Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 611: Chapter 609: Calculation_1

Magic Fog Mountain, behind the Saintess Hall.

Ling Chen was currently cultivating the Red Sky Sword Art, perfecting its fifth move, Blazing Meteor.

His current Cultivation had stabilized in the Great Master Seventh Realm, but his actual strength was far greater than it appeared. Even a Top Sky Apex Strong would not be able to withstand a single move from Ling Chen.

Although this Blazing Meteor move is powerful, I don’t feel it has reached its full potential, Ling Chen thought. There is still much room for improvement.

However, the power of this move actually depended on the strength of one’s Mental Power. If an Illusionist or a Puppeteer were to use this move, they would undoubtedly control it with consummate skill. Unfortunately, they were not Swordsmen, so they could not unleash the true power of this move.

In Ling Chen’s view, this Blazing Meteor should be divided into two layers. The First Layer was the most basic: with heart and sword moving in sync, taking an enemy’s head from a hundred paces was as easy as reaching into a bag to retrieve something. The Second Layer was the sublimation of this sword technique, capable of generating a second meteor sword qi, launching two stars simultaneously and doubling its power.

Beside a lake, Ling Chen shouted, ”Go!”

With a flick of his right-hand sword fingers, the Red Sky Sword in Ling Chen’s hand shot out like a fiery meteor, instantly piercing through a decorative rockery a hundred paces away. Its speed was undoubtedly faster than when he had confronted Xie Zhiqiu.

SSSHHH!

The Sword Light swept over the lake’s surface, splitting the entire lake in two. The water surged violently to either side, creating two huge waves.

Ling Chen was not yet satisfied with a mere straight-line attack. With a thought, his sword fingers traced an arc in the Void and then retracted.

CRACK!

The meteor Sword Light, mirroring his sword fingers, carved an arc through the Void and pierced the rockery a second time. Its speed was only marginally slower than the direct attack.

BANG!

It blasted a large hole in the rockery, and the Flames on the Red Sky Sword dissipated.

”Return!”

Ling Chen pulled back his sword fingers, and the Red Sky Sword flew back, reinserting itself into its sword scabbard.

Progressing to the Second Layer will take more time; it’s not that easy, he mused.

WHOOSH!

At that moment, a Qingfeng Jue landed on the mountain peak, flapping its wings a few times. A slender figure leaped down from the Qingfeng Jue—it was Liu Feiyue.

”Senior Sister Feiyue, how did the investigation I asked you to conduct go?”

Ling Chen had just finished his Cultivation. His gaze fell on Liu Feiyue as he asked the question. He had asked Liu Feiyue to investigate Shentu Yan and the Myriad Beasts Sect. Now that she had returned, she likely had news.

”There’s been no movement from the Myriad Beasts Sect; they seem to have quieted down a lot recently,” Liu Feiyue reported, approaching Ling Chen. ”As for Shentu Yan, he was apparently seriously injured not long ago and has been recuperating this whole time.”

”Seriously injured?” Ling Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly. ”How could he suddenly sustain such serious injuries?”

”That, I don’t know.” Liu Feiyue shook her head. Then, changing the subject, she said, ”There isn’t much more news about Shentu Yan. However, there has been considerable unrest in the Black Market recently.”

”Oh?” Ling Chen raised an eyebrow.

Liu Feiyue continued, ”Black Chonghou has suppressed all opposing forces and seized the position of Black Market Master. He has also appointed Linghu Yi as the Chief Rudder of the Black Market to help him command it.”

”How did the position of Black Market Master fall into Black Chonghou’s hands?” Ling Chen frowned. This was not good news for him. Black Chonghou and Linghu Yi were birds of a feather, and Ling Chen held a deep grudge against Linghu Yi. With these two now in control of the Black Market, it was tantamount to creating a formidable enemy for himself.

”Black Chonghou alone shouldn’t have the power to seize the position of Black Market Master,” Liu Feiyue continued. ”It’s said he relied on powerful external support. I don’t know where Black Chonghou found such strong allies, but he now commands thirty to forty Top Sky Apex Strong. They are more than enough to suppress any backlash from other factions in the Black Market.”

”Where did he get so many Top Sky Apex Strong?” Ling Chen was also surprised. For any major faction, Top Sky Apex Strong were their backbone and a precious asset. For top-tier sects in the Martial World like the Sky Void Palace or the Myriad Dao Sect, the total number of their Top Sky Apex Strong likely wouldn’t exceed double digits. Yet a mere Black Chonghou can mobilize so many?

Liu Feiyue nodded. ”That’s why I said a powerful force is backing Black Chonghou, using him to control the entire Black Market.”

A powerful force... so many Top Sky Apex Strong... Ling Chen fell into deep thought. After a moment, a glint lit up in his eyes.

There’s no faction in the Martial World that possesses so many Top Sky Apex Strong. There’s only one way to suddenly create so many Top Sky Apex Strong. It must be the Breaking Sky Spirit Liquid, the treasure left by the Human Emperor that I encountered in the Human Emperor’s Underground Palace. A single drop of Breaking Sky Spirit Liquid, at the cost of sacrificing future Martial Arts potential, can elevate a Grand Master to a Top Sky Apex Strong in a short period. To mass-produce Top Sky Apex Strong and even intervene in the Black Market’s struggles... the mastermind behind this can only be one person. And that person is Shentu Yan.

Ling Chen now even suspected that the severe injury Shentu Yan had supposedly suffered was inflicted by the former Black Market Master. This upheaval in the Black Market was all part of Shentu Yan’s plan.

This man is truly despicable, Ling Chen thought, his expression turning grave. A foolish opponent, no matter how strong, was not terrifying. What was terrifying were intelligent and cunning enemies. They posed an immense threat; a single misstep could lead to death by their schemes. Shentu Yan’s ambition definitely extends beyond just the Black Market. His target is the entire Martial World.

Just then, a female Disciple from the Saintess Hall hurried to the back mountain. After bowing to Ling Chen, she said, ”Saint Child, a young lady named Lin Ya, who claims to be an old acquaintance of yours, has come to visit.”

”Lin Ya?” Ling Chen’s eyelids lifted slightly, a smile playing on his lips. Her timing is impeccable, he thought. ”Please invite her over.”

”Yes.” The female Disciple immediately withdrew.

There’s no doubt Lin Ya has come seeking reinforcements, Ling Chen mused. She came to the right place. Other factions probably aren’t interested in, nor would they dare to intervene in, the internal affairs of the Black Market.

”Have you already made a decision, Junior Brother?” Liu Feiyue asked, noticing the change in Ling Chen’s expression.

Ling Chen nodded. ”Why wouldn’t I seize such a good opportunity? If we can bring the Black Market to our side, we’ll have more leverage when we eventually confront Shentu Yan.”

The Black Market was wealthy and influential, with many Experts under its command and extensive reach throughout the Five Kingdoms. If he could bring the Black Market under his control, it would greatly enhance his own power. Shentu Yan wants to control the Black Market for the same reason: to prepare for his ambition to rule the world.

Ling Chen knew a decisive battle with Shentu Yan was inevitable. If he failed to anticipate Shentu Yan’s every move, he would be at a severe disadvantage in that final confrontation.
