Chapter 1004: Chapter 1003: Not Going Back Anymore? (4 updates)

”Look, someone’s kneeling over there!”

”Eh? I feel like I’ve seen those two people up ahead somewhere before.”

”Of course you’ve seen them! They’re notorious thugs around here—a Young Master Wang and a guy named Huang.”

”Ah, so it’s them. But who’s that man and those two women? What kind of status do they have to make these two thugs kneel so obediently?”

”Who knows? Probably a young master from an even bigger faction. But honestly, seeing those two punks kneeling like grandsons makes my day.”

The cinema was already bustling with people, and Huang Shan and his companion were locally famous, so they quickly attracted a crowd of curious onlookers.

Huang Shan had never been more humiliated in his life. With so many people gawking at him like he was some kind of zoo animal, he wished he could dig a hole and bury himself in it.

”Are you a cultivator?” Huang Shan wasn’t completely clueless and quickly guessed Ye Haochuan’s identity. But instead of fear, he raised his voice righteously and declared, ”Cultivators are not supposed to meddle with mortals so casually. Aren’t you afraid your sect will punish you for this?”

”Oh? Looks like you actually know quite a bit!” Ye Haochuan sneered playfully and said, ”But tell me, did I lay a finger on you? Did I even touch a single hair on you? Isn’t it you who insisted on kneeling before me? How’s that any of my business?”

”You...” Huang Shan was left speechless. Indeed, given the circumstances, he had no proof that Ye Haochuan was responsible for his predicament.

”Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’re a cultivator! Do you even know who I am? I advise you to release me, or you’ll regret it!”

”Oh? I’d actually love to see how you plan to make me regret it.”

Ye Haochuan didn’t deign to take these two seriously. Two ordinary mortals, no matter their background—how strong could they really be?

Sure enough, seeing Ye Haochuan entirely unfazed, Huang Shan deflated instantly.

”Big bro, I didn’t mean to offend you. Just think of me as a fart and let me off the hook, okay?”

He had tried to talk tough earlier, hoping to intimidate Ye Haochuan. But after seeing Ye Haochuan entirely unaffected, he ran out of options and could only plead for mercy.

”Eh? Weren’t you pretty high and mighty just now? What’s with the sudden groveling? You know, that’s pretty embarrassing!” Zhao Bingqian teased gleefully, clearly enjoying the chaos.

”You just can’t escape running into spineless bullies wherever you go—what rotten luck!” Chen Yushan scoffed disdainfully.

”Exactly, the kind who only pick on the weak—those types are the absolute worst!”

”...”

The banter between Zhao Bingqian and Chen Yushan made Huang Shan and Young Master Wang’s faces flush red with shame, but they didn’t dare retort. They were too scared of further angering Ye Haochuan.

Damn, if I’d known this guy was so powerful, I wouldn’t have messed with him even if I got paid to do it! Both Huang Shan and Young Master Wang had the same thought simultaneously.

”A fart, huh? Well, I don’t just let those off lightly. What if it stinks up the place for other people?” Ye Haochuan said with mischievous amusement.

Huang Shan and Young Master Wang felt like crying on the spot, but before they could beg further, Ye Haochuan continued, ”But speaking of earlier, didn’t you say you’d rent this cinema for a whole month and let everyone watch movies for free? I mean, a ’good guy’ like you kneeling all the time doesn’t really suit the image, does it?”

Both Huang Shan and Young Master Wang turned pale immediately. Renting the cinema for a month would cost tens of thousands! Sure, they weren’t short on cash, but spending it like this was ridiculous!

However, looking at Ye Haochuan’s slyly smiling face, they both shivered and quickly nodded. ”Yes, yes, we definitely said we were going to treat everyone to free movies for a whole month!”

”Did everyone hear that? These two fine gentlemen have generously promised free movies for everyone!” Ye Haochuan shouted to the gathered crowd with a wicked grin.

The onlookers erupted in cheers—while all the cultivator talk earlier may have confused them, free movies were something they could wholeheartedly get behind.

Within moments, people flooded the ticket counter, booking every single show they could find. It looked like they were planning to live at the cinema for the next month.

Huang Shan and Young Master Wang looked utterly miserable, but when they felt the oppressive force disappear from their bodies, they sighed in relief. In comparison to prolonged suffering, tens of thousands didn’t seem so bad.

Huang Shan quickly got up, only to find Young Master Wang still kneeling motionless.

”What are you doing? Got used to kneeling already?”

Young Master Wang ignored him and instead bowed deeply toward Ye Haochuan. ”Esteemed expert, my lifelong dream has been to become a cultivator, but I’ve never had the chance. Today, I’ve finally met someone like you—an accomplished master. Can you take me as your apprentice?”

”If I took on every person who begged me as an apprentice, I’d be working myself to death,” Ye Haochuan replied casually before walking into the cinema without looking back.

”He’s gone already. Why don’t you get up?” Huang Shan grumbled sourly, seeing Young Master Wang still kneeling. ”Don’t waste your time. He’ll never agree.”

”No matter what it takes, I will make him accept me as his apprentice!” A glint of determination flashed in Young Master Wang’s eyes.

Meanwhile, Ye Haochuan led the two women, Zhao Bingqian and Chen Yushan, into the cinema. After the commotion earlier, the staff didn’t even bother checking their tickets and let them in directly.

The movie started soon, and to Ye Haochuan’s surprise, the once-feuding women suddenly seemed to have completely set aside their animosity.

With the mood finally harmonious, Ye Haochuan was relieved and ready to have a proper chat with them.

”Bingqian, since you rarely come to the Imperial Capital, why not stay a few days longer before heading back?” Ye Haochuan asked tentatively.

”Who said I’m going back?” Zhao Bingqian blinked her captivating eyes. ”I’m not planning to leave this time. What do you think? Pretty surprising, right?”

Surprising? More like terrifying.

Ye Haochuan didn’t dislike Zhao Bingqian, but putting her together with Chen Yushan always did give off the sense that something explosive could happen at any moment.

”Aren’t you worried about the company if you don’t return?”

”I stayed in the Imperial Capital for the company’s sake. Did you think I was staying because of you? Keep dreaming!” Zhao Bingqian snorted playfully.

It turned out Zhao Beauty Group had rapidly grown in the women’s skincare market thanks to several formulas provided by Ye Haochuan. In just a few months, they had captured nearly a third of the skincare market.

Zhao Bingqian came to the Imperial Capital partly to settle scores with Ye Haochuan but mostly to establish a branch for Zhao Beauty Group. In fact, it would eventually become the company’s headquarters.

”Actually, this works out well. The two of us can take turns keeping an eye on this philanderer so he doesn’t go around chasing skirts again!” Chen Yushan chimed in unexpectedly.

”Huh? Weren’t you two at each other’s throats earlier? How suddenly did you become best friends?” Ye Haochuan was utterly stunned.

”Who said we fought? Just now, Sister Yushan and I were having such a good chat in the other room, weren’t we, Sister Yushan?” Zhao Bingqian laughed, looping her arm through Chen Yushan’s.

”Absolutely! Bingqian and I really hit it off. If you dare bully her, I’ll be the first to come after you!”

What the heck was going on? That intense hostility earlier—did that look remotely like friendship?
