Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

After dealing with the Public Security Bureau staff member who had turned into a plant person hiding in the cargo truck, and taking their laptops, Lin Ye entered Dream Bar.

The bar now had no living people left, only some mutated monsters gnawing on corpses.

As Lin Ye passed by those mutated monsters, any that came within a certain distance exploded one after another, splattering red and green flesh across the bar’s walls and floor.

Pushing open the private room door, Lin Ye sat on the sofa.

Sarah huddled in a corner of the room, staring in shock at the man wearing a full bodysuit and integrated sealed gas mask.

Since that experiment, this was the first time she had seen someone approach her without turning into a monster.

Lin Ye didn’t communicate with Sarah. He took out the laptop and metal hard drive, beginning to examine the data on the drive.

”...Who are you?”

Sarah’s voice was hoarse; she hadn’t spoken for a very long time.

”I’m an external contractor for the Public Security Bureau. I’ll protect you until tomorrow morning, but I have things to do, so I need you to come with me.”Lin Ye rapidly scanned through the data on the hard drive. He didn’t care about the incident’s origin, only wanting to know where the Public Security Bureau Director was hiding.

”The Public Security Bureau? You probably don’t know this yet, but it was the Public Security Bureau that turned me into this monster.”

Sarah didn’t know how the other party would treat her, but she no longer cared. She didn’t want to run anymore.

”I know. And I’m planning to take out the Public Security Bureau Director and the laboratory supervisor. If you’re willing to cooperate with me, we can resolve this matter sooner. I can have a late-night snack with my friends, and fewer citizens outside will die.”

The data on the hard drive was quite complex; Lin Ye still needed some time to finish reviewing it.

”...Are you serious?”

Sarah lifted her head. She didn’t think the other party had any reason to deceive her.

”Of course. You don’t need to do anything, just follow behind me and don’t run off randomly.”

In the research materials, Lin Ye found design blueprints for Research Base Number Two.

And Research Base Number Two was located beneath the abandoned subway station on the city outskirts.

”But whenever I get close to other people, I turn them into monsters. They don’t have equipment like yours.”

Sarah no longer wanted to see others turn into monsters.

”This is plant inhibitor that can temporarily suppress your current condition. Try it. If it doesn’t work, I’ll find a safe place for you to hide.”

Lin Ye took a gray syringe from his suitcase, inserted it into Sarah’s neck, and injected the medication into her body.

Before Sarah could react, the cold medication entered her bloodstream. At first, there was only slight burning pain, but soon intense agony spread throughout her entire body.

The pain wasn’t Sarah’s—it came from the plants that had taken root inside her and achieved symbiosis with her.

Lin Ye carefully monitored the changes within Sarah’s body while photographing some important documents and sending them to the chat room.

Li Qihou: We’ve mostly handled things on our end, but some residents in other areas have also undergone mutation. How’s your situation?

Lin Ye: I’m planning to take the target to Research Base Number Two to deal with the Public Security Bureau Director hiding there. I can handle this myself. Stabilizing the city is up to you.

Zhao Yu: You’re going alone? Should we first handle the mutated citizens in the city together, then go to Base Number Two as a group?

Shen Bing: Yeah, I suspect that director is a fourth-tier spiritual energy user. That’s the Public Security Bureau’s headquarters—it must be extremely dangerous.

Lin Ye: I’m worried the other side will cause trouble while we’re dealing with the mutated citizens. There’s no tactic more efficient than base trading.

Li Qihou: But we don’t have a ’base’ for them to trade either?

Lin Ye: I suspect that after the target dies, a disaster affecting the entire city will occur. That’s why the system wants us to protect the target. The other side must be planning to kill the target at a specific moment, so the target is our ’base.’

Zhao Yu: So you’re taking the target to their base... Hiss, isn’t that too treacherous?

Li Qihou: Then we won’t crash the party. You don’t need to push too hard either—withdraw when appropriate. The target can die at their base.

Lin Ye: I’ll handle this properly.

Lin Ye put away the suitcase and laptop, pulling the half-dead Sarah out of the bar.

Sarah looked at the red and green substance coating the floor and couldn’t help vomiting everywhere.

Just as Lin Ye expected, after the inhibitor injection, Sarah temporarily lost her ability to cause mutations in nearby organisms.

Lin Ye threw Sarah into the sports car’s back seat, then gave the traffic officer the address for Research Base Number Two.

The traffic officer glanced at the weakened Sarah through the rearview mirror, asked no questions, but simply floored the accelerator, starting with a drift.

Lin Ye took out a small mirror. Little Ye was currently reading a book in some library.

”Everything alright on your end?”

Lin Ye sensed a leisurely atmosphere from Little Ye.

”Mm. You’d better not rely on that coin—people with bad luck are truly miserable.”

Little Ye sighed. She never expected the other party to die in such a ridiculous manner.

”My side is almost finished too. We can have a late-night snack together tonight.”

Lin Ye hadn’t been counting time, so he didn’t know how long remained until the day ended.

”Okay. Later you can bring the mirror inside. I can help accelerate things slightly for you.”

Little Ye put down the book in her hands as she spoke.

The traffic officer glanced at Lin Ye talking to his own reflection in the mirror and pressed harder on the accelerator. He had long thought this guy wasn’t normal.

Sarah struggled to sit up from the back seat. Looking at Lin Ye, she suddenly felt a sense of shared suffering. If she hadn’t been sent to the asylum, she wouldn’t have become what she was now.

Lin Ye ignored both of them. He began discussing some questions about runes and spiritual matters with Little Ye. In the system shelter, it was difficult to find a teacher who could instruct him.

As a Consciousness Entity, Little Ye’s understanding of spiritual matters was completely different from Lin Ye’s, giving him entirely new insights into how spirit and body combine.

The traffic officer’s driving skills were quite impressive. Combined with the pressure from Lin Ye constantly talking to his mirror image and Sarah muttering to herself in the back seat, the sports car soon stopped at the entrance to the abandoned subway.

Lin Ye got out holding the small mirror. He didn’t stop the traffic officer from following behind, merely giving him several more rifle magazines.

”Is this the place?”

Sarah looked at the pitch-black subway entrance, remembering her time as a lab rat in the laboratory, and couldn’t help stopping in her tracks.

”You can’t escape. If we don’t deal with them, you’ll always be an Experimental Subject.”

Lin Ye took out a gray syringe and injected it into the traffic officer’s neck. He didn’t believe those below wouldn’t know they had arrived.

”If we fail... can you kill me?”

Sarah would rather die than be treated as an Experimental Subject again.

”I can. But I won’t fail.”

Lin Ye entered the subway entrance first.
