Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 296: Welcome to the Psychology Society—You’re Officially In!

”So, welcome ʼZhu Mingʼ to join us and take up the position of Vice President in Jiangcheng.”

At Hua Yu Cafe, Lin Yu looked at the ordinary-looking slightly chubby young man across from him and took a sip of coffee.

”You must be the branch president of the ʼPsychological Societyʼ in Jiangcheng, I presume.”

The slightly chubby young man smiled helplessly: ”Branch president is really a joke, just call me ʼEdwin,ʼ thatʼs my code name within the organization. The entire Jiangcheng branch of the ʼPsychological Societyʼ has only me as a member, and somehow I ended up as the branch president... I just got promoted to ʼSecond Tierʼ last week!”

Lin Yu raised an eyebrow upon hearing this: ”What a coincidence, I just got promoted to ʼFirst Tierʼ last week. So not only does the Jiangcheng branch have just the two of us, but weʼre both ʼFirst Tierʼ.”

He said this half-jokingly.

Edwin let out a sigh: ”First Tier is a good thing, having a high rank in Jiangcheng isnʼt really a good thing... this place is really strange for us.”

”Even the ʼMaraudersʼ have to keep their heads down in Jiangcheng - and even then, their headquarters got smashed up recently!”

”Your recommender is ʼFluoxetine,ʼ right? You should have known how powerful ʼFluoxetineʼ is before joining the organization... even she doesnʼt dare act too arrogantly in Jiangcheng, she keeps a low profile!”

Edwin said seriously.
Lin Yu recalled Fluoxetineʼs actions in Jiangcheng and didnʼt feel she had been low-profile at all.

Seemingly noticing Lin Yuʼs doubt, Edwin added.

”Of course, Specialist Fluoxetineʼs personality has always made it difficult for her to keep a low profile, what sheʼs doing now is already her trying her best...”

”And itʼs not like she didnʼt pay a price - she almost got killed last night and is currently recuperating from quite serious injuries. Otherwise, she would have been here today.”

Lin Yu was slightly surprised.

Injured? Recuperating?

Wasnʼt she fine when she left yesterday?

Did she get hurt from jumping off the building?

No...

Could it be that his command for Stiller to stab her in the back was more effective than expected?

Was ʼFluoxetineʼsʼ injury more severe than his own?

Lin Yu remembered that before going home last night, he had used the ʼDoctorʼs ability to treat the axe wound on his shoulder, and it was almost not fully healed.

Just as Lin Yu was lost in thought, Edwinʼs next words cleared up Lin Yuʼs confusion.

”Not sure what happened, but late last night, she actually encountered Tycoon... and it seems she didnʼt choose to avoid the fight initially, instead taking Tycoonʼs attack head-on, and Tycoon even called ʼOrderʼ people to surround her.”

”I passed by this morning and took a look - two shops along the street were completely demolished. The ʼNight Watchmenʼ were handling the aftermath, disguising the scene as a traffic accident. It was really brutal.”

”Probably only Fluoxetine in our society could withstand that kind of attack!”

As Edwin spoke, Lin Yu understood.

”Oh, so she ran into Tycoon, thatʼs really unlucky.”

Lin Yu said with emotion.

He felt a bit regretful in his heart.

Why didnʼt Tycoon just finish her off?

At least seriously injure her!

Of course, Lin Yu was also somewhat curious. Although Fluoxetine seemed mentally unstable, she didnʼt appear to be stupid.

How did she end up in such an unfortunate situation?

Unfortunately, the Edwin before him had limited capabilities and no subordinates. His title of ”Jiangcheng Branch President” was almost empty, and he basically had no grasp of Fluoxetineʼs situation.

No wonder he became the Vice President of Jiangcheng as soon as he joined... turns out the Jiangcheng branch of the ʼPsychological Societyʼ only had two people!

Therefore, Lin Yu couldnʼt get more information about the situation from Edwin.

”President, letʼs not talk too much about last nightʼs incident,” Lin Yu took out the latest model tablet computer, ”Are there still some procedures I need to complete to join the ʼPsychological Societyʼ?”

