Chapter 364: I Want to Look at the Plum Blossoms a Bit More

”Stare...”

Looking at his fiancéeʼs dark gaze, Xiao Mo smiled and explained, ”Miss Lian Li travels the world. She probably just happened to arrive in Qin Kingdom.”

”Oh.” Qin Siyao responded.

”However, Miss Lianʼs martial path truly has limitless prospects, and sheʼs also formidable in military campaigns. If Miss Lian enters our Qin Kingdom, she will definitely make many contributions to our nation.”

”Just contributions to Qin Kingdom?” Qin Siyao huffed.

”Of course.” Xiao Mo smiled, finding Siyaoʼs jealous appearance somewhat adorable, ”Donʼt overthink it. Miss Lian Li and I are merely friends.”

”Hmph!” Qin Siyao turned her head away, her small hands continuously rubbing together in front of her as she muttered softly, ”Iʼm not overthinking anything...”

”Then Iʼll have someone tell Miss Lian that Iʼm not home and she should go directly to the Ministry of War.” Xiao Mo said with a smile.

”No need...” Qin Siyao turned around, lowering her head, ”You... you can just meet her. Iʼm not the jealous type. What reason would you have not to meet her?”

”Really?” Xiao Mo asked.
”Of... of course itʼs true...” Qin Siyao nodded, ”I... Iʼll go back first...”

With those words, Qin Siyao ran out, returned to her own courtyard, then secretly crouched by the wall, eavesdropping with her divine consciousness.

”This girl.”

Xiao Mo knew Siyao was definitely eavesdropping with her divine consciousness, but Xiao Mo didnʼt mind and didnʼt set up any formation to block divine consciousness detection.

”Please invite Miss Lian in.” Xiao Mo said to the maid.

”Yes, Your Highness.”

The maid bowed and withdrew.

Before long, Lian Li walked into Xiao Moʼs courtyard.

Looking at this woman who had become acquainted with him through combat, Xiao Mo indeed felt like he was seeing an old friend.

At this time, she was dressed like a wandering heroine of the martial world, possessing that unrestrained temperament, the dignity of someone who had been a general for many years, and also some measure of refinement from a great family.

”This humble woman Lian Li pays respects to the Frost Prince.” Lian Li cupped her fists in salute to Xiao Mo.

”Miss Lian need not be so formal. It has indeed been quite a while since we last met.” Xiao Mo gestured for her to rise and asked curiously, ”Does Miss Lian wish to become a guest minister of our Qin Kingdom?”

”What, is that not acceptable?” Lian Li said with a smile, ”Could it be that the Frost Prince looks down on this humble woman?”

”Of course not.” Xiao Mo poured a cup of tea for Lian Li, ”If Qin Kingdom could gain Miss Lianʼs assistance, it would naturally be our nationʼs fortune. Iʼm just somewhat surprised.”

Lian Li shook her head, a trace of sorrow in her eyes.

”These past days, Iʼve traveled among the various nations, watching the common people, watching the nations wage war, and Iʼve had many thoughts.

I wanted to try helping others, but what good is helping one person, ten people, a hundred people?

Now the various nations wage endless war, the fighting never stops, everything is futile.

Not long ago, I heard my uncle had surrendered to Qin Kingdom and serves under the Frost Prince.

So I came to the Qin capital, wanting to catch up with my uncle.

Chatting and chatting, my uncle said the Frost Prince has the ambition to bring peace to the world and also the ability to bring peace to the world.

And at this time, Qin Kingdom widely accepts talented people from across the land.

My uncle urged me to remain in Qin.

After thinking for several days, I wanted to come visit the Frost Prince, to presume to seek a position as guest minister, to assist the Frost Prince, and also to repay past kindness.”

”Miss Lian is too modest. If you donʼt mind, you could first serve as my vice general and remain in the capital. Afterwards, based on the military merits you achieve, I will grant you an official position. How does that sound?” Xiao Mo asked.

”As it should be. Many thanks to the Frost Prince.” Lian Li bowed in gratitude.

”By the way, Iʼve heard the Frost Prince is getting married.” Lian Li took out a jade pendant from her storage bag, ”This humble woman has nothing much to give. This jade pendant is called the Marriage Pendant. I carved it with my own hands. Itʼs not any precious item, but I wish the Frost Prince and Princess a harmonious union for a hundred years and to grow old together with white hair.”

Xiao Mo accepted the jade pendant, ”I thank you on Siyaoʼs behalf.”

”Then this humble woman will take her leave first and not disturb the Frost Prince further.”

”Miss, take care.” Xiao Mo bowed in farewell.

Lian Li cupped her fists in salute, her eyes gazing deeply at Xiao Mo for a moment, then turned and left.

Half an incense stickʼs worth of time after Lian Li left the Xiao Manor, only then did Qin Siyao come to Xiao Moʼs courtyard.

Compared to her earlier jealousy, Qin Siyaoʼs expression now looked much more relaxed.

”Miss Lian has left?” Qin Siyao asked.

”Sheʼs left.” Xiao Mo smiled and took out the jade pendant, ”This jade pendant is a congratulatory gift Miss Lian made with her own hands. Itʼs a Marriage Pendant. The man and woman each wear one half, and when combined, they form a complete piece.”

