Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 616: Chapter 614: One Finger_1

”Kid, you surely have a knack for running your mouth; now let’s see your true colors!”

Yuan Gang had already unsheathed his Long Knife, a cold glint swirling in his eyes. As he spoke, he prepared to strike.

”Show some mercy!” Lin Ya promptly looked at Ling Chen. Even though Yuan Gang was asking for it, he was, after all, a top young expert from their Black Market. If Ling Chen were to injure him seriously, the Black Market’s strength would suffer.

The moment Lin Ya spoke, Yuan Gang flew into a rage. Instantly drawing his Long Knife, murderous intent filled the air as his gaze locked onto Ling Chen.

”I know my limits,” Ling Chen replied casually.

”Shut up, you weakling!”

Yuan Gang was ready, his True Qi revving to its limit. His Long Knife was coated with a layer of green luminescence. Lightweight in his hand, the blade was a blur.

Ling Chen didn’t draw his sword, instead walking step by step toward Yuan Gang. Each step was of equal distance, as if measured with a ruler. His gaze was cast down at Yuan Gang, exuding a demeanor of leisurely strolling through a tranquil courtyard, undeterred by wind or rain, like a lone warrior beheading an enemy amidst a vast army.

”Arrogant.”

Yuan Gang was infuriated by Ling Chen. Ling Chen neither drew his sword nor assumed a stance, merely walking towards him. Did he think Yuan Gang was just fish on a chopping block, ready to be slaughtered at will?

”Extreme Wind, Shadow Breaking Blade!”

With a flash of his blade, Yuan Gang charged straight toward the approaching Ling Chen. His lightweight Long Knife transformed into a green screen of light in his hand. As the Long Knife danced rapidly, the surrounding dust and debris were drawn toward it. It seemed the Long Knife held two opposing forces of attraction. In combat, these forces would drag an opponent unwillingly toward the blade, ensnaring them like a fly in a spider’s web.

Thanks to his peculiar blade technique, Yuan Gang had stealthily assassinated several top-tier grandmasters of comparable strength. This time, facing Ling Chen, he wasn’t seeking victory. He aimed only to maintain his unbeaten record and perhaps make Ling Chen suffer a slight loss.

”Facing the Gold-ranked Assassin Yuan Gang, he actually didn’t draw his sword. Now, even if he does, it’s too late.”

”Senior Brother Yuan Gang’s blade skill is proficient. His oneness of man and sword makes him invincible. Among the younger generation, few can match him. This man is done for.”

By now, a crowd of Black Market disciples had gathered, observing the fight.

Lin Ya frowned, lost in thought.

SPLAT!

A startling scene occurred. Facing Yuan Gang’s aggressive strike, Ling Chen merely extended his index finger. It was not the Breaking Gold Finger, just a plain finger. But it carried an invincible Sword Intent. Yuan Gang’s Long Knife struck with incredible speed, but under Ling Chen’s extended finger, it had nowhere to hide and was hit directly in the middle of the blade.

CLANG!

An immense force transferred through the Long Knife to Yuan Gang’s wrist. Instantly, the Long Knife flew out of his hand, spinning up into the sky.

The next moment, Ling Chen appeared before Yuan Gang. His finger struck with unstoppable force, breaking through Yuan Gang’s Protective True Qi and pressing relentlessly against him.

CRUNCH!

The sound of metal warping echoed as Yuan Gang spat out a mouthful of blood, falling headlong to the ground. A distinct fingerprint, its edges slightly twisted, appeared on the inner armor on his chest.

With a single finger, Yuan Gang was miserably defeated.

Looking down on Yuan Gang, Ling Chen said casually, ”You can’t even withstand a single finger of mine, yet you challenged me. Tell me, aren’t you a fool?”

The watching Black Market disciples were stunned!

Yuan Gang, as strong as he was, couldn’t withstand one finger from Ling Chen. With a single finger, his knife flew away, and he collapsed. It felt as if an adult had poked a toddler who had just learned to walk. The toddler, utterly resentful, would fall helplessly to the ground, powerless to resist.

”Senior Brother Yuan Gang was knocked down by a single finger and completely ground into the dirt... Is this real?”

”Just how strong is he? Without even drawing his sword, one finger was enough to defeat Senior Brother Yuan Gang. It seemed effortless, a single strike.”

”Who is this man? An Immortal?”

At this moment, the Black Market disciples couldn’t stop replaying a scene in their minds: Ling Chen leisurely walking towards Yuan Gang and, under Yuan Gang’s full attack, sending the Long Knife flying with a single finger. He then hit Yuan Gang’s chest, causing him to spit out a mouthful of blood and fall to the ground...

”Honestly, he brought this on himself.”

Lin Ya shook her head. Given Ling Chen’s strength, she had already anticipated this one-sided battle, which was why she had asked Ling Chen to show mercy. As expected, it happened just as she had predicted.

”Thank you, Ling Chen.”

She gave Ling Chen a grateful smile. He had indeed shown mercy; otherwise, Yuan Gang would now be a corpse.

”Impossible, this is impossible.”

Yuan Gang, lying on the ground, still couldn’t believe he had been defeated. He, a Gold-ranked Assassin of the Shadow Tower, defeated by a single finger. It felt like a terrible nightmare from which he couldn’t awaken. Subconsciously, he glanced around. He saw the astonished faces of the Black Market disciples and Lin Ya and Ling Chen laughing together. As Yuan Gang watched, his dazed eyes gradually regained some light, only to be overwhelmed by shame and resentment. His face turned red as a beet, and the exclamations he heard felt like repeated insults.

”Damn beast, you’ve bullied me too far!” Yuan Gang roared.

Ling Chen smirked coldly. ”You started it. How have I bullied you? If your skills are lacking, go back and train harder. In three to five years, you might be able to withstand one finger of mine.”

”Bastard!”

Yuan Gang was even more incensed. To say it would take him three to five years of training just to withstand a single finger was a blatant insult. This brat was too hateful!

His right hand chopping down like a knife, Yuan Gang struck at Ling Chen with his palm. This strike, born of his fury, was nearly as powerful as his attacks with the Long Knife.

Unfortunately for Yuan Gang, his movements were too slow in Ling Chen’s eyes, like slow motion. All Ling Chen had to do was strike Yuan Gang before being struck himself.

This was a piece of cake.

SMACK!

Without any courtesy, Ling Chen slapped Yuan Gang on the forehead, knocking him out instantly. For such an unappreciative person, Ling Chen never showed mercy. Showing mercy would be like slapping his own face.

”Let’s go!”

Having done this, Ling Chen turned to Lin Ya.

Nodding, Lin Ya pointed at Yuan Gang, who lay unconscious on the ground, and instructed some Black Market disciples, ”You few, quickly take him down to rest.”

With that, the two of them left the square.

Only after they had departed did a few Black Market disciples dare to approach and help Yuan Gang up.

”Senior Brother Yuan Gang really picked a fight with the wrong person this time. He’s provoked a dangerous individual he shouldn’t have tangled with.”

”It’s horrifying. He defeated Senior Brother Yuan Gang with a single finger, then knocked him unconscious with a slap. He toyed with a Gold-ranked Assassin as if it were child’s play.”

”Do you think Senior Brother Yuan Gang will go mad when he wakes up?”

”Even if he does, it’ll be pointless. The two aren’t on the same level. I think it’s better for him to just accept it, to avoid further humiliation.”

Although they didn’t know Ling Chen’s identity, they had already labeled him as someone not to be provoked.