He had looked at this tablet yesterday - although it had several specialized apps installed called ”Communication,” ”Tasks,” and ”List,” Lin Yu couldnʼt use any of them.

He didnʼt have an account.

Edwin slapped his forehead.

”Ah, thatʼs exactly what I came here to do!”

He took out his own tablet from his pocket, unlocked it, and opened the app.

”Currently, youʼre already registered in the Jiangcheng branch of the ʼPsychological Society.ʼ You can choose a brand new code name for yourself.”

As Edwin spoke, three options popped up on the tablet.

”These are names selected for you by the Professional Committee after evaluating your profile and your performance in last nightʼs call... looks like you have the makings of a good executive specialist.”

Lin Yu looked at the three names that appeared on the tablet.

”Clozapine,” ”Magnesium Valproate,” ”Lithium Carbonate.”

None of them sounded particularly nice.

Lin Yu let out a sigh.

”Even a common drug like Clozapine hasnʼt been taken by anyone?”

”Someone used to have it. Forty-five days ago, the former Clozapine was on a mission in Tibet when he was ambushed by the ʼNight Watchmenʼ and disappeared in the uninhabited area... according to the ʼNight Watchmenʼ report we later obtained, he should be dead.”

Edwin said calmly.

Lin Yu was stunned: ”That name doesnʼt sound very auspicious...”

”Itʼs fine, currently the common executive code names have already been recycled twice,” Edwin said, ”If you want to know, among these three, Lithium Carbonate is the most inauspicious - itʼs been recycled four times already.”

”ʼDeath Gameʼ players are like leeks - no matter how much they donʼt want to die, they still get replaced batch after batch... thereʼs no good solution.”

Lin Yu fell silent, then sighed.

”Then Iʼll take Clozapine.”

A smile appeared on Edwinʼs round face: ”Wise choice, Zhu Ming... from now on, we should call you ʼClozapineʼ.”

As he spoke, Edwin tapped a few times on his tablet and aimed it at Lin Yu.

”Come on... let me take a photo for facial recognition login.”

Following the principle that this face belonged to Xia Yue anyway, Lin Yu allowed Edwin to take the photo.

Then, when he opened his tablet, he was pleasantly surprised to find...

Those three apps exclusive to the ʼPsychological Societyʼ were now usable!

”These three apps - one is for contacting other organization members. Your current available contacts, besides me, include the person from the Professional Committee specifically responsible for liaising with our Jiangcheng branch... thatʼs Rosenthal who interviewed you last night.”

Lin Yu clicked open and looked at the empty list, quite disappointed.

He had thought that once he joined, he could find a large number of ʼPsychological Societyʼ members... then he could use his information advantage within the ʼPsychological Societyʼ to quietly eliminate some people, just like he had used Heavenly Artisanʼs identity within the ʼMaraudersʼ.

Although he couldnʼt kill Fluoxetine, the entire ʼPsychological Societyʼ was Lin Yuʼs revenge target.

”The remaining two apps - ʼListʼ contains the potential lists released by the Council, and you can also view past lists. You should look at them when you have time,” Edwin said, ”That way, if you encounter them in reality or in dungeons, you can interfere with or help them based on your own judgment.”

”As for ʼTasksʼ... whenever thereʼs a message, it means thereʼs something you must do.”

”Completing them earns rewards in our ʼPsychological Societyʼs internal points, similar to the forum points, which can be exchanged for various items.”

”If you donʼt complete them... naturally some points will be deducted.”

At this point, Edwin paused: ”Thatʼs the basic situation. Now thereʼs just one final step... please take out your phone.”

Lin Yu was momentarily stunned, then took out the phone that belonged to Zhu Ming.

As soon as he unlocked it, he saw a window pop up on the phone.

”Detected that you have joined the ʼPsychological Society.ʼ Your forum account has now been removed!”

Then, Edwin smiled.

”Alright, now youʼre truly officially joined!”

”Welcome, Clozapine!”