”This jade pendant is so beautifully made. Miss Lian truly has skillful hands and an ingenious mind.” Qin Siyao accepted the jade pendant, her fair fingers gently caressing it.

”I told you, Miss Lian and I are just friends, nothing more. Do you believe me now?” Xiao Mo said with a smile.

”I... I never said you two had anything...”

Qin Siyao lowered her head guiltily.

”However, Xiao Mo...” Qin Siyao raised her head, looking seriously into Xiao Moʼs eyes, ”If you like her, you can also take Miss Lian as a concubine.”

”Silly girl, what are you saying?” Xiao Mo lightly tapped the womanʼs head.

”Iʼm really not lying this time...” Qin Siyao covered her small head like a squirrel, ”As long as you treat me well in the future and donʼt ignore me, it really doesnʼt matter if you take concubines.”

”You...” Xiao Mo pinched her small face, ”Siyao, you said in this life you only like me, right?”

”Yes, yes.” Qin Siyao nodded.

”If thatʼs the case.” Xiao Mo smiled, ”Then why canʼt I only like you alone in this life?”

”But Xiao Mo...”

Qin Siyao raised her eyes, blinking.

”Even if you like other women, I will still only like you in this life.”

”...”

Looking at the womanʼs clear eyes, Xiao Mo was slightly stunned, his heart feeling as if something soft had gently stirred it.

”Silly girl.”

Xiao Mo flicked Qin Siyaoʼs brow and strode out of the courtyard.

”Hey, Xiao Mo, did you hear me or not? I... I gave you a chance. If you miss this village, there wonʼt be this shop.” Qin Siyao puffed out her cheeks and called out to Xiao Mo, ”If you donʼt agree today, I wonʼt let you marry other girls in the future.”

”No need.” Xiao Mo waved his hand.

”You...”

Hearing Xiao Moʼs answer, Qin Siyao felt a bit dejected. She had finally worked up the determination to say these words...

But... Xiao Moʼs answer was like peach blossom pastry, making Qin Siyao feel sweet and soft inside.

”What are you standing there for? Are you coming or not? The plum blossoms in Pure Fragrance Garden have bloomed. Didnʼt you want to go see them with me yesterday?” Xiao Mo turned around and said.

”Coming, coming...”

Qin Siyao put away the jade pendant and trotted after him, walking beside Xiao Mo.

Walking on the stone path of Pure Fragrance Garden.

Qin Siyaoʼs mood was as light as the snowflakes drifting down from the sky.

She would look at the plum blossoms around them at times, and at the man beside her at other times but after a while, Qin Siyaoʼs gaze focused once more on Xiao Moʼs large hands.

A small thought slowly emerged in the womanʼs heart and this thought grew larger and larger, gradually occupying the womanʼs entire mind.

”Should be okay, right?”

”This shouldnʼt count as lacking modesty, right?”

”Weʼre getting married the year after next anyway.”

”Xiao Mo shouldnʼt think Iʼm a frivolous woman, right?”

Qin Siyaoʼs heartbeat grew faster and faster. Her gaze looked at Xiao Moʼs palm even more frequently, her thoughts twisting like silk threads.

Quietly, Qin Siyaoʼs fair, slender jade fingers secretly reached toward Xiao Moʼs palm but every time Qin Siyao was about to touch Xiao Moʼs palm, she would draw back again.

Yet before long, Qin Siyaoʼs slender hand would secretly approach Xiao Moʼs hand again.

This went back and forth many times. Finally, Qin Siyao seemed to make up her mind, her index finger lightly hooking Xiao Moʼs finger then the womanʼs slender jade fingers slowly buried themselves at Xiao Moʼs fingertips.

Finally, the womanʼs fingers crossed and interlaced with Xiao Moʼs, palms pressing together.

Feeling the roughness and warmth of Xiao Moʼs palm, Qin Siyaoʼs cheeks grew even redder.

Xiao Mo turned his head to look at the woman beside him.

Qin Siyao lowered her head, the blush on her cheeks having spread to the roots of her ears, like the plum blossoms blooming in the garden.

Xiao Moʼs lips curved slightly upward. He acted as if he knew nothing, but his hand slowly tightened its grip on the young girlʼs soft, boneless small hand.

The force from her belovedʼs palm made the woman freeze slightly. The womanʼs head lowered even more, but her body pressed even closer to Xiao Mo.

Xiao Mo and Qin Siyao walked step by step through Pure Fragrance Garden.

White snow fell from the sky, slowly covering the footprints the two left behind.

After walking one circuit through Pure Fragrance Garden, Xiao Mo said to Qin Siyao, ”These snow plums are indeed quite beautiful, but the snow seems to be getting heavier. Shall we go back?”

”Letʼs... letʼs walk a bit more...” Qin Siyao gently shook her head, ”I want to look at the plum blossoms a bit more...”

”Then letʼs walk a bit more.” With fingers interlocked with Qin Siyaoʼs, Xiao Mo continued walking on the stone path of Pure Fragrance Garden.

After walking for who knows how long, Xiao Mo asked again, ”Shall we go back?”

”A... a bit longer...”

After another incense stickʼs worth of time, Xiao Mo looked at the woman beside him, ”Shall we go back?”

”A... a bit longer...”

Qin Siyao tightly gripped Xiao Moʼs palm, feeling the warmth of his hand.

”Just a bit longer...”
