu Qian couldn’t understand the middle-aged man’s sudden change in emotion, but he immediately denied the accusation of unauthorized entry.

“I didn’t break in without permission. Think back, you were the one who invited me in.”

That seemed to be true…

The middle-aged man froze again, recalling the earlier scene.

It indeed appeared to be him who had let Fu Qian in without checking his identification.

Strictly speaking, this was indeed his own dereliction of duty.

But who would have thought that an instructor from Heaven’s Commencement Institute would be squatting outside the Sword Pavilion at this time, even wearing the clothes of the Swordsmanship Department?

That’s right, the clothes!

“Not to mention anything else, the clothes are something you put on yourself, right? Can you deny that you had other intentions?”

“There indeed was a reason.”

Fu Qian replied with a smile, spinning tales.

“Although I don’t study Sword Dao much, with the Sword Pavilion open and many students contemplating, as a researcher of transcendent powers, I am quite interested in this grand event. So, I was just here observing the changes in the students’ auras before and after their contemplation.”

“To not make them feel too out of place, I merely borrowed this outfit.”

You keep blabbering on!

The middle-aged man looked at Fu Qian in disbelief. So you’re here doing research as well?

However, even though this was clearly a nonsensical explanation, he temporarily couldn’t refute it.

“Not right.”

Before the middle-aged man could say anything, Fu Qian frowned and looked at him skeptically.

“You first invited me in… Then you found me to say I broke the rules…

Why do I feel like this smells a bit like entrapment… You didn’t do it on purpose, did you?”

Who do you think you are!

I would purposely let you, just to entrap you, into the Academy’s forbidden grounds?

The middle-aged man nearly spewed blood in Fu Qian’s face.

This guy was shamelessly extreme, just like those lunatics from Heaven’s Commencement Institute.

Nevertheless, considering the situation, he began to have his doubts about whether to continue entangling with Fu Qian.

This guy is obviously a shameless rogue, but when it really comes down to it, I’ve made mistakes too.

After all, I was only in there for a few minutes, so it’s not really a big problem.

“Fu Qian!”

Seeing some effect, Fu Qian was about to apply more pressure when a tall figure approached from the distance, shouting at Fu Qian before even arriving.

“I went to your place and didn’t find you, so I guessed you’d be here!”

The person was a mature, radiant woman with brown hair and blue eyes who spoke to Fu Qian very naturally.

Before she finished speaking, she noticed the card in the middle-aged man’s hand, and then looked at Fu Qian’s attire, a hint of surprise inevitably rising on her face.

“You’re not thinking of going in, are you? This is a forbidden area of the Swordsmanship Department, so don’t be too reckless!”

“Professor Lanaya.”

Seeing the newcomer, the middle-aged man’s expression finally eased a bit, and he greeted the woman.

“How could that be, I was just chatting with this man. He thinks I’m too young and doesn’t believe I’m an instructor here.”

“Here, can you give me back my card now?”

Fu Qian looked at the middle-aged man with a smiling face.

The latter was stunned for a moment, as if engaged in some intense internal struggle.

After a long while, he finally nodded stiffly and handed Fu Qian’s card back to him.

…

“I need to talk to you about something. Let’s walk and talk.”

Although it was clear there were some doubts, with the situation satisfactorily resolved, Professor Lanaya made no further comment and took the lead, walking ahead.

“What’s the matter?”

Following behind Lanaya, Fu Qian asked, while observing the surrounding buildings.

“There’s an urgent task.”

Lanaya didn’t look at him and explained quickly.

“Earlier today, the Yuan Financial Group contacted the Academy; one of their local secret warehouses was robbed, items were lost, and personnel were killed. They hope the Academy will help with the investigation.”

“Shouldn’t this be a case for the Night Watchman?”

Fu Qian was a bit puzzled.

After so many tasks, he had come to understand some of the rules of this world.

To put it simply, all incidents related to Transcendent powers, indiscriminately, call for the Night Watchman.

“Indeed, that should be the case, so I’m also a bit puzzled,” sighed Lanaya.

“But the committee specifically asked me to attend to it, hoping that the Punishment Department would handle it properly. Given that there are few people free right now, I can only trouble you to accompany me.”

As they spoke, Lanaya had already taken Fu Qian into a car, racing towards their destination.

On the road, with indirect probing, Fu Qian had more or less cleared up the current situation.

His identity this time was indeed that of an instructor at the Heaven’s Commencement Institute of the Academy, and he had just joined not long ago.

Though his strength was decent, due to his shallow seniority, he was conventionally part-timing at the Punishment Department.

And this Lanaya was, on one hand, an instructor at the Academy, and on the other, one of the heads of the Punishment Department.

The matter was urgent and no one else was available, so they directly grasped him as their strong man, which could also count as padding his KPI.

…

An hour later, the two arrived at the scene of the incident.

The area was already cordoned off, and practically as soon as they got out of the car, a group of people looked over at them warily.

After Lanaya identified herself, the two were finally allowed to enter the scene, where someone was already waiting.

It was a lean-faced middle-aged man with a straight chin and sharp eyes, who looked quite capable but had a rather unsightly complexion.

The man clearly recognized Lanaya and after greeting her, he sized up Fu Qian from top to bottom.

“Who is this…?”

Fu Qian, an instructor at the Academy.”

Seeing that Lanaya didn’t elaborate, Fu Qian merely nodded slightly, exuding poise.
