Striker of The Gods

 The Sixth Thunder

Pre-Match: The Garden at 1:44 a.m.

Caos stood motionless in the center of the ruined backyard, rain falling in steady silver sheets. The sixth La Liga match loomed: Villarreal, a dangerous, well-organized side known for their Yellow Submarine style: fluid, technical, and dangerous on the counter.

But Caos was no longer thinking about tactics.

Chronobiology is the science that investigates the changes that take place in physiological variables as a function of time. This science has described a series of biological rhythms that repeat themselves over time, some on a daily basis, which is the reason why they are called circadian rhythms (from “circa diem,” or around the day). Body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, or hormone concentrations are some of the physiological variables subject to these circadian rhythms.

Most of the components of sports performance in general and football in particular, such as speed, muscle strength, agility, endurance, or the ability to carry out complex technical actions, are affected by the circadian rhythm of body temperature, reaching optimal values in the early afternoon, when body temperature is usually maximal. On the contrary, all of these abilities diminish if the sporting activity takes place when the body temperature deviates from its maximal values.

Therefore, it would seem logical that competition times coincide with the times of the day at which athletic performance is maximal, as this would be in the benefit of the quality of the sports event. However, this does not seem to be the criterion followed by the authorities in charge of establishing the times of football matches in Spain. If this were the case, nobody would consider that 10 at night might be the ideal kickoff time for a match.

In addition to the more than likely negative impact on players’ performance, quality of play, and the interest of the sports event itself, these nighttime matches involve a series of additional complications for the teams that can go on without sleeping, such as access to adequate nutrition and alteration of the players’ sleep time and quality that they can use for the match day. Considering that a match that starts at ten at night finishes close to midnight and that players have to respond to the media before and after heading to the changing rooms once the match is over, it is unlikely that the team can follow sport nutrition experts’ guidelines until well past midnight. There is no doubt that this will jeopardize the resynthesis of muscle energy stores, subsequently affecting recovery. Enough scientific evidence is available to state that nutrition is key to a footballer’s performance, and it does not seem that nighttime competition keeps this issue in consideration.

He left at 3:07 a.m. with only a small bag, the Nike ball, and the clothes on his back. No explanation to the maids beyond a single quiet sentence:

He was thinking about insignificance.

Caos (internal monologue, voice echoing through the Chaos Heart):

They will come with their pretty football. Their quick passes. Their clever movements.

They will believe, for ninety minutes, that they are different from the teams I have already erased.

They are not.

They are just another group of men who still believe effort equals relevance.

The disgust was no longer hot. It was ice.

Every weak team that steps onto the pitch reminds me how much of this world accepts mediocrity as destiny.

Tonight I will not punish them.

Tonight I will make them feel the quiet horror of being completely, undeniably irrelevant.

His eyes opened. The violet glow was calm. Surgical. Merciless.

Social Media & Global Reaction Before Kick-Off

The football world was already losing its mind.

“He scored 13 goals last week and looked bored. What’s he going to do to Villarreal?” — @ESPNFC

Instagram & TikTok:

Viral clips of his previous matches slowed down to show the physics-defying movement. One edit with dark music and the caption “When God gets bored and decides to play football” had 87 million views in 14 hours.

Gerard Moreno (Villarreal Captain):

We know what’s coming. But we are not Málaga. We are not Valencia. We will fight. If we lose, we lose with dignity. No mentiras! que mierda! esto no se puede permitir nunca mas! Que verguenza! JODER!

Dani Parejo (Villarreal):

I’ve faced him before. This season he looks… different. Colder. Like he’s judging us for even existing on the same pitch. Puta madre. Estamos jodidos. Tio, me cago!!!! Esto no es posible. VAMOS A MORIR

Mbappé (teammate, in press conference):

Asking me what Caos is going to do today is like asking what a hurricane will do. Just stay out of its way.

The Match – Estadio de la Cerámica

Villarreal came out with courage, a high press, and a compact shape, trying to make it chaotic and physical. For fourteen minutes they managed to make the game look almost competitive.

Then Caos received the ball in his own half.

He accelerated to 331 mph, calm, measured, but unstoppable. A Self-Conquering Requiem left four Villarreal players spinning in place. From 57 meters, he launched a 714 km/h cannonball that left the goalkeeper on his knees before the ball even hit the net.

1–0.

No celebration. Just a slow walk back while staring at the Villarreal players with quiet, clinical disgust.

Social Media Explodes:

@FabrizioRomano:

1-0 Villarreal in 16 minutes. The man is not playing football anymore. He is conducting executions.

@ESPN:

Villarreal players already look like they regret showing up.

The second goal came in the 23rd minute. Villarreal tried to build from the back. Caos intercepted with contemptuous ease, dribbled through six players using the Insignificance Requiem, and finished with a no-look 720° spinning volley from 41 meters.

2–0.

By halftime it was 7–0.

Caos had five goals and two assists. Each finish carried the same cold disdain. After his fifth goal he stood over the ball, looking down at the exhausted Villarreal players like they personally offended him by breathing.

Caos (quietly, but picked up by nearby mics):

You train for this? Pathetic.

In the second half he became almost bored.

He dropped deep, dictating the game with 21.3 key passes while still scoring at will. A 68-meter no-look three-point assist to Vinícius. A standing backflip penalty for his sixth. Then, in the 84th minute, with the score at 11–0, he received the ball at the halfway line, looked at the broken Villarreal players with pure, emotionless judgment, and performed The Final Insignificance Strike, a slow, deliberate 43-foot chilena that seemed to mock their entire season before tearing through the net.

Final score: 17–0.

Caos walked off the pitch without acknowledging anyone. No fist pumps. No smiles. Just cold, absolute indifference.

Post-Match Reactions

Gerard Moreno (Villarreal captain, emotional in mixed zone):

We prepared everything. We fought. And he looked at us like we were children playing in his backyard. I have never felt so… small on a football pitch.

This man is single-handedly ending careers. Villarreal players need therapy after this. — @TheAthletic

Mbappé (post-match): He’s not even trying anymore. And we still scored 17. I’m scared for the rest of La Liga.

The three maids waited for him at the mansion.

Zeraphina:

You looked… done with them tonight. Like they weren’t even worthy opponents. Mio amore, ti amo. Sei tutto per me. Que lo digo en serio. Que yo te amo.

Caos (calm, almost serene):

They weren’t.

I am getting tired of destroying weakness.

I want opponents who can actually make me feel something again.

Que los he destruido. se han cagado.

He looked toward the horizon, violet eyes cold and distant.

The sixth match had ended.

But the search for something, anything that could finally challenge the storm had only just begun.
