Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 300: Secrets and Schemes

From the second squad captainʼs words, Lin Yu couldnʼt help but feel somewhat emotional.

”As expected, the Order people also went to stake out the location.”

Although the things done under the identity of ”Zhu Ming” werenʼt as famous among the general player population as those of ”May May,” they had absolutely attracted attention in high-level player circles.

Just the ”returning from death” aspect alone was enough to draw attention.

Not to mention she had deceived both Order and the Psychological Society, and was now even expelled from the forum while joining the Psychological Society!

Compared to these points, possibly having close connections with people from the Free Alliance probably didnʼt even count as a big deal.

Going to Xia Yueʼs home using the ”May May” identity had indeed fished out quite a lot of useful information.

Of course...

Since it was done intentionally, Lin Yu had naturally made preparations long ago.

Moreover, the fact that the second squad captain asked about it in this setting indicated that this really wasnʼt some serious matter.
Therefore, Lin Yu wasnʼt panicked at all, only speaking after a slight sigh.

”When I met her, neither of us had joined any organizations yet.”

”A life-and-death friendship forged in dungeons... I canʼt be that selfless and noble.”

As Lin Yu spoke, the second squad captain remained silent.

But Tycoon, squatting on the ground, let out a cold laugh.

”Hey, kid... I shouldnʼt really comment on your Order matters as an outsider, but Iʼve never been good at holding back.”

”Captain Good Night lying on that bed was injured by those bastards from the Psychological Society last night! Twelve broken bones throughout his body, multiple soft tissue contusions, and that bastard even kicked him twice down there, almost causing necrosis!”

”You might not be able to be selfless and noble, but if you want to join Order, you should at least be able to distinguish right from wrong, shouldnʼt you?”

Lin Yu understood now.

Tycoon was called here to play the bad cop role.

It had to be said...

Tycoonʼs acting skills remained consistently mediocre.

This Jiangʼan Hall boss, Fourth Tier expert, and powerful player ranked 27th spoke seriously, but didnʼt give Lin Yu much sense of pressure.

Lin Yu looked at Tycoon and responded neither humbly nor arrogantly.

”But that wasnʼt done by Zhu Ming. If I encounter her again in the future, I definitely wonʼt hold back—if sheʼs already committed some heinous acts, Iʼll personally kill her too—and Iʼll cut off all contact and personal connections with her from now on.”

”However, I donʼt see any problem with the friendship between us before that. If we really want to count, your organization also has a mutual friend of ours,” Lin Yu said, then looked back at the three Order captains, ”Furthermore, my visit to her family... has nothing to do with her.”

”Sheʼs already faked her death and cut ties with her family. No matter what you think, I canʼt just abandon that mother and daughter pair.”

As Lin Yu spoke, the hospital room fell completely silent.

Based on everyoneʼs reactions...

Lin Yu also made a judgment.

”It seems Orderʼs surveillance isnʼt that precise after all.”

He had taken the phone from Xia Yang, and had even specifically taken that phone out again downstairs.

Yet the Order people hadnʼt discovered this.

Since they hadnʼt discovered it...

Then this explanation was already sufficient.

After all, he had made contributions during the previous Jiangcheng incident, had High Mountainʼs recommendation, and possibly even Li Huaʼs favor. With just this small amount of suspicion, they couldnʼt really do anything to Lin Yu.

After all...

The player population isnʼt that large, and Orderʼs scale isnʼt small either. If they really investigated all the intricate connections thoroughly, many Order members and even higher-ups might have had one or two not-quite-proper friends.

Just as Lin Yu had anticipated...

Next, Good Night lying on the bed with an IV struggled to turn his head and spoke.

”I believe this young comrade,” he said seriously. ”Our Order is a disciplined organization—we donʼt engage in that random conviction nonsense. So since May has already joined us, I choose to believe him!”

As a candidate for Jiangchengʼs next chief captain, and also currently the most severely injured person in the room, even though Tycoonʼs status was somewhat higher than Good Nightʼs, Good Night speaking up now carried a certain decisive weight.

Lin Yu also nodded.

”Thank you for your trust, Captain Good Night. I will definitely live up to your expectations—I joined at a rather special time, and while youʼre hospitalized, Iʼll also stay vigilant and focused.”

He spoke seriously, and Good Night laboriously waved his heavily bandaged hand.

”Ah shit, I wanted to say this earlier—can we stop mentioning me getting beaten up? Itʼs so damn embarrassing,” Good Night sighed. ”Iʼm too weak, brothers, Iʼm just too weak!”

The second and third squad captains both looked at Good Night.

”Please donʼt say that—if it were us, weʼd be dead already.”

”Yeah, being able to survive against that crazy woman from the Psychological Society, youʼve already done your best!”

Good Night sighed again: ”Forget it, it was purely because she didnʼt want to kill me and you guys arrived quickly... Luckily it happened in Jiangcheng.”

Hearing Good Nightʼs words, Lin Yuʼs mind stirred.

”Why do you say ʼluckily it happened in Jiangchengʼ?”

Sure enough...

Good Night subconsciously showed a somewhat guilty expression, and although he immediately spoke up after just a moment, Lin Yu still caught the slip.

”Ah, isnʼt it because Jiangcheng has Tycoon!”

”Ranked 27th on the leaderboard, lots of money, righteous, strong—who wouldnʼt say heʼs amazing!”

Tycoon immediately chimed in: ”Ahahaha, brother, youʼre making me embarrassed saying that!”

Lin Yu watched the two of them performing this back-and-forth, but his expression grew serious.

”Thatʼs not right.”

Order was a reasonable organization, but precisely because Order was reasonable, Lin Yu knew he could use this organizationʼs proper ways to apply appropriate ”pressure.”

”I donʼt know how the organization evaluates me, but I consider one of my strengths to be sharp perception... Captain High Mountain from Zheng City should be aware of this.”

”So... you two seem to be hiding something.”

”Iʼm already an official member of the organization. What exactly is being kept from me about this city?”

As Lin Yu spoke, Good Night and Tycoon looked at each other.

Then, Good Night sighed and struggled to sit up from the bed.

”Shit, the report did mention that one of your strengths is being very smart, but no one fucking told me you were this smart—Jiangcheng is indeed a special city, even more special than Haicheng or Yanjing—for Players, this is pretty much the most important city.”

”Because this is where the forum is located... In other words, Order, which has deep cooperative relations with the forum, has control over this city that canʼt be matched by any other city.”

”Most regular members donʼt know this, but since there are important figures in the organization who think highly of you, it should be fine for me to tell you in advance.”

”In the plans of the General and the Secretary, Jiangcheng is destined to become the central city for the entire Player community in the future!”
